A way to measure the water quality of the LHAASO-WCDA with cosmic muon signals

The Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) is to be built at Daocheng, Sichuan Province, China. As one of the major components of the LHAASO project, a Water Cherenkov Detector Array (WCDA), with an area of 78,000~$\rm m^{2}$, contains 350,000~tons of purified water. The water transparency and its stability are critical for successful long-term operation of this project. To gain full knowledge of the water Cherenkov technique and investigate the engineering issues, a 9-cell detector array has been built at the Yangbajing site, Tibet, China. With the help of the distribution of single cosmic muon signals, the monitoring and measurement of water transparency are studied. The results show that a precision of several percent can be obtained for the attenuation length measurement, which satisfies the requirements of the experiment. In the near future, this method could be applied to the LHAASO-WCDA project.

Two Higgs Bi-doublet Model With Spontaneous P and CP Violation and Decoupling Limit to Two Higgs Doublet Model

The two Higgs bi-doublet left-right symmetric model (2HBDM) as a simple extension of the minimal left-right symmetric model with a single Higgs bi-doublet is motivated to realize both spontaneous P and CP violation while consistent with the low energy phenomenology without significant fine tuning. By carefully investigating the Higgs potential of the model, we find that sizable CP-violating phases are allowed after the spontaneous symmetry breaking. The mass spectra of the extra scalars in the 2HBDM are significantly different from the ones in the minimal left-right symmetric model. In particular, we demonstrate in the decoupling limit when the right-handed gauge symmetry breaking scale is much higher than the electroweak scale, the 2HBDM decouples into general two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) with spontaneous CP violation and has rich induced sources of CP violation. We show that in the decoupling limit, it contains extra light Higgs bosons with masses around electroweak scale, which can be directly searched at the ongoing LHC and future ILC experiments.

Searching for $Z^{'}$ Gauge Boson in an Anomaly-Free U(1)$'$ Gauge Family Model

We study a simple ultraviolet(UV) complete and anomaly free $Z'$ model based on a U$(1)'$ gauge family symmetry without introducing extra fermions beyond the standard model. The U$(1)'$ group is diagonal in the three family space in which the U(1)$'$ charges of the first and second families are the same but different from those of the third family. After spontaneous symmetry breaking and rotating to the mass eigenstates of quarks and leptons, there exist in general both flavor-conserving and flavor-changing couplings. In flavor conserving case, we use the latest dijet and dilepton search at the LHC to constrain the mass and gauge couplings of $Z'$. Also we show that in the flavor-changing and left-right asymmetry case, the t-channel $Z'$ process can only contribute to part of the forward-backward asymmetry in the top quark pair production observed at the Tevatron by taking into account the constraint from same sign top production at the LHC.

The scalars from the topcolor scenario and the spin correlations of the top pair production at the LHC

The topcolor scenario predicts the existences of some new scalars. In this paper, we consider the contributions of these new particles to the observables, which are related to the top quark pair ($t\bar{t}$) production at the LHC. It is found that these new particles can generate significant corrections to the $t\bar{t}$ production cross section and the $t\bar{t}$ spin correlations.

Photon-induced production of the mirror quarks from the $LHT$ model at the $LHC$

The photon-induced processes at the $LHC$ provide clean experimental conditions due to absence of the proton remnants, which might produce complementary and interesting results for tests of the standard model and for searching of new physics. In the context of the littlest $Higgs$ model with T-parity, we consider the photon-induced production of the mirror quarks at the $LHC$. The cross sections for various production channels are calculated and a simply phenomenology analysis is performed by assuming leptonic decays.

Leptonic $Z$ decays in the littlest $Higgs$ model with T-parity

The littlest $Higgs$ model with T-parity (called the $LHT$ model) predicts the existence of the T-odd leptons, which can generate contributions to some leptonic processes at the one-loop level. We calculate their contributions to the leptonic $Z$ decay processes $Z\to l\bar{l'}$, $Z\to l\bar{l}$, and $Z\rightarro ν\barν$. We find that the T-odd leptons can give significant contributions to the branching ratios of these decay processes in most of the parameter space. The experimental measurement values might generate constraints on the free parameters of the $LHT$ model.

Production of mirror fermions via $eγ$ and $ep$ collisions in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity

One of the important features of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity, called the $LHT$ model, is that it introduces the mirror fermions, which are the T-parity partners of the standard model fermions. In this paper, we discuss production of the mirror quark associated with mirror neutrino via $eγ$ and $ep$ collisions. We find that, in wide range of the parameter space, the mirror quark can be copiously produced at the International $e^{+}e^{-}$ Linear Collider $(ILC)$ and $ep$ collider $(THERA)$ experiments. The production rates of certain signal events, which are related the main two-body decay modes of the mirror quark, are also calculated.

The littlest Higgs model with T-parity and single top production at $ep$ collision

Based on calculating the contributions of the littlest Higgs model with T-parity (called $LHT$ model) to the anomalous top coupling $tqγ$ ($q=u$ or $c$), we consider single top production via the t-channel partonic process $eq\to et$ at $ep$ collision. Our numerical results show that the production cross section in the $LHT$ model can be significantly enhanced relative to that in the standard model.
