Towards Reliable Stain Transfer: An Iterative Data-Model Co-Optimization Framework Based on Multimodal Expert-Guided Assessment

Histopathological examination primarily relies on hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining. Although IHC provides critical molecular information, it is costly and requires specialized expertise. Stain transfer provides an efficient alternative by computationally generating IHC from H&E images, but remains challenged by unified and interpretable modeling for heterogeneous biomarkers under pixel-unaligned supervision. We propose DMCoStain, a novel Data-Model Co-optimization framework for Stain transfer. It iteratively co-refines training data and model capability, improving staining accuracy and interpretability in both pathological and structural consistency. To refine training data in a clinically meaningful manner, it incorporates the Multimodal Expert-Guided Finer Selection (MEGFS) strategy, built upon a pioneering IHC-positive-expression (IPE) vision-language model (VLM) that emulates pathologist reasoning. To support MEGFS, we construct ImmunoInstruction, the first large-scale IPE instruction-following dataset with 150K VQA samples. Extensive experiments on multiple tissues and biomarkers demonstrate that DMCoStain achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) accuracy. This paradigm offers strong practical value, and MEGFS also functions as a specialized evaluation tool for future model development. Dataset, code, and more details are in https://github.com/SikangSHU/DMCoStain.

An LLM-Enabled Frequency-Aware Flow Diffusion Model for Natural-Language-Guided Power System Scenario Generation

Diverse and controllable scenario generation (e.g., wind, solar, load, etc.) is critical for robust power system planning and operation. As AI-based scenario generation methods are becoming the mainstream, existing methods (e.g., Conditional Generative Adversarial Nets) mainly rely on a fixed-length numerical conditioning vector to control the generation results, facing challenges in user conveniency and generation flexibility. In this paper, a natural-language-guided scenario generation framework, named LLM-enabled Frequency-aware Flow Diffusion (LFFD), is proposed to enable users to generate desired scenarios using plain human language. First, a pretrained LLM module is introduced to convert generation requests described by unstructured natural languages into ordered semantic space. Second, instead of using standard diffusion models, a flow diffusion model employing a rectified flow matching objective is introduced to achieve efficient and high-quality scenario generation, taking the LLM output as the model input. During the model training process, a frequency-aware multi-objective optimization algorithm is introduced to mitigate the frequency-bias issue. Meanwhile, a dual-agent framework is designed to create text-scenario training sample pairs as well as to standardize semantic evaluation. Experiments based on large-scale photovoltaic and load datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

An interpretable formula for lattice thermal conductivity of crystals

Lattice thermal conductivity (kL) is a crucial physical property of crystals with applications in thermal management, such as heat dissipation, insulation, and thermoelectric energy conversion. However, accurately and rapidly determining kL poses a considerable challenge. In this study, we introduce an formula that achieves high precision (mean relative error=8.97%) and provides fast predictions, taking less than one minute, for kL across a wide range of inorganic binary and ternary materials. Our interpretable, dimensionally aligned and physical grounded formula forecasts kL values for 4,601 binary and 6,995 ternary materials in the Materials Project database. Notably, we predict undiscovered high kL values for AlBN2 (kL=101 W/ m/ K) and the undetectedlow kL Cs2Se (kL=0.98 W/ m/ K) at room temperature. This method for determining kL streamlines the traditionally time-consuming process associated with complex phonon physics. It provides insights into microscopic heat transport and facilitates the design and screening of materials with targeted and extreme kL values through the application of phonon engineering. Our findings offer opportunities for controlling and optimizing macroscopic transport properties of materials by engineering their bulk modulus, shear modulus, and Gruneisen parameter.

LoFormer: Local Frequency Transformer for Image Deblurring

Due to the computational complexity of self-attention (SA), prevalent techniques for image deblurring often resort to either adopting localized SA or employing coarse-grained global SA methods, both of which exhibit drawbacks such as compromising global modeling or lacking fine-grained correlation. In order to address this issue by effectively modeling long-range dependencies without sacrificing fine-grained details, we introduce a novel approach termed Local Frequency Transformer (LoFormer). Within each unit of LoFormer, we incorporate a Local Channel-wise SA in the frequency domain (Freq-LC) to simultaneously capture cross-covariance within low- and high-frequency local windows. These operations offer the advantage of (1) ensuring equitable learning opportunities for both coarse-grained structures and fine-grained details, and (2) exploring a broader range of representational properties compared to coarse-grained global SA methods. Additionally, we introduce an MLP Gating mechanism complementary to Freq-LC, which serves to filter out irrelevant features while enhancing global learning capabilities. Our experiments demonstrate that LoFormer significantly improves performance in the image deblurring task, achieving a PSNR of 34.09 dB on the GoPro dataset with 126G FLOPs. https://github.com/DeepMed-Lab-ECNU/Single-Image-Deblur
