One-Step Diffusion-based Real-World Image Super-Resolution with Visual Perception Distillation

Diffusion-based models have been widely used in various visual generation tasks, showing promising results in image super-resolution (SR), while typically being limited by dozens or even hundreds of sampling steps. Although existing methods aim to accelerate the inference speed of multi-step diffusion-based SR methods through knowledge distillation, their generated images exhibit insufficient semantic alignment with real images, resulting in suboptimal perceptual quality reconstruction, specifically reflected in the CLIPIQA score. These methods still have many challenges in perceptual quality and semantic fidelity. Based on the challenges, we propose VPD-SR, a novel visual perception diffusion distillation framework specifically designed for SR, aiming to construct an effective and efficient one-step SR model. Specifically, VPD-SR consists of two components: Explicit Semantic-aware Supervision (ESS) and High-Frequency Perception (HFP) loss. Firstly, the ESS leverages the powerful visual perceptual understanding capabilities of the CLIP model to extract explicit semantic supervision, thereby enhancing semantic consistency. Then, Considering that high-frequency information contributes to the visual perception quality of images, in addition to the vanilla distillation loss, the HFP loss guides the student model to restore the missing high-frequency details in degraded images that are critical for enhancing perceptual quality. Lastly, we expand VPD-SR in adversarial training manner to further enhance the authenticity of the generated content. Extensive experiments conducted on synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed VPD-SR achieves superior performance compared to both previous state-of-the-art methods and the teacher model with just one-step sampling.

Protein Inverse Folding From Structure Feedback

The inverse folding problem, aiming to design amino acid sequences that fold into desired three-dimensional structures, is pivotal for various biotechnological applications. Here, we introduce a novel approach leveraging Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) to fine-tune an inverse folding model using feedback from a protein folding model. Given a target protein structure, we begin by sampling candidate sequences from the inverse-folding model, then predict the three-dimensional structure of each sequence with the folding model to generate pairwise structural-preference labels. These labels are used to fine-tune the inverse-folding model under the DPO objective. Our results on the CATH 4.2 test set demonstrate that DPO fine-tuning not only improves sequence recovery of baseline models but also leads to a significant improvement in average TM-Score from 0.77 to 0.81, indicating enhanced structure similarity. Furthermore, iterative application of our DPO-based method on challenging protein structures yields substantial gains, with an average TM-Score increase of 79.5\% with regard to the baseline model. This work establishes a promising direction for enhancing protein sequence design ability from structure feedback by effectively utilizing preference optimization.

Adversarial Preference Learning for Robust LLM Alignment

Modern language models often rely on Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) to encourage safe behaviors. However, they remain vulnerable to adversarial attacks due to three key limitations: (1) the inefficiency and high cost of human annotation, (2) the vast diversity of potential adversarial attacks, and (3) the risk of feedback bias and reward hacking. To address these challenges, we introduce Adversarial Preference Learning (APL), an iterative adversarial training method incorporating three key innovations. First, a direct harmfulness metric based on the model's intrinsic preference probabilities, eliminating reliance on external assessment. Second, a conditional generative attacker that synthesizes input-specific adversarial variations. Third, an iterative framework with automated closed-loop feedback, enabling continuous adaptation through vulnerability discovery and mitigation. Experiments on Mistral-7B-Instruct-v0.3 demonstrate that APL significantly enhances robustness, achieving 83.33% harmlessness win rate over the base model (evaluated by GPT-4o), reducing harmful outputs from 5.88% to 0.43% (measured by LLaMA-Guard), and lowering attack success rate by up to 65% according to HarmBench. Notably, APL maintains competitive utility, with an MT-Bench score of 6.59 (comparable to the baseline 6.78) and an LC-WinRate of 46.52% against the base model.

