Correlation analysis technique of key parameters for transformer material inspection based on FP-tree and knowledge graph

As one of the key equipment in the distribution system, the distribution transformer directly affects the reliability of the user power supply. The probability of accidents occurring in the operation of transformer equipment is high, so it has become a focus of material inspection in recent years. However, the large amount of raw data from sample testing is not being used effectively. Given the above problems, this paper aims to mine the relationship between the unqualified distribution transformer inspection items by using the association rule algorithm based on the distribution transformer inspection data collected from 2017 to 2021 and sorting out the key inspection items. At the same time, the unqualified judgment basis of the relevant items is given, and the internal relationship between the inspection items is clarified to a certain extent. Furthermore, based on material and equipment inspection reports, correlations between failed inspection items, and expert knowledge, the knowledge graph of material equipment inspection management is constructed in the graph database Neo4j. The experimental results show that the FP-Growth method performs significantly better than the Apriori method and can accurately assess the relationship between failed distribution transformer inspection items. Finally, the knowledge graph network is visualized to provide a systematic knowledge base for material inspection, which is convenient for knowledge query and management. This method can provide a scientific guidance program for operation and maintenance personnel to do equipment maintenance and also offers a reference for the state evaluation of other high-voltage equipment.

Sampling Model for Grid Material Inspection Based on Analytic Hierarchy Process with Absolute Measurement

The quality of power grid equipment forms the material foundation for the safety of the large power grid. Ensuring the quality of equipment entering the grid is a core task in material management. Currently, the inspection of incoming materials involves the generation of sampling plans, sampling, sealing, sample delivery, and testing. Due to the lack of a comprehensive control system and effective control measures, it is not possible to trace the execution process of business operations afterward. This inability to trace hampers the investigation of testing issues and risk control, as it lacks effective data support. Additionally, a significant amount of original record information for key parameters in the testing process, which is based on sampling operation standards, has not been effectively utilized. To address these issues, we conduct researches on key monitoring technologies in the typical material inspection process based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and analyze the key parameters in inspection results. For purpose of complete the above tasks, this paper investigates the use of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) algorithms for quality prediction in material equipment based on key inspection parameters. In summary, this paper aims to provide professional and reliable quality data support for various business processes within the company, including material procurement, engineering construction, and equipment operation.

Infusing Hierarchical Guidance into Prompt Tuning: A Parameter-Efficient Framework for Multi-level Implicit Discourse Relation Recognition

Multi-level implicit discourse relation recognition (MIDRR) aims at identifying hierarchical discourse relations among arguments. Previous methods achieve the promotion through fine-tuning PLMs. However, due to the data scarcity and the task gap, the pre-trained feature space cannot be accurately tuned to the task-specific space, which even aggravates the collapse of the vanilla space. Besides, the comprehension of hierarchical semantics for MIDRR makes the conversion much harder. In this paper, we propose a prompt-based Parameter-Efficient Multi-level IDRR (PEMI) framework to solve the above problems. First, we leverage parameter-efficient prompt tuning to drive the inputted arguments to match the pre-trained space and realize the approximation with few parameters. Furthermore, we propose a hierarchical label refining (HLR) method for the prompt verbalizer to deeply integrate hierarchical guidance into the prompt tuning. Finally, our model achieves comparable results on PDTB 2.0 and 3.0 using about 0.1% trainable parameters compared with baselines and the visualization demonstrates the effectiveness of our HLR method.

Slow-Wave Hybrid Magnonics

Cavity magnonics is an emerging research area focusing on the coupling between magnons and photons. Despite its great potential for coherent information processing, it has been long restricted by the narrow interaction bandwidth. In this work, we theoretically propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel approach to achieve broadband photon-magnon coupling by adopting slow waves on engineered microwave waveguides. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that slow wave is combined with hybrid magnonics. Its unique properties promise great potentials for both fundamental research and practical applications, for instance, by deepening our understanding of the light-matter interaction in the slow wave regime and providing high-efficiency spin wave transducers. The device concept can be extended to other systems such as optomagnonics and magnomechanics, opening up new directions for hybrid magnonics.

