QCD phase transition at finite temperature and chemical potential with the non-extensive statistics

The intrinsic fluctuations, memory effects and long-range color interactions in high energy nuclear collisions imply the presence of non-Markovian processes in the fireball evolution, which affects the thermalization process towards equilibrium and produces a non-extensive behavior. In order to investigate the non-equilibrium effect on the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) phase transition at finite temperature ($T$) and chemical potential ($μ$), we apply a non-extensive correction to the equation of state in the parton (hadron resonance) gas at high (low) temperature and interpolate these two equation of states with a smooth crossover. The non-extensive statistics is characterized by a non-extensivity parameter $q$, which measures the degrees of deviation from the thermal equilibrium. It is found that the dimensionless thermodynamic quantities such as the entropy density, the pressure, the energy density, the specific heat at constant volume and the trace anomaly are sensitive to the deviation of $q$ from unity and they become large both in the hadronic and quark-gluon plasma phases with the increase of $q$. Moreover, this deviation leads to nontrivial corrections of the squared speed of sound ($(c_s^2)_q$) in the vicinity of the critical point ($T_c$) and at lower temperatures. Additionally, these thermodynamic quantities are sensitive to the deviation of $μ$ from zero. With increasing $μ$, they become enhanced in both phases. Specifically, for $(c_s^2)_q$, the value increases near $T_c$ but decreases at lower temperatures. Finally, we observe that our results with $q=1$ agree well with those from the Lattice QCD, the hadron resonance gas model, and the Thermal-Fist fit to the hadron yields in high energy nuclear collisions in the low temperature region up to $T\sim 150$ MeV.

Extending the short gamma-ray burst population from sub-threshold triggers in Fermi/GBM and GECAM data and its implications

Detection of short gamma-ray bursts (SGRBs) is critically important for the research of compact object mergers and multi-messenger astrophysics, but a significant part of SGRBs fall below the trigger threshold of GRB detectors, and thus are often missed. Here we present a systematic search for and verification of missed SGRBs using Fermi/GBM subthreshold triggers, jointly analyzing data from GBM, GECAM-B, and GECAM-C. Among 466 Fermi/GBM sub-threshold events (with reliability >= 5) from 2021 to 2024, 181 are within GECAM's field of view. We find that 49 out of 181 are confirmed astrophysical transients, and 41 can be classified as SGRBs. Thus, the SGRB detection rate of Fermi/GBM is increased to about 50 per year. Additionally, a complete multi-instrument monitoring and systematic verification of GBM sub-threshold events is expected to further increase the SGRB rate to about 80 per year, which is about 100% improvement relative to the GBM-triggered SGRBs. These results may have important implications on the local formation rate of SGRBs and the binary neutron star merger rate. We also searched for potential temporal coincidences between these SGRBs and gravitational waves from the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA O4 run resulting in no detection.

Search for Type IL Gamma-ray Bursts: Criterion, Results, Verification and Physical Implication

As an interesting subclass of gamma-ray burst (GRB), Type IL GRB (such as GRB 211211A and GRB 230307A) features a long-duration prompt emission but originating from compact binary merger. The "long duration" emisison of Type IL GRB are dominately composed of the main burst, rather than the extended emission, differentiating them from the traditional "long-short" GRB (e.g., GRB 060614). Previous study has reported several Type IL GRBs by visual inspection of their light curves. In this work, we established a detailed criterion to identify Type IL GRBs by light curve, and then systematically searched the archival Fermi/GBM data with this criterion, resulting in a sample of 5 type IL GRBs from January 1, 2014 to January 1, 2024, i.e. GRB 230307A, GRB 211211A, GRB 200914A, GRB 200311A and GRB 170228A. Apart from the light curve pattern, we find that the temporal and spectral properties of these 5 GRBs also support this classification. Interestingly, we find that the energy ratio between extended emission and main emission is almost constant (~0.7, with small scattering) for these GRBs, which have strong implication on the mechanism of Type IL burst. We discuss theoretical models to interpret the progenitor, central engine, and extended emission of these Type IL bursts.

