Hunyuan-Large: An Open-Source MoE Model with 52 Billion Activated Parameters by Tencent

In this paper, we introduce Hunyuan-Large, which is currently the largest open-source Transformer-based mixture of experts model, with a total of 389 billion parameters and 52 billion activation parameters, capable of handling up to 256K tokens. We conduct a thorough evaluation of Hunyuan-Large's superior performance across various benchmarks including language understanding and generation, logical reasoning, mathematical problem-solving, coding, long-context, and aggregated tasks, where it outperforms LLama3.1-70B and exhibits comparable performance when compared to the significantly larger LLama3.1-405B model. Key practice of Hunyuan-Large include large-scale synthetic data that is orders larger than in previous literature, a mixed expert routing strategy, a key-value cache compression technique, and an expert-specific learning rate strategy. Additionally, we also investigate the scaling laws and learning rate schedule of mixture of experts models, providing valuable insights and guidances for future model development and optimization. The code and checkpoints of Hunyuan-Large are released to facilitate future innovations and applications. The Brain Tumor Sequence Registration (BraTS-Reg) Challenge: Establishing Correspondence Between Pre-Operative and Follow-up MRI Scans of Diffuse Glioma Patients

Registration of longitudinal brain MRI scans containing pathologies is challenging due to dramatic changes in tissue appearance. Although there has been progress in developing general-purpose medical image registration techniques, they have not yet attained the requisite precision and reliability for this task, highlighting its inherent complexity. Here we describe the Brain Tumor Sequence Registration (BraTS-Reg) challenge, as the first public benchmark environment for deformable registration algorithms focusing on estimating correspondences between pre-operative and follow-up scans of the same patient diagnosed with a diffuse brain glioma. The BraTS-Reg data comprise de-identified multi-institutional multi-parametric MRI (mpMRI) scans, curated for size and resolution according to a canonical anatomical template, and divided into training, validation, and testing sets. Clinical experts annotated ground truth (GT) landmark points of anatomical locations distinct across the temporal domain. Quantitative evaluation and ranking were based on the Median Euclidean Error (MEE), Robustness, and the determinant of the Jacobian of the displacement field. The top-ranked methodologies yielded similar performance across all evaluation metrics and shared several methodological commonalities, including pre-alignment, deep neural networks, inverse consistency analysis, and test-time instance optimization per-case basis as a post-processing step. The top-ranked method attained the MEE at or below that of the inter-rater variability for approximately 60% of the evaluated landmarks, underscoring the scope for further accuracy and robustness improvements, especially relative to human experts. The aim of BraTS-Reg is to continue to serve as an active resource for research, with the data and online evaluation tools accessible at https://bratsreg.github.io/.

Inconsistent Matters: A Knowledge-guided Dual-consistency Network for Multi-modal Rumor Detection

Rumor spreaders are increasingly utilizing multimedia content to attract the attention and trust of news consumers. Though quite a few rumor detection models have exploited the multi-modal data, they seldom consider the inconsistent semantics between images and texts, and rarely spot the inconsistency among the post contents and background knowledge. In addition, they commonly assume the completeness of multiple modalities and thus are incapable of handling handle missing modalities in real-life scenarios. Motivated by the intuition that rumors in social media are more likely to have inconsistent semantics, a novel Knowledge-guided Dual-consistency Network is proposed to detect rumors with multimedia contents. It uses two consistency detection subnetworks to capture the inconsistency at the cross-modal level and the content-knowledge level simultaneously. It also enables robust multi-modal representation learning under different missing visual modality conditions, using a special token to discriminate between posts with visual modality and posts without visual modality. Extensive experiments on three public real-world multimedia datasets demonstrate that our framework can outperform the state-of-the-art baselines under both complete and incomplete modality conditions. A compact flat solar still with high performance

Solar still is a convenient off-grid device for desalination, which can provide fresh water for families, ships, islands and so on. The conventional inclined solar still (ISS) suffers from low efficiency and low productivity. To improve the performance of solar still, a flat solar still (FSS) is proposed, which has a working principle similar to the solar cell. The condensate water in FSS is collected by the capillary grid attached under the ultra-hydrophilic glass cover, instead of by gravity. Therefore, FSS avoids the inclined structure and is much more compact than ISS. The daily productivity of FSS reaches up to 4.3 kg/m2. Theoretical analysis shows that the enhanced mass transfer in FSS by the compact structure is an important factor for high performance. More interestingly, FSS can also be easily extended to more stage for latent heat recovery. The results show that the daily productivity of a double-stage FSS reaches up to 7 kg/m2, which is much higher than the conventional solar still. FSS paves a new way in designing and optimizing of solar still.

Mention Extraction and Linking for SQL Query Generation

On the WikiSQL benchmark, state-of-the-art text-to-SQL systems typically take a slot-filling approach by building several dedicated models for each type of slots. Such modularized systems are not only complex butalso of limited capacity for capturing inter-dependencies among SQL clauses. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a novel extraction-linking approach, where a unified extractor recognizes all types of slot mentions appearing in the question sentence before a linker maps the recognized columns to the table schema to generate executable SQL queries. Trained with automatically generated annotations, the proposed method achieves the first place on the WikiSQL benchmark.

Pyramid Network with Online Hard Example Mining for Accurate Left Atrium Segmentation

Accurately segmenting left atrium in MR volume can benefit the ablation procedure of atrial fibrillation. Traditional automated solutions often fail in relieving experts from the labor-intensive manual labeling. In this paper, we propose a deep neural network based solution for automated left atrium segmentation in gadolinium-enhanced MR volumes with promising performance. We firstly argue that, for this volumetric segmentation task, networks in 2D fashion can present great superiorities in time efficiency and segmentation accuracy than networks with 3D fashion. Considering the highly varying shape of atrium and the branchy structure of associated pulmonary veins, we propose to adopt a pyramid module to collect semantic cues in feature maps from multiple scales for fine-grained segmentation. Also, to promote our network in classifying the hard examples, we propose an Online Hard Negative Example Mining strategy to identify voxels in slices with low classification certainties and penalize the wrong predictions on them. Finally, we devise a competitive training scheme to further boost the generalization ability of networks. Extensively verified on 20 testing volumes, our proposed framework achieves an average Dice of 92.83% in segmenting the left atria and pulmonary veins.
