Mining CFD Rules on Big Data

Current conditional functional dependencies (CFDs) discovery algorithms always need a well-prepared training data set. This makes them difficult to be applied on large datasets which are always in low-quality. To handle the volume issue of big data, we develop the sampling algorithms to obtain a small representative training set. For the low-quality issue of big data, we then design the fault-tolerant rule discovery algorithm and the conflict resolution algorithm. We also propose parameter selection strategy for CFD discovery algorithm to ensure its effectiveness. Experimental results demonstrate that our method could discover effective CFD rules on billion-tuple data within reasonable time.

Experimental and Theoretical Evidence for Extended Particle Models

We review the experimental searches on those interactions where the fundamental particles could exhibit a non point-like behavior. In particular we focus on the QED reaction measuring the differential cross sections for the process $ \EEGG $ at energies from sqrt{s} =55 GeV to 207 GeV using the data collected with the VENUS, TOPAZ, ALEPH, DELPHI L3 and OPAL from 1989 to 2003. The global fit to the data is 5 standard deviations away from the standard model expectation for the hypothesis of an excited state of the electron, corresponding to the cut-off scale Lambda =12.5 TeV. Assuming that this cut-off scale restricts the characteristic size of QED interaction to 15.7x10^{-18} cm, we perform an effort to assign in a semi-mechanical way all available properties of fundamental particles to a hypothetical classical object. Such object can be modeled as a classical gyroscope consisted of a non rotating inner massive kernel surrounded by an outer rotating massive layer equipped with charged sorted in a way to match the charge contents for different interactions. The model size of an electron agrees with 1.86x10^{-17} cm with the experiment. The introduction of a particle like structure related to gravity allows to estimate the inner mass kernel of an electron to 1.7x10^{-19} cm and the mass of a scaler to 154 GeV. The extension of the model to electrical charged particle-like structure in nonlinear electrodynamics coupled to General Relativity confirms the model in the global geometrical structure of mass and field distribution.

Putting non Point-like Behavior of Fundamental Particles to Test

We review the experimental limits on those hypothetical interactions where the fundamental particles could exhibit non point-like behavior. In particular we have focused on the QED reaction measuring the differential cross sections for the process $ \EEGG $ at energies around 91 GeV and 209 GeV with data collected from the L3 detector from 1991 to 2001. With a global fit L3 set lower limits at $ 95 % $ CL on a contact interaction energy scale parameter $Λ> 1.6 $ TeV, which restricts the characteristic QED size of the interaction region to $ R_{e} < 1.2 \times 10^{-17} $ cm. All the interaction regions are found to be smaller than the Compton wavelength of the fundamental particles. This constraint we use to estimate a lower limit on the internal density of particle-like structure with the de Sitter vacuum core. Some applications of obtained limits to the string and quantum gravity scales are also discussed.

QED Test at LEP200 Energies in the Reaction $\rm e^+ e^-\to γγ(γ)$

The measurements of the QED reaction $ \EEGG $ performed with the L3 detector are used to search for new physics phenomena beyond the Standard Model. No evidence for these phenomena is found and new limits on their parameters are set. First the reaction is used to constrain a model of an excited electron and second to study contact interactions. The total and differential cross sections for the process $ \EEGG $, are measured at energies from 91 GeV to 202 GeV using the data collected with the L3 detector from 1991 to 1999. The L3 data set lower limits on the mass of an excited electron $ \MESTAR > 402 $ GeV, on the QED cutoff parameters $ \LAMP > 415 $ GeV, $ \LAMM > 258 $ GeV and on the contact interaction energy scale $ Λ> 1687 $ GeV. The last parameter limits the size of the interaction area to $ R < 1.17\times 10^{-17} $ cm. Some limits on the string and quantum gravity scales are also discussed.

Limits on Sizes of Fundamental Particles and on Gravitational Mass of a Scalar

We review the experimental limits on mass of excited fundamental particles and contact interaction energy scale parameters $Λ$ for QCD, QED and electroweak reactions. In particular we have focused on the QED reaction $ \EEGG $ at the energies from 91GeV{} to 202GeV{} using the differential cross-sections measured by the L3 Collaboration from 1991 to 1999. A global fit leads to lower limits at $ 95 % $ CL on $Λ> 1687$ GeV, which restricts the characteristic QED size of the interaction region to $ R_{e} < 1.17 \times 10^{-17} $ cm. All the interaction regions are found to be smaller than the Compton wavelength of the fundamental particles. This constraint is used to estimate a lower limit on the size of a fundamental particle related to gravitational interaction, applying the model of self-gravitating particle-like structure with the de Sitter vacuum core. It gives $r_τ \geq 2.3 \times {10^{-17}}$ cm and $r_{e} \geq 1.5 \times 10^{-18} $ cm, if leptons get masses at the electroweak scale, and $r_τ \geq 3.3 \times {10^{-27}}$ cm, $r_{e} \geq 4.9 \times 10^{-26} $ cm, as the most stringent limits required by causality arguments. This sets also an upper limit on the gravitational mass of a scalar $m_{scalar} \leq{154} $ GeV{} at the electroweak scale and (m_{scalar} \leq \sqrt{3/8} m_{Pl}) as the most stringent limit.
