A High-Voltage Characterisation Platform For Emerging Resistive Switching Technologies

Emerging memristor-based array architectures have been effectively employed in non-volatile memories and neuromorphic computing systems due to their density, scalability and capability of storing information. Nonetheless, to demonstrate a practical on-chip memristor-based system, it is essential to have the ability to apply large programming voltage ranges during the characterisation procedures for various memristor technologies. This work presents a 16x16 high voltage memristor characterisation array employing high voltage CMOS circuitry. The proposed system has a maximum programming range of $\pm22V$ to allow on-chip electroforming and I-V sweep. In addition, a Kelvin voltage sensing system is implemented to improve the readout accuracy for low memristance measurements. This work addresses the limitation of conventional CMOS-memristor platforms which can only operate at low voltages, thus limiting the characterisation range and integration options of memristor technologies.

Hybrid CMOS/Memristor Circuit Design Methodology

RRAM technology has experienced explosive growth in the last decade, with multiple device structures being developed for a wide range of applications. However, transitioning the technology from the lab into the marketplace requires the development of an accessible and user-friendly design flow, supported by an industry-grade toolchain. In this work, we demonstrate with examples an end-to-end design flow for RRAM-based electronics, from the introduction of a custom RRAM model into our chosen CAD tool to performing layout-versus-schematic and post-layout checks including the RRAM device. We envisage that this step-by-step guide to introducing RRAM into the standard integrated circuit design flow will be a useful reference document for both device developers who wish to benchmark their technologies and circuit designers who wish to experiment with RRAM-enhanced systems.

Bidirectional group random walk based network embedding for asymmetric proximity

Network embedding aims to represent a network into a low dimensional space where the network structural information and inherent properties are maximumly preserved. Random walk based network embedding methods such as DeepWalk and node2vec have shown outstanding performance in the aspect of preserving the network topological structure. However, these approaches either predict the distribution of a node's neighbors in both direction together, which makes them unable to capture any asymmetric relationship in a network; or preserve asymmetric relationship in only one direction and hence lose the one in another direction. To address these limitations, we propose bidirectional group random walk based network embedding method (BiGRW), which treats the distributions of a node's neighbors in the forward and backward direction in random walks as two different asymmetric network structural information. The basic idea of BiGRW is to learn a representation for each node that is useful to predict its distribution of neighbors in the forward and backward direction separately. Apart from that, a novel random walk sampling strategy is proposed with a parameter α to flexibly control the trade-off between breadth-first sampling (BFS) and depth-first sampling (DFS). To learn representations from node attributes, we design an attributed version of BiGRW (BiGRW-AT). Experimental results on several benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed methods significantly outperform the state-of-the-art plain and attributed network embedding methods on tasks of node classification and clustering.

Training Image Selection using Recurrent Neural Networks: An Application in Hydrogeology

Multiple-point geostatistics plays an important role in characterizing complex subsurface aquifer systems such as channelized structures. However, only a few studies have paid attention to how to choose an applicable training image. In this paper, a TI selection method based on Recurrent Neural Networks is proposed. A synthetic case is tested using two channelized training images given the hydraulic head time series. Three different RNNs architectures are tested for the selection performance. Various scenarios of the model input are also tested including the number of observation wells, the observation time steps, the influence of observation noise, and the training dataset size. In this TI selection task, the GRU has the best performance among all three architectures and can reach to a 97.63% accuracy.

Implicit Euler ODE Networks for Single-Image Dehazing

Deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) have been applied for image dehazing tasks, where the residual network (ResNet) is often adopted as the basic component to avoid the vanishing gradient problem. Recently, many works indicate that the ResNet can be considered as the explicit Euler forward approximation of an ordinary differential equation (ODE). In this paper, we extend the explicit forward approximation to the implicit backward counterpart, which can be realized via a recursive neural network, named IM-block. Given that, we propose an efficient end-to-end multi-level implicit network (MI-Net) for the single image dehazing problem. Moreover, multi-level fusing (MLF) mechanism and residual channel attention block (RCA-block) are adopted to boost performance of our network. Experiments on several dehazing benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods and achieves the state-of-the-art performance.

Littlewood-Paley Characterization for Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy Spaces Associated with Operators

Let $X$ be a space of homogeneous type. Assume that $L$ is an non-negative second-order self-adjoint operator on $L^2\left(X\right)$ with (heart) kernel associated to the semigroup $e^{ - tL}$ that satisfies the Gaussian upper bound. In this paper, the authors introduce a new characterization of the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy Space $H_{φ, L}\left(X\right)$ associated with $L$ in terms of the Lusin area function where $φ$ is a growth function. Further, the authors prove that the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy Space $H_{L,G,φ}\left(X\right)$ associated with $L$ in terms of the Littlewood-Paley function is coincide with $H_{φ, L}\left(X\right)$ and their norms are equivalent.