Omni-Dish: Photorealistic and Faithful Image Generation and Editing for Arbitrary Chinese Dishes

Dish images play a crucial role in the digital era, with the demand for culturally distinctive dish images continuously increasing due to the digitization of the food industry and e-commerce. In general cases, existing text-to-image generation models excel in producing high-quality images; however, they struggle to capture diverse characteristics and faithful details of specific domains, particularly Chinese dishes. To address this limitation, we propose Omni-Dish, the first text-to-image generation model specifically tailored for Chinese dishes. We develop a comprehensive dish curation pipeline, building the largest dish dataset to date. Additionally, we introduce a recaption strategy and employ a coarse-to-fine training scheme to help the model better learn fine-grained culinary nuances. During inference, we enhance the user's textual input using a pre-constructed high-quality caption library and a large language model, enabling more photorealistic and faithful image generation. Furthermore, to extend our model's capability for dish editing tasks, we propose Concept-Enhanced P2P. Based on this approach, we build a dish editing dataset and train a specialized editing model. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our methods.

DSPO: Direct Semantic Preference Optimization for Real-World Image Super-Resolution

Recent advances in diffusion models have improved Real-World Image Super-Resolution (Real-ISR), but existing methods lack human feedback integration, risking misalignment with human preference and may leading to artifacts, hallucinations and harmful content generation. To this end, we are the first to introduce human preference alignment into Real-ISR, a technique that has been successfully applied in Large Language Models and Text-to-Image tasks to effectively enhance the alignment of generated outputs with human preferences. Specifically, we introduce Direct Preference Optimization (DPO) into Real-ISR to achieve alignment, where DPO serves as a general alignment technique that directly learns from the human preference dataset. Nevertheless, unlike high-level tasks, the pixel-level reconstruction objectives of Real-ISR are difficult to reconcile with the image-level preferences of DPO, which can lead to the DPO being overly sensitive to local anomalies, leading to reduced generation quality. To resolve this dichotomy, we propose Direct Semantic Preference Optimization (DSPO) to align instance-level human preferences by incorporating semantic guidance, which is through two strategies: (a) semantic instance alignment strategy, implementing instance-level alignment to ensure fine-grained perceptual consistency, and (b) user description feedback strategy, mitigating hallucinations through semantic textual feedback on instance-level images. As a plug-and-play solution, DSPO proves highly effective in both one-step and multi-step SR frameworks.

Image Editing with Diffusion Models: A Survey

With deeper exploration of diffusion model, developments in the field of image generation have triggered a boom in image creation. As the quality of base-model generated images continues to improve, so does the demand for further application like image editing. In recent years, many remarkable works are realizing a wide variety of editing effects. However, the wide variety of editing types and diverse editing approaches have made it difficult for researchers to establish a comprehensive view of the development of this field. In this survey, we summarize the image editing field from four aspects: tasks definition, methods classification, results evaluation and editing datasets. First, we provide a definition of image editing, which in turn leads to a variety of editing task forms from the perspective of operation parts and manipulation actions. Subsequently, we categorize and summary methods for implementing editing into three categories: inversion-based, fine-tuning-based and adapter-based. In addition, we organize the currently used metrics, available datasets and corresponding construction methods. At the end, we present some visions for the future development of the image editing field based on the previous summaries.

WildSeg3D: Segment Any 3D Objects in the Wild from 2D Images

Recent advances in interactive 3D segmentation from 2D images have demonstrated impressive performance. However, current models typically require extensive scene-specific training to accurately reconstruct and segment objects, which limits their applicability in real-time scenarios. In this paper, we introduce WildSeg3D, an efficient approach that enables the segmentation of arbitrary 3D objects across diverse environments using a feed-forward mechanism. A key challenge of this feed-forward approach lies in the accumulation of 3D alignment errors across multiple 2D views, which can lead to inaccurate 3D segmentation results. To address this issue, we propose Dynamic Global Aligning (DGA), a technique that improves the accuracy of global multi-view alignment by focusing on difficult-to-match 3D points across images, using a dynamic adjustment function. Additionally, for real-time interactive segmentation, we introduce Multi-view Group Mapping (MGM), a method that utilizes an object mask cache to integrate multi-view segmentations and respond rapidly to user prompts. WildSeg3D demonstrates robust generalization across arbitrary scenes, thereby eliminating the need for scene-specific training. Specifically, WildSeg3D not only attains the accuracy of state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods but also achieves a $40\times$ speedup compared to existing SOTA models. Our code will be publicly available.

