Optimal decay of full compressible Navier-Stokes equations with potential force

In this paper, we aim to investigate the optimal decay rate for the higher order spatial derivative of global solution to the full compressible Navier-Stokes (CNS) equations with potential force in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We establish the optimal decay rate of the solution itself and its spatial derivatives (including the highest order spatial derivative) for global small solution of the full CNS equations with potential force. With the presence of potential force in the considered full CNS equations, the difficulty in the analysis comes from the appearance of non-trivial ststionary solutions. These decay rates are really optimal in the sense that it coincides with the rate of the solution of the linerized system. In addition, the proof is accomplished by virtue of time weighted energy estimate, spectral analysis, and high-low frequency decomposition.

Higher regularity and asymptotic behavior of 2D magnetic Prandtl model in the Prandtl-Hartmann regime

In this paper, we investigate the higher regularity and asymptotic behavior for the 2-D magnetic Prandtl model in the Prandtl-Hartmann regime. Due to the degeneracy of horizontal velocity near boundary, the higher regularity of solution is a tricky problem. By constructing suitable approximated system and establishing closed energy estimate for a good quantity(called "quotient" in \cite{Guo-Iyer-2021}), our first result is to solve this higher regularity problem. Furthermore, we show the global well-posedness and global-in-$x$ asymptotic behavior when the initial data are small perturbation of the classical Hartmann layer in Sobolev space. By using the energy method to establish closed estimate for the quotient, we overcome the difficulty arising from the degeneracy of horizontal velocity near boundary. Due to the damping effect, we also point out that this global solution will converge to the equilibrium state(called Hartmann layer) with exponent decay rate.

Optimal decay of compressible Navier-Stokes equations with or without potential force

In this paper, we investigate the optimal decay rate for the higher order spatial derivative of global solution to the compressible Navier-Stokes (CNS) equations with or without potential force in three-dimensional whole space. First of all, it has been shown in \cite{guo2012} that the $N$-th order spatial derivative of global small solution of the CNS equations without potential force tends to zero with the $L^2-$rate $(1+t)^{-(s+N-1)}$ when the initial perturbation around the constant equilibrium state belongs to $H^N(\mathbb{R}^3)\cap \dot H^{-s}(\mathbb{R}^3)(N \ge 3 \text{~and~} s\in [0, \frac32))$. Thus, our first result improves this decay rate to $(1+t)^{-(s+N)}$. Secondly, we establish the optimal decay rate for the global small solution of the CNS equations with potential force as time tends to infinity. These decay rates for the solution itself and its spatial derivatives are really optimal since the upper bounds of decay rates coincide with the lower ones.

The Optimal Decay Rate of Strong Solution for the Compressible Nematic Liquid Crystal Equations with Large Initial Data

This paper is devoted to establishing the optimal decay rate of the global large solution to compressible nematic liquid crystal equations when the initial perturbation is large and belongs to $L^1(\mathbb R^3)\cap H^2(\mathbb R^3)$. More precisely, we show that the first and second order spatial derivatives of large solution $(ρ-1, u, \nabla d)(t)$ converges to zero at the $L^2-$rate $(1+t)^{-\frac54}$ and $L^2-$rate $(1+t)^{-\frac74}$ respectively, which are optimal in the sense that they coincide with the decay rates of solution to the heat equation. Thus, we establish optimal decay rate for the second order derivative of global large solution studied in [12,18] since the compressible nematic liquid crystal flow becomes the compressible Navier-Stokes equations when the director is a constant vector. It is worth noticing that there is no decay loss for the highest-order spatial derivative of solution although the associated initial perturbation is large. Moreover, we also establish the lower bound of decay rates of $(ρ-1, u, \nabla d)(t)$ itself and its spatial derivative, which coincide with the upper one. Therefore, the decay rates of global large solution $\nabla^2(ρ-1,u,\nabla d)(t)$ $(k=0,1,2)$ are actually optimal.