The charmonium-like exotic hadron productions in $e^+e^-$ collisions at the BESIII energy with the PACIAE model

Inspired by the BESIII observation of exotic hadron $G$(3900) in $e^+e^-\rightarrow D\bar D$ process [PRL 133(2024)081901], we use the parton and hadron cascade model PACIAE to simulate the productions of charmonium-like exotic hadrons including $X(3872)$, $Z_{c}(3900)^0$ and $G(3900)$ in the $e^+e^-$ annihilations at $\sqrt s$=4.95 GeV. The charmonium-like candidates are recombined by Dynamically Constrained Phase-space Coalescence model using component mesons $D\bar D$ (for $G(3900)$) or $D\bar D^*/\bar DD^*$ (for $X(3872)$, $Z_{c}(3900)^0$ and $G(3900)$) in the PACIAE simulated final hadronic state. We then calculate, for the first time, the charmonium-like candidate's orbital angular momentum quantum number in its rest frame and perform the spectral classification for each of the above candidates. For $G(3900)$, as its $J^{PC}$ is $1^{--}$, it is identified as the $P$-wave $D\bar D$ or $D\bar D^*/\bar DD^*$ state. Meanwhile, for $X(3872)$ and $Z_{c}(3900)^0$, as their $J^{PC}$s are, respectively, $1^{++}$ and $1^{+-}$, they are identified as the $S$-wave $D\bar D^*/\bar DD^*$ candidates. It is observed that the yield of the $P$-wave $G(3900)$ composed of $D\bar D^*/\bar DD^*$ is significantly larger than that composed of $D\bar D$. Moreover, in the $D\bar D^*/\bar DD^*$ channel, the yield of the $P$-wave $G(3900)$ is around three times as large as the yield of the $S$-wave $Z_{c}(3900)^0$, and it is around two orders of magnitude as large as the yield of the $S$-wave $X(3872)$. Finally, significant discrepancies are observed in the transverse momentum spectra and the rapidity distributions among the $X(3872)$, $Z_{c}(3900)^0$ and $G(3900)$ states. These discrepancies are proposed as valuable criteria for identifying the different charmonium-like exotic hadrons from each other.

Multi-Instrument Search for Gamma-Ray Counterpart of X-ray Transients detected by EP/WXT

As a soft X-ray imager with unprecedentedly large field of view, EP/WXT has detected many (fast) X-ray transients, whose nature is very intriguing. Whether there is gamma-ray counterpart for the X-ray transient provides important implications for its origin. Some of them have been reported to be associated with GRB, however, a systematic study on the gamma-ray emission of these X-ray transients is lacking. In this work, we implemented a comprehensive targeted search for gamma-ray counterparts to 63 X-ray transients reported by EP/WXT during its first year of operation, using the dedicated multiple-instrument search pipeline, ETJASMIN, with GECAM-B, GECAM-C, Fermi/GBM, and \textit{Insight}-HXMT data. We find that 14 out of 63 (22\%) EP/WXT X-ray transients have gamma-ray counterparts. For other transients, ETJASMIN pipeline provided upper limit of gamma-ray emission, which is more stringent than that given by individual instrument. Moreover, we investigated the properties of the X-ray transients and their gamma-ray counterparts, and explored the relation between the x-ray transient and gamma-ray counterpart.

Possible bound states in the triple-$η_c$ and triple-$J/ψ$ systems

The observations of fully-charm tetraquark states in the LHCb, CMS and ATLAS experiments suggested the existence of the hadronic molecules of two-charmonium states, which may also imply bound states in the three-charmonium systems. In this work, we study the possible bound states in the triple-$η_c$ and triple-$J/ψ$ systems with $J^{PC}=0^{-+}$ and $1^{--}$, respectively. In QCD sum rules, we calculate the two-point correlation functions and spectral functions up to the dimension-four gluon condensate. We use the iterative dispersion relation approach to deal with the five-loop banana integrals, which significantly improves the computational efficiency. Our results show that the masses of triple-$η_c$ and triple-$J/ψ$ states lie below the corresponding mass thresholds, supporting the existence of such three-body bound states.

The GECAM Ground Search System for Gamma-ray Transients

In the era of time-domain, multi-messenger astronomy, the detection of transient events on the high-energy electromagnetic sky has become more important than ever. The Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) is a dedicated mission to monitor gamma-ray transients, launched in December, 2020. A real-time on-board trigger and location software, using the traditional signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) method for blind search, is constrained to relatively bright signals due to the limitations in on-board computing resources and the need for real-time search. In this work, we developed a ground-based pipeline for GECAM to search for various transients, especially for weak bursts missed by on-board software. This pipeline includes both automatic and manual mode, offering options for blind search and targeted search. The targeted search is specifically designed to search for interesting weak bursts, such as gravitational wave-associated gamma-ray bursts (GRBs). From the ground search of the data in the first year, GECAM has been triggered by 54 GRBs and other transients, including soft gamma-ray repeaters, X-ray binaries, solar flares, terrestrial gamma-ray flashes. We report the properties of each type of triggers, such as trigger time and light curves. With this search pipeline and assuming a soft Band spectrum, the GRB detection sensitivity of GECAM is increased to about 1.1E-08 erg cm-2 s-1 (10 keV - 1000 keV, burst duration of 20 s). These results demonstrate that the GECAM ground search system (both blind search and targeted search) is a versatile pipeline to recover true astrophysical signals which were too weak to be found in the on-board search.