Autoregressive Image Generation with Vision Full-view Prompt

In autoregressive (AR) image generation, models based on the 'next-token prediction' paradigm of LLMs have shown comparable performance to diffusion models by reducing inductive biases. However, directly applying LLMs to complex image generation can struggle with reconstructing the image's structure and details, impacting the generation's accuracy and stability. Additionally, the 'next-token prediction' paradigm in the AR model does not align with the contextual scanning and logical reasoning processes involved in human visual perception, limiting effective image generation. Prompt engineering, as a key technique for guiding LLMs, leverages specifically designed prompts to improve model performance on complex natural language processing (NLP) tasks, enhancing accuracy and stability of generation while maintaining contextual coherence and logical consistency, similar to human reasoning. Inspired by prompt engineering from the field of NLP, we propose Vision Full-view prompt (VF prompt) to enhance autoregressive image generation. Specifically, we design specialized image-related VF prompts for AR image generation to simulate the process of human image creation. This enhances contextual logic ability by allowing the model to first perceive overall distribution information before generating the image, and improve generation stability by increasing the inference steps. Compared to the AR method without VF prompts, our method shows outstanding performance and achieves an approximate improvement of 20%.

Deformable Mamba for Wide Field of View Segmentation

Recent advancements in the Mamba architecture, with its linear computational complexity, being a promising alternative to transformer architectures suffering from quadratic complexity. While existing works primarily focus on adapting Mamba as vision encoders, the critical role of task-specific Mamba decoders remains under-explored, particularly for distortion-prone dense prediction tasks. This paper addresses two interconnected challenges: (1) The design of a Mamba-based decoder that seamlessly adapts to various architectures (e.g., CNN-, Transformer-, and Mamba-based backbones), and (2) The performance degradation in decoders lacking distortion-aware capability when processing wide-FoV images (e.g., 180° fisheye and 360° panoramic settings). We propose the Deformable Mamba Decoder, an efficient distortion-aware decoder that integrates Mamba's computational efficiency with adaptive distortion awareness. Comprehensive experiments on five wide-FoV segmentation benchmarks validate its effectiveness. Notably, our decoder achieves a +2.5% performance improvement on the 360° Stanford2D3D segmentation benchmark while reducing 72% parameters and 97% FLOPs, as compared to the widely-used decoder heads.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Sensing Surface enables Wireless Powered Communication Networks: Interference Suppression and Massive Wireless Energy Transfer

Recently, a novel structures of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) integrating both passive and active elements, termed reconfigurable intelligent sensing surface (RISS), efficiently addresses challenges in RIS channel estimation and mitigates issues related to multiplicative path loss by processing the signal at the RISS. In this paper, we propose a sensing-assisted wirelessly powered communication network (WPCN) that utilizes RISS's sensing capabilities to maximize the channel capacity in uplink wireless information transfer (WIT) and assist in massive wireless energy transmission (WET) for downlink. For the WIT in the uplink, the sensing information is utilized to design an interference suppression passive reflection phase shift for the RISS, and take the imperfect sensing results and sharp null into consideration, we also propose a robust scheme. For the WET in the downlink, the massive WET scheme is adopted and benefits from a period of sensing results. The massive WET scheme including beam selection and rotation order optimization to enhance the lower bound of energy harvest for massive users and optimize waiting costs. Numerical results demonstrate the optimal interference suppression threshold for uplink WIT and underscore the achieved fairness in downlink WET. Collectively, by utilizing sensing information, the uplink channel capacity is improved by 20\%, and the worst energy performance and waiting costs for massive WET are effectively optimized, with improvements ranging from 19\% to 59\% and 27\% to 29\%, respectively.

Low-Complexity Beamforming Design for Null Space-based Simultaneous Wireless Information and Power Transfer Systems

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is a promising technology for the upcoming sixth-generation (6G) communication networks, enabling internet of things (IoT) devices and sensors to extend their operational lifetimes. In this paper, we propose a SWIPT scheme by projecting the interference signals from both intra-wireless information transfer (WIT) and inter-wireless energy transfer (WET) into the null space, simplifying the system into a point-to-point WIT and WET problem. Upon further analysis, we confirm that dedicated energy beamforming is unnecessary. In addition, we develop a low-complexity algorithm to solve the problem efficiently, further reducing computational overhead. Numerical results validate our analysis, showing that the computational complexity is reduced by 97.5\% and 99.96\% for the cases of $K^I = K^E = 2$, $M = 4$ and $K^I = K^E = 16$, $M = 64$, respectively.

