Polymerized Feature-based Domain Adaptation for Cervical Cancer Dose Map Prediction

Recently, deep learning (DL) has automated and accelerated the clinical radiation therapy (RT) planning significantly by predicting accurate dose maps. However, most DL-based dose map prediction methods are data-driven and not applicable for cervical cancer where only a small amount of data is available. To address this problem, this paper proposes to transfer the rich knowledge learned from another cancer, i.e., rectum cancer, which has the same scanning area and more clinically available data, to improve the dose map prediction performance for cervical cancer through domain adaptation. In order to close the congenital domain gap between the source (i.e., rectum cancer) and the target (i.e., cervical cancer) domains, we develop an effective Transformer-based polymerized feature module (PFM), which can generate an optimal polymerized feature distribution to smoothly align the two input distributions. Experimental results on two in-house clinical datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method compared with state-of-the-art methods.

The effect of Quantum Statistics on the sensitivity in an SU(1,1) interferometer

We theoretically study the effect of quantum statistics of the light field on the quantum enhancement of parameter estimation based on cat state input the SU(1,1) interferometer. The phase sensitivity is dependent on the relative phase $θ$ between two coherent states of Schrödinger cat states. The optimal sensitivity is achieved when the relative phase is $π$% , i.e., odd coherent states input. For a coherent state input into one port, the phase sensitivity of the odd coherent state into the second input port is inferior to that of the squeezed vacuum state input. However, in the presence of losses the Schrödinger cat states are more resistant to loss than squeezed vacuum states. As the amplitude of Schrödinger cat states increases, the quantum enhancement of phase sensitivity decreases, which shows that the quantum statistics of Schrödinger cat states tends towards Poisson statistics from sub-Poisson statistics or super-Poisson statistics.

Ultimate precision limit of SU(2) and SU(1,1) interferometers in noisy metrology

The quantum Fisher information (QFI) in SU(2) and SU(1,1) interferometers was considered, and the QFI-only calculation was overestimated. In general, the phase estimation as a two-parameter estimation problem, and the quantum Fisher information matrix (QFIM) is necessary. In this paper, we theoretically generalize the model developed by Escher et al [Nature Physics 7, 406 (2011)] to the QFIM case with noise and study the ultimate precision limits of SU(2) and SU(1,1) interferometers with photon losses because photon losses as a very usual noise may happen to the phase measurement process. Using coherent state and squeezed vacuum state as a specific example, we numerically analyze the variation of the overestimated QFI with the loss coefficient, and find its disappearance and recovery phenomenon.

Downlink Power Minimization in Intelligent Reconfigurable Surface-Aided Security Classification Wireless Communications System

User privacy protection is considered a critical issue in wireless networks, which drives the demand for various secure information interaction techniques. In this paper, we introduce an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-aided security classification wireless communication system, which reduces the transmit power of the base station (BS) by classifying users with different security requirements. Specifically, we divide the users into confidential subscribers with secure communication requirements and general communication users with simple communication requirements. During the communication period, we guarantee the secure rate of the confidential subscribers while ensuring the service quality of the general communication users, thereby reducing the transmit power of the BS. To realize such a secure and green information transmission, the BS implements a beamforming design on the transmitted signal superimposed with artificial noise (AN) and then broadcasts it to users with the assistance of the IRS's reflection. We develop an alternating optimization framework to minimize the BS downlink power with respect to the active beamformers of the BS, the AN vector at the BS, and the reflection phase shifts of the IRS. A successive convex approximation (SCA) method is proposed so that the nonconvex beamforming problems can be converted to tractable convex forms. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm is convergent and can reduce the transmit power by 20\% compared to the best benchmark scheme.

Energy-Delay Minimization of Task Migration Based on Game Theory in MEC-assisted Vehicular Networks

Roadside units (RSUs), which have strong computing capability and are close to vehicle nodes, have been widely used to process delay- and computation-intensive tasks of vehicle nodes. However, due to their high mobility, vehicles may drive out of the coverage of RSUs before receiving the task processing results. In this paper, we propose a mobile edge computing-assisted vehicular network, where vehicles can offload their tasks to a nearby vehicle via a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) link or a nearby RSU via a vehicle-to-infrastructure link. These tasks are also migrated by a V2V link or an infrastructure-to-infrastructure (I2I) link to avoid the scenario where the vehicles cannot receive the processed task from the RSUs. Considering mutual interference from the same link of offloading tasks and migrating tasks, we construct a vehicle offloading decision-based game to minimize the computation overhead. We prove that the game can always achieve Nash equilibrium and convergence by exploiting the finite improvement property. We then propose a task migration (TM) algorithm that includes three task-processing methods and two task-migration methods. Based on the TM algorithm, computation overhead minimization offloading (COMO) algorithm is presented. Extensive simulation results show that the proposed TM and COMO algorithms reduce the computation overhead and increase the success rate of task processing.

Placement and Resource Allocation of Wireless-Powered Multiantenna UAV for Energy-Efficient Multiuser NOMA

This paper investigates a new downlink nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system, where a multiantenna unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is powered by wireless power transfer (WPT) and serves as the base station for multiple pairs of ground users (GUs) running NOMA in each pair. An energy efficiency (EE) maximization problem is formulated to jointly optimize the WPT time and the placement for the UAV, and the allocation of the UAV's transmit power between different NOMA user pairs and within each pair. To efficiently solve this nonconvex problem, we decompose the problem into three subproblems using block coordinate descent. For the subproblem of intra-pair power allocation within each NOMA user pair, we construct a supermodular game with confirmed convergence to a Nash equilibrium. Given the intra-pair power allocation, successive convex approximation is applied to convexify and solve the subproblem of WPT time allocation and inter-pair power allocation between the user pairs. Finally, we solve the subproblem of UAV placement by using the Lagrange multiplier method. Simulations show that our approach can substantially outperform its alternatives that do not use NOMA and WPT techniques or that do not optimize the UAV location.

