Simulation study of the cosmic ray Sun shadow with a time-dependent solar magnetic field model

During the propagation of cosmic rays in the solar system, the Sun will block those particles and form a shadow whose position and depth are very important probe of the magnetic fields in the Sun's corona, in the interplanetary space, and the Earth's vicinity. In this work we carry out Monte Carlo studies of the Sun shadow, with a novel approach to take into account daily variations of the coronal and interplanetary magnetic field models. This treatment is suitable for studies of short-term variations of the Sun shadow, which become detectable by the Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) experiment. Two different coronal magnetic field models, the Potential Field Source Surface (PFSS) and Current Sheet Source Surface (CSSS) models, with observational time-varying photospheric magnetic fields as boundary conditions, are studied in this work. The interplanetary magnetic fields are then derived using the Parker spiral model based on the coronal ones. Furthermore, both the coronal and interplanetary magnetic field strengths are corrected using the Parker Solar Probe (PSP) measurements. We compare the simulation results with the daily observations of Sun shadow by LHAASO in 2021, and find that the CSSS model generally shows better consistency of the displacement of the Sun shadow than the PFSS model.

Compress, Cross and Scale: Multi-Level Compression Cross Networks for Efficient Scaling in Recommender Systems

Modeling high-order feature interactions efficiently is a central challenge in click-through rate and conversion rate prediction. Modern industrial recommender systems are predominantly built upon deep learning recommendation models, where the interaction backbone plays a critical role in determining both predictive performance and system efficiency. However, existing interaction modules often struggle to simultaneously achieve strong interaction capacity, high computational efficiency, and good scalability, resulting in limited ROI when models are scaled under strict production constraints. In this work, we propose MLCC, a structured feature interaction architecture that organizes feature crosses through hierarchical compression and dynamic composition, which can efficiently capture high-order feature dependencies while maintaining favorable computational complexity. We further introduce MC-MLCC, a Multi-Channel extension that decomposes feature interactions into parallel subspaces, enabling efficient horizontal scaling with improved representation capacity and significantly reduced parameter growth. Extensive experiments on three public benchmarks and a large-scale industrial dataset show that our proposed models consistently outperform strong DLRM-style baselines by up to 0.52 AUC, while reducing model parameters and FLOPs by up to 26$\times$ under comparable performance. Comprehensive scaling analyses demonstrate stable and predictable scaling behavior across embedding dimension, head number, and channel count, with channel-based scaling achieving substantially better efficiency than conventional embedding inflation. Finally, online A/B testing on a real-world advertising platform validates the practical effectiveness of our approach, which has been widely adopted in Bilibili advertising system under strict latency and resource constraints.

Neural-Driven Image Editing

Traditional image editing typically relies on manual prompting, making it labor-intensive and inaccessible to individuals with limited motor control or language abilities. Leveraging recent advances in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) and generative models, we propose LoongX, a hands-free image editing approach driven by multimodal neurophysiological signals. LoongX utilizes state-of-the-art diffusion models trained on a comprehensive dataset of 23,928 image editing pairs, each paired with synchronized electroencephalography (EEG), functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), photoplethysmography (PPG), and head motion signals that capture user intent. To effectively address the heterogeneity of these signals, LoongX integrates two key modules. The cross-scale state space (CS3) module encodes informative modality-specific features. The dynamic gated fusion (DGF) module further aggregates these features into a unified latent space, which is then aligned with edit semantics via fine-tuning on a diffusion transformer (DiT). Additionally, we pre-train the encoders using contrastive learning to align cognitive states with semantic intentions from embedded natural language. Extensive experiments demonstrate that LoongX achieves performance comparable to text-driven methods (CLIP-I: 0.6605 vs. 0.6558; DINO: 0.4812 vs. 0.4636) and outperforms them when neural signals are combined with speech (CLIP-T: 0.2588 vs. 0.2549). These results highlight the promise of neural-driven generative models in enabling accessible, intuitive image editing and open new directions for cognitive-driven creative technologies. The code and dataset are released on the project website: https://loongx1.github.io.

Uni-Neur2Img: Unified Neural Signal-Guided Image Generation, Editing, and Stylization via Diffusion Transformers

Generating or editing images directly from Neural signals has immense potential at the intersection of neuroscience, vision, and Brain-computer interaction. In this paper, We present Uni-Neur2Img, a unified framework for neural signal-driven image generation and editing. The framework introduces a parameter-efficient LoRA-based neural signal injection module that independently processes each conditioning signal as a pluggable component, facilitating flexible multi-modal conditioning without altering base model parameters. Additionally, we employ a causal attention mechanism accommodate the long-sequence modeling demands of conditional generation tasks. Existing neural-driven generation research predominantly focuses on textual modalities as conditions or intermediate representations, resulting in limited exploration of visual modalities as direct conditioning signals. To bridge this research gap, we introduce the EEG-Style dataset. We conduct comprehensive evaluations across public benchmarks and self-collected neural signal datasets: (1) EEG-driven image generation on the public CVPR40 dataset; (2) neural signal-guided image editing on the public Loongx dataset for semantic-aware local modifications; and (3) EEG-driven style transfer on our self-collected EEG-Style dataset. Extensive experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in generation fidelity, editing consistency, and style transfer quality while maintaining low computational overhead and strong scalability to additional modalities. Thus, Uni-Neur2Img offers a unified, efficient, and extensible solution for bridging neural signals and visual content generation.