Decay of Strong Solution for the Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations with Large Initial Data

In this paper, we investigate the convergence of the global large solution to its associated constant equilibrium state with an explicit decay rate for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in three-dimensional whole space. Suppose the initial data belongs to some negative Sobolev space instead of Lebesgue space, we not only prove the negative Sobolev norms of the solution being preserved along time evolution, but also obtain the convergence of the global large solution to its associated constant equilibrium state with algebra decay rate. Besides, we shall show that the decay rate of the first order spatial derivative of large solution of the full compressible Navier-Stokes equations converging to zero in $L^2-$norm is $(1+t)^{-5/4}$, which coincides with the heat equation. This extends the previous decay rate $(1+t)^{-3/4}$ obtained in \cite{he-huang-wang2}.

The Optimal Decay Rate of Strong Solution for the Compressible Navier-Stokes Equations with Large Initial Data

In recent paper 5, it is shown that the upper decay rate of global solution of compressible Navier-Stokes(CNS) equations converging to constant equilibrium state $(1, 0)$ in $H^1-$norm is $(1+t)^{\frac34(\frac{2}{p}-1)}$ when the initial data is large and belongs to $H^2(\mathbb{R}^3) \cap L^p(\mathbb{R}^3) (p\in[1,2))$. Thus, the first result in this paper is devoted to showing that the upper decay rate of the first order spatial derivative converging to zero in $H^1-$norm is $(1+t)^{-\frac32(\frac1p-\frac12)-\frac12}$. For the case of $p=1$, the lower bound of decay rate for the global solution of CNS equations converging to constant equilibrium state $(1, 0)$ in $L^2-$norm is $(1+t)^{-\frac{3}{4}}$ if the initial data satisfies some low frequency assumption additionally. In other words, the optimal decay rate for the global solution of CNS equations converging to constant equilibrium state in $L^2-$norm is $(1+t)^{-\frac{3}{4}}$ although the associated initial data is large.

Lower Bound and Space-time Decay Rates of Higher Order Derivatives of Solution for the Compressible Navier-Stokes and Hall-MHD Equations

In this paper, we address the lower bound and space-time decay rates for the compressible Navier-Stokes and Hall-MHD equations under $H^3-$framework in $\mathbb{R}^3$. First of all, the lower bound of decay rate for the density, velocity and magnetic field converging to the equilibrium status in $L^2$ is $(1+t)^{-\frac{3}{4}}$; the lower bound of decay rate for the first order spatial derivative of density and velocity converging to zero in $L^2$ is $(1+t)^{-\frac{5}{4}}$, and the $k(\in [1, 3])-$th order spatial derivative of magnetic field converging to zero in $L^2$ is $(1+t)^{-\frac{3+2k}{4}}$. Secondly, the lower bound of decay rate for time derivatives of density and velocity converging to zero in $L^2$ is $(1+t)^{-\frac{5}{4}}$; however, the lower bound of decay rate for time derivatives of magnetic field converging to zero in $L^2$ is $(1+t)^{-\frac{7}{4}}$. Finally, we address the decay rate of solution in weighted Sobolev space $H^3_γ$. More precisely, the upper bound of decay rate of the $k(\in [0, 2])$-th order spatial derivatives of density and velocity converging to the $k(\in [0, 2])$-th order derivatives of constant equilibrium in weighted space $L^2_γ$ is $t^{-\frac{3}{4}+γ-\frac{k}{2}}$; however, the upper bounds of decay rate of the $k(\in [0, 3])$-th order spatial derivatives of magnetic field converging to zero in weighted space $L^2_γ$ is $t^{-\frac{3}{4}+\frac{γ}{2}-\frac{k}{2}}$.

Boundary Layer Problems for the Two-dimensional Inhomogeneous Incompressible Magnetohydrodynamics Equations

In this paper, we study the well-posedness of boundary layer problems for the inhomogeneous incompressible magnetohydrodynamics(MHD) equations, which are derived from the two dimensional density-dependent incompressible MHD equations.Under the assumption that initial tangential magnetic field is not zero and density is a small perturbation of the outer constant flow in supernorm, the local-in-time existence and uniqueness of inhomogeneous incompressible MHD boundary layer equation are established in weighted Conormal Sobolev spaces by energy method. As a byproduct, the local-in-time well-posedness of homogeneous incompressible MHD boundary layer equations with any large initial data can be obtained.