Joint Estimation of Multipath Angles and Delays for Millimeter-Wave Cylindrical Arrays with Hybrid Front-ends

Accurate channel parameter estimation is challenging for wideband millimeter-wave (mmWave) large-scale hybrid arrays, due to beam squint and much fewer radio frequency (RF) chains than antennas. This paper presents a novel joint delay and angle estimation approach for wideband mmWave fully-connected hybrid uniform cylindrical arrays. We first design a new hybrid beamformer to reduce the dimension of received signals on the horizontal plane by exploiting the convergence of the Bessel function, and to reduce the active beams in the vertical direction through preselection. The important recurrence relationship of the received signals needed for subspace-based angle and delay estimation is preserved, even with substantially fewer RF chains than antennas. Then, linear interpolation is generalized to reconstruct the received signals of the hybrid beamformer, so that the signals can be coherently combined across the whole band to suppress the beam squint. As a result, efficient subspace-based algorithm algorithms can be developed to estimate the angles and delays of multipath components. The estimated delays and angles are further matched and correctly associated with different paths in the presence of non-negligible noises, by putting forth perturbation operations. Simulations show that the proposed approach can approach the Cramér-Rao lower bound (CRLB) of the estimation with a significantly lower computational complexity than existing techniques.

Optimization of the Energy-Efficient Relay-Based massive IoT Network

To meet the requirements of high energy efficiency (EE) and large system capacity for the fifth-generation (5G) Internet of Things (IoT), the use of massive multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) technology has been launched in the massive IoT (mIoT) network, where a large number of devices are connected and scheduled simultaneously. This paper considers the energyefficient design of a multi-pair decode-and-forward relay-based IoT network, in which multiple sources simultaneously transmit their information to the corresponding destinations via a relay equipped with a large array. In order to obtain an accurate yet tractable expression of the EE, firstly, a closed-form expression of the EE is derived under an idealized simplifying assumption, in which the location of each device is known by the network. Then, an exact integral-based expression of the EE is derived under the assumption that the devices are randomly scattered following a uniform distribution and transmit power of the relay is equally shared among the destination devices. Furthermore, a simple yet efficient lower bound of the EE is obtained. Based on this, finally, a low-complexity energy-efficient resource allocation strategy of the mIoT network is proposed under the specific qualityof- service (QoS) constraint. The proposed strategy determines the near-optimal number of relay antennas, the near-optimal transmit power at the relay and near-optimal density of active mIoT device pairs in a given coverage area. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy of the performance analysis and the efficiency of the proposed algorithms.

Millimeter-Wave NOMA Transmission in Cellular M2M Communications for Internet of Things

Massive connectivity and low latency are two important challenges for the Internet of Things (IoT) to achieve the Quality of Service (QoS) provisions required by the numerous devices it is designed to service. Motivated by these challenges, in the paper we introduce a new millimeter-wave non-orthogonal multiple access (mmWave-NOMA) transmission scheme designed for cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) communication systems for IoT applications. It consists of one base station (BS) and numerous multiple machine type communication (MTC) devices operating in a cellular communication environment. We consider its down-link performance and assume that multiple MTC devices share the same communication resources offered by the proposed mmWave-NOMA transmission scheme, which can support massive connectivity. For this system, a novel MTC pairing scheme is introduced the design of which is based upon the distance between the BS and the MTC devices aiming at reducing the system overall overhead for massive connectivity and latency. In particular, we consider three different MTC device pairing schemes, namely i) the random near and the random far MTC devices (RNRF); ii) the nearest near and the nearest far MTC devices (NNNF); and iii) the nearest near and the farthest far MTC device (NNFF). For all three pairing schemes, their performance is analyzed by deriving closed-form expressions of the outage probability and the sum rate. Furthermore, performance comparison studies of the three MTC device pairing schemes have been carried out.

Improvement on Fermionic properties and new isotope production in molecular dynamics simulations

By considering momentum transfer in the Fermi constraint procedure, the stability of the initial nuclei and fragments produced in heavy-ion collisions can be further improved in the quantum molecular dynamics simulations. The case of the phase space occupation probability larger than one is effectively reduced with the proposed procedure. Simultaneously, the energy conservation can be better described for both individual nuclei and heavy-ion reactions. With the revised version of the improved quantum molecular dynamics (ImQMD) model, the fusion excitation functions of $^{16}$O+$^{186}$W and the central collisions of Au+Au at 35 AMeV are re-examined. The fusion cross sections at sub-barrier energies and the charge distribution of fragments are relatively better reproduced due to the reduction of spurious nucleon emission. The charge and isotope distribution of fragments in Xe+Sn, U+U and Zr+Sn at intermediate energies are also predicted. More unmeasured extremely neutron-rich fragments with $Z=16-28$ are observed in the central collisions of $^{238}$U+$^{238}$U than that of $^{96}$Zr+$^{124}$Sn, which indicates that multi-fragmentation of U+U may offer a fruitful pathway to new neutron-rich isotopes.