Bedrock Models in Communication and Sensing: Advancing Generalization, Transferability, and Performance

Deep learning (DL) has emerged as a powerful tool for addressing the intricate challenges inherent in communication and sensing systems, significantly enhancing the intelligence of future sixth-generation (6G) networks. A substantial body of research has highlighted the promise of DL-based techniques in these domains. However, in addition to improving accuracy, new challenges must be addressed regarding the generalization and transferability of DL-based systems. To tackle these issues, this paper introduces a series of mathematically grounded and modularized models, referred to as bedrock models, specifically designed for integration into both communication and sensing systems. Due to their modular architecture, these models can be seamlessly incorporated into existing communication and sensing frameworks. For communication systems, the proposed models demonstrate substantial performance improvements while also exhibit strong transferability, enabling direct parameter sharing across different tasks, which greatly facilitates practical deployment. In sensing applications, the integration of the bedrock models into existing systems results in superior performance, reducing delay and Doppler estimation errors by an order of magnitude compared to traditional methods. Additionally, a pre-equalization strategy based on the bedrock models is proposed for the transmitter. By leveraging sensing information, the transmitted communication signal is dynamically adjusted without altering the communication model pre-trained in AWGN channels. This adaptation enables the system to effectively cope with doubly dispersive channels, restoring the received signal to an AWGN-like condition and achieving near-optimal performance. Simulation results substantiate the effectiveness and transferability of the proposed bedrock models, underscoring their potential to advance both communication and sensing systems.

Holographic Integrated Data and Energy Transfer

Thanks to the application of metamaterials, holographic multiple-input multiple-output (H-MIMO) is expected to achieve a higher spatial diversity gain by enabling the ability to generate any current distribution on the surface. With the aid of electromagnetic (EM) manipulation capability of H-MIMO, integrated data and energy transfer (IDET) system can fully exploits the EM channel to realize energy focusing and eliminate inter-user interference, which yields the concept of holographic IDET (H-IDET). In this paper, we invetigate the beamforming designs for H-IDET systems, where the sum-rate of data users (DUs) are maximized by guaranteeing the energy harvesting requirements of energy users (EUs). In order to solve the non-convex functional programming, a block coordinate descent (BCD) based scheme is proposed, wherein the Fourier transform and the equivalence between the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and the mean-square error (MSE) are also conceived, followed by the successive convex approximation (SCA) and an initialization scheme to enhance robustness. Numerical results illustrate that our proposed H-IDET scheme outperforms benchmark schemes, especially the one adopting traditional discrete antennas. Besides, the near-field focusing using EM channel model achieves better performance compared to that using the traditional channel model, especially for WPT where the EUs are usually close to the transmitter.

High-Resolution Image Synthesis via Next-Token Prediction

Recently, autoregressive models have demonstrated remarkable performance in class-conditional image generation. However, the application of next-token prediction to high-resolution text-to-image generation remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we introduce \textbf{D-JEPA$\cdot$T2I}, an autoregressive model based on continuous tokens that incorporates innovations in both architecture and training strategy to generate high-quality, photorealistic images at arbitrary resolutions, up to 4K. Architecturally, we adopt the denoising joint embedding predictive architecture (D-JEPA) while leveraging a multimodal visual transformer to effectively integrate textual and visual features. Additionally, we introduce flow matching loss alongside the proposed Visual Rotary Positional Embedding (VoPE) to enable continuous resolution learning. In terms of training strategy, we propose a data feedback mechanism that dynamically adjusts the sampling procedure based on statistical analysis and an online learning critic model. This encourages the model to move beyond its comfort zone, reducing redundant training on well-mastered scenarios and compelling it to address more challenging cases with suboptimal generation quality. For the first time, we achieve state-of-the-art high-resolution image synthesis via next-token prediction.