Non-extensive (3+1)-dimensional hydrodynamics for relativistic heavy-ion collisions

A non-extensive (3+1)-dimensional hydrodynamic model for multi-particle production processes, NEX-CLVisc, is developed in the framework of CLVisc where the viscous corrections are turned off. It assumes that the non-extensive effects consistently exist in the initial conditions set by the optical Glauber model, the equation of state and the hadron kinetic freeze-out procedure. The model is then applied to simulate the pseudo-rapidity ($η$) distribution, the transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) spectra and the $p_{\rm T}$-differential elliptic flow ($v_2$) of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}=$ 2.76 TeV and 5.02 TeV, respectively. It is found that the model can reasonably well reproduce the experimental data of the $η$ distribution and the charged-particle spectra in a $p_{\rm T}$ range up to 6-8 GeV/c. When compared with the ideal hydrodynamic model, the $p_{\rm T}$-differential $v_2$ of charged particles is suppressed in the NEX-CLVisc model, which is similar to that observed in the hydrodynamic model with a shear viscous correction. Moreover, due to the lack of the viscous corrections and the event-by-event fluctuation, the model can only describe the $p_{\rm T}$-differential $v_2$ up to 3-4 GeV/c, which is smaller than its applicable range for the particle $p_{\rm T}$ spectra.

X(2370) glueball-like particle productions in $e^+e^-$ collisions at the BESIII energy and in pp collisions at the LHC energy with PACIAE model

Inspired by the BESIII newest observation of X(2370) glueball-like particle, we search its productions in both $e^+e^-$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 4.95 GeV and proton-proton (pp) collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$ 13 TeV with a parton and hadron cascade model PACIAE. In this model, the final partonic state (FPS) and the final hadronic state (FHS) are consecutively simulated and recorded. The X(2370) glueball- or tetraquark-state is then, respectively, recombined by two gluons or four quarks $ss\bar{s}\bar{s}$ in the FPS using the quantum statistical mechanics inspired dynamically constrained phase-space coalescence (DCPC) model. The X(2370) molecular-state is recombined by the baryon-antibaryon of $Λ$-$\barΛ$ or $Σ$-$\barΣ$, or by three mesons of $π^+π^{-}η'$, $K^+K^-η'$, or $K_S^0K_S^0η'$ in the FHS using DCPC model. In both $e^+e^-$ and pp collisions, significant discrepancies in the yields, the transverse momentum spectra and the rapidity distributions among the X(2370) glueball-, tetraquark-, and molecular-state are observed. These discrepancies are proposed as valuable criteria identifying the X(2370) different states from each other. Our results not only support the BESIII observation of glueball-like particle $\rm X(2370)$ production in $e^+e^-$ collisions, but also serve as a prediction for the $\rm X(2370)$ production in pp collisions. We strongly suggest the experimental measurement of the X(2370) glueball-like particle production in pp collisions at the LHC energies.

Observation of GRB 221009A early afterglow in X/$γ$-ray energy band

The early afterglow of a Gamma-ray burst (GRB) can provide critical information on the jet and progenitor of the GRB. The extreme brightness of GRB 221009A allows us to probe its early afterglow in unprecedented detail. In this letter, we report comprehensive observation results of the early afterglow of GRB 221009A (from $T_0$+660 s to $T_0$+1860 s, where $T_0$ is the \textit{Insight}-HXMT/HE trigger time) in X/$γ$-ray energy band (from 20 keV to 20 MeV) by \textit{Insight}-HXMT/HE, GECAM-C and \textit{Fermi}/GBM. We find that the spectrum of the early afterglow in 20 keV-20 MeV could be well described by a cutoff power-law with an extra power-law which dominates the low and high energy bands respectively. The cutoff power-law $E_{\rm peak}$ is $\sim$ 30 keV and the power-law photon index is $\sim$ 1.8 throughout the early afterglow phase. By fitting the light curves in different energy bands, we find that a significant achromatic break (from keV to TeV) is required at $T_0$ + 1246$^{+27}_{-26}$ s (i.e. 1021 s since the afterglow starting time $T_{\rm AG}$=$T_0$+225 s), providing compelling evidence of a jet break. Interestingly, both the pre-break and post-break decay slopes vary with energy, and these two slopes become closer in the lower energy band, making the break less identifiable. Intriguingly, the spectrum of the early afterglow experienced a slight hardening before the break and a softening after the break. These results provide new insights into the understanding of this remarkable GRB.