Dumbo-NG: Fast Asynchronous BFT Consensus with Throughput-Oblivious Latency

Despite recent progresses of practical asynchronous Byzantine fault tolerant (BFT) consensus, the state-of-the-art designs still suffer from suboptimal performance. Particularly, to obtain maximum throughput, most existing protocols with guaranteed linear amortized communication complexity require each participating node to broadcast a huge batch of transactions, which dramatically sacrifices latency. Worse still, the f slowest nodes' broadcasts might never be agreed to output and thus can be censored (where f is the number of faults). Implementable mitigation to the threat either uses computationally costly threshold encryption or incurs communication blow-up, thus causing further efficiency issues. We present Dumbo-NG, a novel asynchronous BFT consensus (atomic broadcast) to solve the remaining practical issues. Its technical core is a non-trivial direct reduction from asynchronous atomic broadcast to multi-valued validated Byzantine agreement (MVBA) with quality property. Most interestingly, the new protocol structure empowers completely concurrent execution of transaction dissemination and asynchronous agreement. This brings about two benefits: (i) the throughput-latency tension is resolved to approach peak throughput with minimal increase in latency; (ii) the transactions broadcasted by any honest node can be agreed to output, thus conquering the censorship threat with no extra cost. We implement Dumbo-NG and compare it to the state-of-the-art asynchronous BFT with guaranteed censorship resilience including Dumbo (CCS'20) and Speeding-Dumbo (NDSS'22). We also apply the techniques from Speeding-Dumbo to DispersedLedger (NSDI'22) and obtain an improved variant of DispersedLedger called sDumbo-DL for comprehensive comparison. Extensive experiments reveal: Dumbo-NG realizes better peak throughput performance and its latency can almost remain stable when throughput grows.

ParaTransCNN: Parallelized TransCNN Encoder for Medical Image Segmentation

The convolutional neural network-based methods have become more and more popular for medical image segmentation due to their outstanding performance. However, they struggle with capturing long-range dependencies, which are essential for accurately modeling global contextual correlations. Thanks to the ability to model long-range dependencies by expanding the receptive field, the transformer-based methods have gained prominence. Inspired by this, we propose an advanced 2D feature extraction method by combining the convolutional neural network and Transformer architectures. More specifically, we introduce a parallelized encoder structure, where one branch uses ResNet to extract local information from images, while the other branch uses Transformer to extract global information. Furthermore, we integrate pyramid structures into the Transformer to extract global information at varying resolutions, especially in intensive prediction tasks. To efficiently utilize the different information in the parallelized encoder at the decoder stage, we use a channel attention module to merge the features of the encoder and propagate them through skip connections and bottlenecks. Intensive numerical experiments are performed on both aortic vessel tree, cardiac, and multi-organ datasets. By comparing with state-of-the-art medical image segmentation methods, our method is shown with better segmentation accuracy, especially on small organs. Enhancing Generalizable 6D Pose Tracking of an In-Hand Object with Tactile Sensing

When manipulating an object to accomplish complex tasks, humans rely on both vision and touch to keep track of the object's 6D pose. However, most existing object pose tracking systems in robotics rely exclusively on visual signals, which hinder a robot's ability to manipulate objects effectively. To address this limitation, we introduce TEG-Track, a tactile-enhanced 6D pose tracking system that can track previously unseen objects held in hand. From consecutive tactile signals, TEG-Track optimizes object velocities from marker flows when slippage does not occur, or regresses velocities using a slippage estimation network when slippage is detected. The estimated object velocities are integrated into a geometric-kinematic optimization scheme to enhance existing visual pose trackers. To evaluate our method and to facilitate future research, we construct a real-world dataset for visual-tactile in-hand object pose tracking. Experimental results demonstrate that TEG-Track consistently enhances state-of-the-art generalizable 6D pose trackers in synthetic and real-world scenarios. Our code and dataset are available at https://github.com/leolyliu/TEG-Track.

Towards Data-Algorithm Dependent Generalization: a Case Study on Overparameterized Linear Regression

One of the major open problems in machine learning is to characterize generalization in the overparameterized regime, where most traditional generalization bounds become inconsistent even for overparameterized linear regression. In many scenarios, this failure can be attributed to obscuring the crucial interplay between the training algorithm and the underlying data distribution. This paper demonstrate that the generalization behavior of overparameterized model should be analyzed in a both data-relevant and algorithm-relevant manner. To make a formal characterization, We introduce a notion called data-algorithm compatibility, which considers the generalization behavior of the entire data-dependent training trajectory, instead of traditional last-iterate analysis. We validate our claim by studying the setting of solving overparameterized linear regression with gradient descent. Specifically, we perform a data-dependent trajectory analysis and derive a sufficient condition for compatibility in such a setting. Our theoretical results demonstrate that if we take early stopping iterates into consideration, generalization can hold with significantly weaker restrictions on the problem instance than the previous last-iterate analysis.

