MIRAGE: Stealthy Visual Prompt Injection for Vulnerability Detection in Web Agents

Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM)-based web agents provide practical, high-precision solutions for visual browser automation; however, they inherently expand the attack surface, introducing novel vision-based vulnerabilities. Existing adversarial evaluations targeting these agents frequently rely on permissive threat models and visually conspicuous artifacts. In this paper, we investigate a constrained vulnerability detection setting: a trusted web platform where the evaluator acts solely as an unprivileged third party, such as a merchant or advertiser, controlling only a semantically legitimate, spatially constrained region, such as an ad slot, a sponsored card, or a localized widget. Operating under these realistic constraints, we propose MIRAGE, a novel visual indirect prompt injection framework for targeted next-action hijacking. Our approach leverages diffusion models to generate perceptually benign adversarial images strictly confined to the attacker-controlled boundaries permitted by the trusted service provider. To maximize attack efficacy within such a restrictive setting, we introduce a robust optimization technique combining curvature-aware adversarial diffusion guidance with sparse, dark-pixel residual perturbations. Comprehensive evaluations against prominent MLLM web agent frameworks, specifically SeeAct and OpenClaw, empirically demonstrate the potency, realism, and stealth of our proposed MIRAGE.

Absolute continuity of generalized Wasserstein barycenters of finitely many measures

Consider a complete Riemannian manifold $(M, g)$ and optimal transport problems on it with cost functions of the form $c(x,y) = h(d_{g}(x,y))$. We study the absolute continuity of the corresponding generalized Wasserstein barycenters of finitely many marginal measures. For general strictly convex profiles $h$ lacking $\mathcal{C}^2$-smoothness, such as $h(d)= d^p / p$ with $1 < p < 2$ that defines the $p$-Wasserstein space, the singularity at $d=0$ prevents the barycenter from inheriting absolute continuity from a single marginal measure as the quadratic case. To overcome this singularity, recent Euclidean results necessitate the absolute continuity of all marginals. Building upon the approximation framework toward absolute continuity in arXiv:2310.13832, we extend the Euclidean advancements to the manifold setting. Stripping away the implicit reliance on flat translational symmetry and local coordinate calculations of their Euclidean proofs, our work handles the singularity in a geometrically transparent way, revealing the precise analytic condition on the cost profile that governs the necessary assumptions.

Wasserstein barycenters on metric graphs

In this paper we provide conditions for a Wasserstein barycenter to be absolutely continuous with respect to its Hausdorff measure away from the vertices of the graph. One assumption removed in v2, the result is now optimal.

Absolute continuity of Wasserstein barycenters on manifolds with a lower Ricci curvature bound

Given a complete Riemannian manifold $M$ with a lower Ricci curvature bound, we consider barycenters in the Wasserstein space $\mathcal{W}_2(M)$ of probability measures on $M$. We refer to them as Wasserstein barycenters, which by definition are probability measures on $M$. The goal of this article is to present a novel approach to proving their absolute continuity. We introduce a new class of displacement functionals exploiting the Hessian equality for Wasserstein barycenters. To provide suitable instances of such functionals, we revisit Souslin space theory, Dunford-Pettis theorem and the de la Vallée Poussin criterion for uniform integrability. Our method shows that if a probability measure $\mathbb{P}$ on $\mathcal{W}_2(M)$ gives mass to absolutely continuous measures on $M$, then its unique barycenter is also absolutely continuous. This generalizes the previous results on compact manifolds by Kim and Pass arXiv:1412.7726 [math.AP] .
