Study of neutrino oscillation parameters at the INO-ICAL detector using event-by-event reconstruction

We present the reach of the proposed INO-ICAL in measuring the atmospheric-neutrino-oscillation parameters $\theta_{23}$ and $\Delta m^2_{32}$ using full event-by-event reconstruction for the first time. We also study the fluctuations in the data and their effect on the precision measurements and mass-hierarchy analysis for a five-year exposure of the 50 kton ICAL detector. We find a mean resolution of $\Delta\chi^2 \approx 2.9$, which rules out the wrong mass hierarchy of the neutrinos with a significance of approximately $1.7\sigma$. These results are similar to those to presented earlier studies that approximated the performance of the ICAL detector.

Quantum-correlated measurements of $D\to K^{0}_{\rm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ decays and consequences for the determination of the CKM angle $\gamma$

We perform quantum-correlated measurements of the decay $D \to K^{0}_{\rm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.82 fb$^{-1}$ collected at the $\psi(3770)$ resonance by the CLEO-c detector. The value of the $CP$-even fraction $F_{+}$ is determined to be 0.238 $\pm$ 0.012 $\pm$ 0.012. The strong-phase differences are also measured in different regions of $K^{0}_{\rm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ phase space by binning around the intermediate resonances present. The potential sensitivity of the results for determining the CKM angle $\gamma$ from $B^{\pm} \to D(K^{0}_{\rm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0})K^{\pm}$ decays is also discussed.

Quantum-correlated measurements of $D^{0} \to K^{0}_{\rm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ and consequences for the determination of $\gamma$

Quantum-correlated measurements of the decay $D^{0} \to K^{0}_{\rm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ are performed using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 818 pb$^{-1}$ collected at the $\psi(3770)$ resonance by the CLEO-c detector. Preliminary results are presented for the $CP$-even fraction $F_{+}$ and the strong-phase differences of this decay. The value of $F_{+}$ is measured to be 0.246 $\pm$ 0.018. The strong-phase differences are measured in different regions of $K^{0}_{\rm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0}$ phase space by binning around the intermediate resonances present. The potential sensitivity of the results for determining the CKM angle $\gamma$ from $B^{\pm}~\to~D(K^{0}_{\mathrm S}\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{0})K^{\pm}$ decay using the data collected by the Belle detector is also shown.

Direct CP violation in hadronic B decays

These proceedings review direct CP violation in hadronic B decays. The experimental results include those related to the measurement of the unitarity triangle angle gamma using B->D(*)K(*) decays and measurements of charmless hadronic B decays. The results reported have been made by the BABAR, Belle and LHCb collaborations. Theoretical calculations related to these decays are also summarised. The importance of inputs from the charm sector in determining gamma from B->D(*)K(*) decays is discussed. In addition, the future prospects for these measurements will be reviewed.

Flavour physics at CLEO-c

Three CLEO-c results related to flavour-physics are presented: the determination of the strong-phase difference between D0->K+pi- and D0->K-pi+, delta, the measurement of the coherence parameter and average strong-phase difference between D0->K+pi-pi-pi+ and D0 -> K-pi+pi+pi- and measurements of the variation of strong-phase difference between D0 and D0bar decays to K0Spi+pi- over phase space. All measurements are important for determining the unitarity triangle angle gamma from B->D(*)K(*) decays. Furthermore, the measurement of delta is important for interpreting D0-D0bar mixing.

The measurement of R at CLEO

Measurements of the total cross section of e+e- -> hadrons are presented in two different ranges of centre-of-mass energy. The measurements are made using the CLEO III and CLEO-c detectors at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. The absolute cross sections and the values of R, the ratio of hadronic to muon pair production cross sections, are determined at seven centre-of-mass energies between 6.964 and 10.538 GeV. The total cross sections and values of R are also determined at thirteen centre-of-mass energies between 3.97 and 4.26 GeV; in addition, the inclusive and exclusive cross sections for D+, D0 and Ds+ production are presented. Furthermore, for the lower centre-of-mass energy range, exclusive cross-sections are presented for final states consisting of two charm mesons: DDbar, D*Dbar, DDbar*, D*Dbar*, Ds+Ds-, Ds*+Ds-, Ds+Ds*-, DDbar*pi and D*Dbar*pi.
