Predictive single cell foundation model for gene regulation and aging with privacy-preserving tabular learning

Pre-trained foundation models (FMs) have begun transforming single-cell genomics, but scaling them raises privacy concerns. Moreover, unlike text data, single-cell data is unordered and exhibits a unique tabular structure that current single-cell FMs overlook. We introduce Tabula, a privacy-preserving FM designed with federated learning (FL) that explicitly models the tabular structure of single-cell data. To deploy Tabula, we further developed Chiron, a decentralized AI agent-enabled platform for collaborative training across institutions without sharing raw data. Beyond strong performance across downstream benchmarks, Tabula reveals combinatorial regulatory logic across diverse biological systems, including hematopoiesis, pancreatic endogenesis, neurogenesis, and cardiogenesis. Using a new scRNA-seq dataset of paired young and aged human fibroblasts, Tabula nominates rejuvenation factors through age- and identity score-guided in silico prioritization, outperforming conventional approaches. Thus, Tabula represents an important advance in single-cell foundation modeling by integrating tabular learning with FL, paving the way toward privacy-preserving virtual cells for human health.

Higher-dimensional quantum-corrected Oppenheimer-Snyder model with a cosmological constant

We extended the higher-dimensional quantum Oppenheimer-Snyder model to the case with a cosmological constant. For AdS case, we discuss its thermodynamic properties in extend phase space formalism and make comparison with classical black holes. For quantum-corrected small black holes in AdS spacetime, the temperature no longer diverges but tends to zero. Additionally, the heat capacity exhibits characteristic behavior indicative of an extra phase transition induced by quantum corrections, highlighting the profound impact of quantum effects on black hole thermodynamics.

Periodic orbits and gravitational waveforms of spinning particles in nonlocal Gravity

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics and gravitational-wave signatures of periodic orbits of spinning test particles moving in the equatorial plane around static, spherically symmetric black holes within the framework of Deser-Woodard nonlocal gravity. Based on the Mathisson-Papapetrou-Dixon equations, combined with the Tulczyjew spin supplementary condition, we derive the orbital dynamic equations for spinning particles moving in the equatorial plane and impose a timelike constraint to exclude unphysical superluminal trajectories. By comparing with the classical Schwarzschild black hole, we systematically analyze the effects of the nonlocal gravitational parameters $\zeta$ and $b$ on the effective potential governing the radial motion of particles and the innermost stable circular orbit. In addition, gravitational waveforms exhibit significant phase differences: an increase in $\zeta$ induces a phase delay, whereas an increase in $b$ results in a phase advance. A one-year simulation of the orbital evolution of an extreme mass ratio inspiral demonstrates that when $b=2$ and $\zeta\approx10^{-6}$, the mismatch between the gravitational waveforms predicted for the nonlocal gravity black hole and those for the Schwarzschild black hole reaches the distinguishable threshold ($\mathcal{M}=0.0125$), providing a basis for observational discrimination between general relativity and nonlocal gravity.

Mass inflation and strong cosmic censorship conjecture in the covariant quantum black hole

Recently, two types of solutions to the long-standing issue of general covariance in canonical quantum gravity have been proposed. From the above, a fundamental question arises: which solution is superior? Considering one type of solution with a Cauchy horizon, in the present letter, we explore whether it exhibits properties similar to those of the Reissner-Nordstr\"{o}m black hole. Due to its geometric similarity, application of the generalized Dray-'t Hooft-Redmond relation reveals evidence of mass inflation, indicating that the Cauchy horizon is unstable. While this is consistent with the Strong Cosmic Censorship conjecture, it suggests that it does not represent a regular black hole. Furthermore, we extend the metric to include a cosmological constant and study the validity of the Strong Cosmic Censorship conjecture for the quantum black hole in de Sitter spacetime. After taking into account the reasonable ranges of parameters for the quantum black hole, we find that the Strong Cosmic Censorship Conjecture holds.

Effective four-dimensional loop quantum black hole with a cosmological constant

In this paper, we utilize the effective corrections of the $\bar{\mu}$-scheme in loop quantum black holes to obtain a 4-dimensional spherically symmetric metric with a cosmological constant. By imposing the areal gauge on the components of Ashtekar variables in the classical theory and applying the holonomy corrections, we derive the equations of motion, which can be solved to obtain the expression for the effective metric in the Painlev\'{e}-Gullstrand coordinates. Compared to the classical dS (AdS) spacetime, the LQG correction sets an upper bound on the cosmological constant as $\Lambda<\frac{3}{\gamma^2\Delta}$. The thermodynamic properties of black holes have also been calculated. We interestingly found that for a small black hole, the temperature of the LQG black hole decreases as the mass decreases, which is quite different with the classical scenario. Moreover, our result shows that a logarithmic term appeared as the leading order correction to the Beikenstein-Hawking entropy. Furthermore, the LQG corrections also introduce an extra phase transition in the black hole's heat capacity at smaller radius.

Quasinormal modes, greybody factors and thermodynamics of four dimensional AdS black holes in Critical Gravity

In the present work, considering critical gravity as a gravity model, an electrically charged topological Anti-de Sitter black hole with a matter source characterized by a nonlinear electrodynamics framework is obtained. This configuration is defined by an integration constant, three key structural constants, and a constant that represents the topology of the event horizon. Additionally, based on the Wald formalism, we probe that this configuration enjoys non-trivial thermodynamic quantities, establishing the corresponding first law of black hole thermodynamics, as well as local stability under thermal and electrical fluctuations. Additionally, via the Gibbs free energy we note that the topology of the base manifold allows us to compare this charged configuration with respect to the thermal AdS space-time, allowing us to obtain a first-order phase transition. The quasinormal modes and the greybody factor are also calculated by considering the spherical situation. We found that the quasinormal modes exhibit a straightforward change for variations of one of the structural constants.