CBQ: Cross-Block Quantization for Large Language Models

Post-training quantization (PTQ) has played a key role in compressing large language models (LLMs) with ultra-low costs. However, existing PTQ methods only focus on handling the outliers within one layer or one block, which ignores the dependency of blocks and leads to severe performance degradation in low-bit settings. In this paper, we propose CBQ, a cross-block reconstruction-based PTQ method for LLMs. CBQ employs a cross-block dependency using a homologous reconstruction scheme, establishing long-range dependencies across multiple blocks to minimize error accumulation. Furthermore, CBQ incorporates a coarse-to-fine preprocessing (CFP) strategy for suppressing weight and activation outliers, coupled with an adaptive LoRA-Rounding technique for precise weight quantization. These innovations enable CBQ to not only handle extreme outliers effectively but also improve overall quantization accuracy. Extensive experiments show that CBQ achieves superior low-bit quantization (W4A4, W4A8, W2A16) and outperforms existing state-of-the-art methods across various LLMs and datasets. Notably, CBQ quantizes the 4-bit LLAMA1-65B model within only 4.3 hours on a single GPU, achieving a commendable tradeoff between performance and quantization efficiency.

Fluid Antenna Multiple Access Assisted Integrated Data and Energy Transfer: Outage and Multiplexing Gain Analysis

Fluid antenna multiple access (FAMA) exploits the spatial opportunities in wireless channels to overcome multiuser interference by position (a.k.a.~port) switching, which can achieve better performance compared to traditional fixed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. Additionally, integrated data and energy transfer (IDET) is capable of providing both wireless data transfer (WDT) and wireless energy transfer (WET) services towards low-power devices. In this paper, a FAMA-assisted IDET system is investigated, where a base station (BS) equipped with $N$ fixed antennas provides dedicated IDET services towards $N$ user equipments (UEs). Each UE is equipped with a single fluid antenna, while the power splitting (PS) approach is conceived for coordinating WDT and WET. The outage probabilities of both WDT and WET are derived and approximated into closed-forms, where the fluid antenna (FA) at each UE selects the optimal port to achieve the maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) or the energy harvesting power (EHP). The IDET outage probabilities are defined and subsequently derived and approximated into closed-forms. Further, multiplexing gains of the proposed system are defined and analyzed to evaluate the performace. Numerical results validate the theoretical analysis, while also illustrate that the trade-off is achieved between WDT and WET performance by exploiting different port selection strategies. Furthermore, the number of UEs should be optimized to achieve better IDET performance of the system.

Dynamic Frequency-Adaptive Knowledge Distillation for Speech Enhancement

Deep learning-based speech enhancement (SE) models have recently outperformed traditional techniques, yet their deployment on resource-constrained devices remains challenging due to high computational and memory demands. This paper introduces a novel dynamic frequency-adaptive knowledge distillation (DFKD) approach to effectively compress SE models. Our method dynamically assesses the model's output, distinguishing between high and low-frequency components, and adapts the learning objectives to meet the unique requirements of different frequency bands, capitalizing on the SE task's inherent characteristics. To evaluate the DFKD's efficacy, we conducted experiments on three state-of-the-art models: DCCRN, ConTasNet, and DPTNet. The results demonstrate that our method not only significantly enhances the performance of the compressed model (student model) but also surpasses other logit-based knowledge distillation methods specifically for SE tasks.

Denoising with a Joint-Embedding Predictive Architecture

Joint-embedding predictive architectures (JEPAs) have shown substantial promise in self-supervised representation learning, yet their application in generative modeling remains underexplored. Conversely, diffusion models have demonstrated significant efficacy in modeling arbitrary probability distributions. In this paper, we introduce Denoising with a Joint-Embedding Predictive Architecture (D-JEPA), pioneering the integration of JEPA within generative modeling. By recognizing JEPA as a form of masked image modeling, we reinterpret it as a generalized next-token prediction strategy, facilitating data generation in an auto-regressive manner. Furthermore, we incorporate diffusion loss to model the per-token probability distribution, enabling data generation in a continuous space. We also adapt flow matching loss as an alternative to diffusion loss, thereby enhancing the flexibility of D-JEPA. Empirically, with increased GFLOPs, D-JEPA consistently achieves lower FID scores with fewer training epochs, indicating its good scalability. Our base, large, and huge models outperform all previous generative models across all scales on ImageNet conditional generation benchmarks. Beyond image generation, D-JEPA is well-suited for other continuous data modeling, including video and audio.