Wearable Music2Emotion : Assessing Emotions Induced by AI-Generated Music through Portable EEG-fNIRS Fusion

Emotions critically influence mental health, driving interest in music-based affective computing via neurophysiological signals with Brain-computer Interface techniques. While prior studies leverage music's accessibility for emotion induction, three key limitations persist: \textbf{(1) Stimulus Constraints}: Music stimuli are confined to small corpora due to copyright and curation costs, with selection biases from heuristic emotion-music mappings that ignore individual affective profiles. \textbf{(2) Modality Specificity}: Overreliance on unimodal neural data (e.g., EEG) ignores complementary insights from cross-modal signal fusion.\textbf{ (3) Portability Limitation}: Cumbersome setups (e.g., 64+ channel gel-based EEG caps) hinder real-world applicability due to procedural complexity and portability barriers. To address these limitations, we propose MEEtBrain, a portable and multimodal framework for emotion analysis (valence/arousal), integrating AI-generated music stimuli with synchronized EEG-fNIRS acquisition via a wireless headband. By MEEtBrain, the music stimuli can be automatically generated by AI on a large scale, eliminating subjective selection biases while ensuring music diversity. We use our developed portable device that is designed in a lightweight headband-style and uses dry electrodes, to simultaneously collect EEG and fNIRS recordings. A 14-hour dataset from 20 participants was collected in the first recruitment to validate the framework's efficacy, with AI-generated music eliciting target emotions (valence/arousal). We are actively expanding our multimodal dataset (44 participants in the latest dataset) and make it publicly available to promote further research and practical applications. \textbf{The dataset is available at https://zju-bmi-lab.github.io/ZBra.

AT2020hur: A Possible Optical Counterpart of FRB 180916B

The physical origin of fast radio bursts (FRBs) remains unclear. Finding multiwavelength counterparts of FRBs can be a breakthrough in understanding their nature. In this work, we perform a systematic search for astronomical transients (ATs) whose positions are consistent with FRBs. We find an unclassified optical transient AT2020hur ($α=01^{\mathrm{h}} 58^{\mathrm{m}} 00.750^{\mathrm{s}} \pm 1$ arcsec, $δ=65^{\circ} 43^{\prime} 00.30^{\prime \prime} \pm 1$ arcsec) that is spatially coincident with the repeating FRB 180916B ($α=01^{\mathrm{h}} 58^{\mathrm{m}} 00.7502^{\mathrm{s}} \pm 2.3$ mas, $δ=65^{\circ} 43^{\prime} 00.3152^{\prime \prime} \pm 2.3$ mas). The chance possibility for the AT2020hur-FRB 180916B association is about 0.04%, which corresponds to a significance of $3.5σ$. We develop a giant flare afterglow model to fit AT2020hur. Although the giant flare afterglow model can interpret the observations of AT2020hur, the derived kinetic energy of such a GF is at least three orders of magnitude larger than that of the typical GF, and there is a lot of fine tuning and coincidences required for this model. Another possible explanation is that AT2020hur might consist of two or more optical flares originating from the FRB source, e.g. fast optical bursts produced by the inverse Compton scattering of FRB emission. Besides, AT2020hur is located in one of the activity windows of FRB 180916B, which is an independent support for the association. This coincidence may be due to the reason that the optical counterpart is subject to the same periodic modulation as FRB 180916B, as implied by the prompt FRB counterparts. Future simultaneous observations of FRBs and their optical counterparts may help reveal their physical origin.

Application of a new information priority accumulated grey model with time power to predict short-term wind turbine capacity

Wind energy makes a significant contribution to global power generation. Predicting wind turbine capacity is becoming increasingly crucial for cleaner production. For this purpose, a new information priority accumulated grey model with time power is proposed to predict short-term wind turbine capacity. Firstly, the computational formulas for the time response sequence and the prediction values are deduced by grey modeling technique and the definite integral trapezoidal approximation formula. Secondly, an intelligent algorithm based on particle swarm optimization is applied to determine the optimal nonlinear parameters of the novel model. Thirdly, three real numerical examples are given to examine the accuracy of the new model by comparing with six existing prediction models. Finally, based on the wind turbine capacity from 2007 to 2017, the proposed model is established to predict the total wind turbine capacity in Europe, North America, Asia, and the world. The numerical results reveal that the novel model is superior to other forecasting models. It has a great advantage for small samples with new characteristic behaviors. Besides, reasonable suggestions are put forward from the standpoint of the practitioners and governments, which has high potential to advance the sustainable improvement of clean energy production in the future.

l-adic Monodromy and Shimura curves in positive characteristics

In this paper, we seek an appropriate definition for a Shimura curve of Hodge type in positive characteristics, i.e. a characterization, in terms of geometry mod p, of curves in positive characteristics which are reduction of Shimura curves over the complex field. Specifically, we study the liftablity of a curve in moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties over k, char k=p. We show that some conditions on the l-adic monodromy over such a curve imply that this curve can be lifted to a Shimura curve.

Tensor decomposition of isocrystals characterizes Mumford curves

We seek an appropriate definition for a Shimura curve of Hodge type in positive characteristics via characterizing curves in positive characteristics which are reduction of Shimura curve over $\mathbb{C}$. In this paper, we study the liftablity of a curve in the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties over $k, \text{char} k=p$. We show that in the generic ordinary case, some tensor decomposition of the isocrystal associated to the family imply that this curve can be lifted to a Shimura curve.

On the deformation of a Barsotti-Tate group over a curve

In this paper, we study deformations of pairs (C,G) where G is a height 2 BT(or BT_n) group over a complete curve on algebraically closed field k of characteristic p. We prove that, if the curve C is a versal deformation of G, then there exists a unique lifting of the pair to the Witt ring W. We apply this result in the case of Shimura curves to obtain a lifting criterion.