A Note on the Well-posedness of Prandtl Equations in Dimension Two

In this paper, we investigate the local-in-time well-posedness for the two-dimensional Prandtl equations in weighted Sobolev spaces under the Oleinik's monotonicity condition.Due to the loss of tangential derivative caused by vertical velocity appearing in convective term, we add with artificial horizontal viscosity term to construct an approximate system that can obtain local-in-time well-posedness results easily. For this approximate system, we construct a new weighted norm for the vorticity to derive a positive life time(independent of artificial viscosity coefficient) and obtain uniform bound for vorticity in this weighted norm. Then, based on compactness argument, we prove the solution of approximate system converging to the solution of original Prandtl equations, and hence, obtain the local-in-time well-posedness result for the Prandtl equations with any large initial data, which improves the recent work [10].

Local-in-time Well-posedness of Boundary Layer System for the Full Incompressible MHD Equations by Energy Methods

In this paper, we investigate the well-posedness theory for the MHD boundary layer system in two-dimensional space. The boundary layer equations are governed by the Prandtl type equations that are derived from the full incompressible MHD system with non-slip boundary condition on the velocity, perfectly conducting condition on the magnetic field, and Dirichlet boundary condition on the temperature when the viscosity coefficient depends on the temperature. To derive the Prandtl type boundary layer system, we require all the hydrodynamic Reynolds numbers, magnetic Reynolds numbers and Nusselt numbers tend to infinity at the same rate. Under the assumption that the initial tangential magnetic field is not zero, one applies the energy methods to establish the local-in-time existence and uniqueness of solution for the MHD boundary layer equations without the necessity of monotonicity condition.

Uniform Regularity and Vanishing Viscosity Limit for the Compressible Nematic Liquid Crystal Flows in Three Dimensional Bounded Domain

In this paper, we study the uniform regularity and vanishing viscosity limit for the compressible nematic liquid crystal flows in three dimensional bounded domain. It is shown that there exists a unique strong solution for the compressible nematic liquid crystal flows with boundary condition in a finite time interval which is independent of the viscosity coefficient. The solutions are uniform bounded in a conormal Sobolev space. Furthermore, we prove that the density and velocity are uniform bounded in $W^{1, \infty}$, and the director field is uniform bounded in $W^{3,\infty}$ respectively. Based on these uniform estimates, one also obtains the convergence rate of the viscous solutions to the inviscid ones with a rate of convergence.

Optimal Decay Rates of Classical Solutions for the Full Compressible MHD Equations

In this paper, we are concerned with optimal decay rates for higher order spatial derivatives of classical solutions to the full compressible MHD equations in three dimensional whole space. If the initial perturbation are small in $H^3$-norm and bounded in $L^q(q\in \left[1, \frac{6}{5}\right))$-norm, we apply the Fourier splitting method by Schonbek[Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 88 (1985)] to establish optimal decay rates for the second order spatial derivatives of solutions and the third order spatial derivatives of magnetic field in $L^2$-norm. These results improve the work of Pu and Guo [Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 64 (2013) 519-538].

Global Existence and Optimal Decay Rates of Solutions for Compressible Hall-MHD Equations

In this paper, we are concerned with global existence and optimal decay rates of solutions for the three-dimensional compressible Hall-MHD equations. First, we prove the global existence of strong solutions by the standard energy method under the condition that the initial data are close to the constant equilibrium state in $H^2$-framework. Second, optimal decay rates of strong solutions in $L^2$-norm are obtained if the initial data belong to $L^1$ additionally. Finally, we apply Fourier splitting method by Schonbek [Arch.Rational Mech. Strong Solution to the Density-dependent Incompressible Nematic Liquid Crystal Flows

In this paper, we investigate the density-dependent incompressible nematic liquid crystal flows in $n(n=2$ or $3)$ dimensional bounded domain. More precisely, we obtain the local existence and uniqueness of the solutions when the viscosity coefficient of fluid depends on density. Moreover, we establish blowup criterions for the regularity of the strong solutions in dimension two and three respectively. In particular, we build a blowup criterion just in terms of the gradient of density if the initial direction field satisfies some geometric configuration. For these results, the initial density needs not be strictly positive.

Furthermore, the time decay rates of velocity and director are built when the initial data belongs to $L^1(\mathbb{R}^3)$ additionally. Finally, one also constructs the time convergence rates for the mixed space-time derivatives of velocity and director.