A Quantum States Preparation Method Based on Difference-Driven Reinforcement Learning

Due to the large state space of the two-qubit system, and the adoption of ladder reward function in the existing quantum state preparation methods, the convergence speed is slow and it is difficult to prepare the desired target quantum state with high fidelity under limited conditions. To solve the above problems, a difference-driven reinforcement learning (RL) algorithm for quantum state preparation of two-qubit system is proposed by improving the reward function and action selection strategy. Firstly, a model is constructed for the problem of preparing quantum states of a two-qubit system, with restrictions on the type of quantum gates and the time for quantum state evolution. In the preparation process, a weighted differential dynamic reward function is designed to assist the algorithm quickly obtain the maximum expected cumulative reward. Then, an adaptive e-greedy action selection strategy is adopted to achieve a balance between exploration and utilization to a certain extent, thereby improving the fidelity of the final quantum state. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can prepare quantum state with high fidelity under limited conditions. Compared with other algorithms, it has different degrees of improvement in convergence speed and fidelity of the final quantum state.

Chain-of-Verification Reduces Hallucination in Large Language Models

Generation of plausible yet incorrect factual information, termed hallucination, is an unsolved issue in large language models. We study the ability of language models to deliberate on the responses they give in order to correct their mistakes. We develop the Chain-of-Verification (CoVe) method whereby the model first (i) drafts an initial response; then (ii) plans verification questions to fact-check its draft; (iii) answers those questions independently so the answers are not biased by other responses; and (iv) generates its final verified response. In experiments, we show CoVe decreases hallucinations across a variety of tasks, from list-based questions from Wikidata, closed book MultiSpanQA and longform text generation.

Field Orientation Dependent Magnetic Phases In Weyl Semimetal Co3Sn2S2

Magnetism plays a key role in the emergence of topological phenomena in the Weyl semimetal Co3Sn2S2, which exhibits a ferromagnetic (FM) interactions along the c-axis of the crystal and an antiferromagnetic (AFM) interactions within the ab plane. Extensive studies on the temperature dependence of the magnetism with the magnetic field along the c-axis have uncovered a number of magnetic phases. Currently, the nature and origins of the reported magnetic phases are under debate. Here we report on magnetic field orientation effects on the magnetism in Co3Sn2S2. The shape of the hysteresis loop of the Hall resistance at a fixed temperature is found to change from rectangular to bow-tie-like as the magnetic field is tilted from the c-axis towards the ab plane, resembling that reported for magnetic fields along the c-axis as the temperature approaches the Curie temperature from below. Unlike their temperature-dependent counterparts, the newly observed bow-tie-like hysteresis loops show exchange bias. Our results showcase the contribution of the in-plane AFM interactions to the magnetism in Co3Sn2S2 and demonstrate a new way to tune its magnetic phases. They also shed light on the temperature-dependent magnetic phases occurring in the magnetic field along the c-axis of the crystal.

TransTouch: Learning Transparent Objects Depth Sensing Through Sparse Touches

Transparent objects are common in daily life. However, depth sensing for transparent objects remains a challenging problem. While learning-based methods can leverage shape priors to improve the sensing quality, the labor-intensive data collection in the real world and the sim-to-real domain gap restrict these methods' scalability. In this paper, we propose a method to finetune a stereo network with sparse depth labels automatically collected using a probing system with tactile feedback. We present a novel utility function to evaluate the benefit of touches. By approximating and optimizing the utility function, we can optimize the probing locations given a fixed touching budget to better improve the network's performance on real objects. We further combine tactile depth supervision with a confidence-based regularization to prevent over-fitting during finetuning. To evaluate the effectiveness of our method, we construct a real-world dataset including both diffuse and transparent objects. Experimental results on this dataset show that our method can significantly improve real-world depth sensing accuracy, especially for transparent objects.

Redundancy-free integrated optical convolver for optical neural networks based on arrayed waveguide grating

Optical neural networks (ONNs) have gained significant attention due to their potential for high-speed and energy-efficient computation in artificial intelligence. The implementation of optical convolutions plays a vital role in ONNs, as they are fundamental operations within neural network architectures. However, state-of-the-art convolution architectures often suffer from redundant inputs, leading to substantial resource waste. Here, we propose an integrated optical convolution architecture that leverages the inherent routing principles of arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) to execute the sliding of convolution kernel and summation of results. M*N multiply-accumulate (MAC) operations are facilitated by M+N units within a single clock cycle, thus eliminating the redundancy. In the experiment, we achieved 5-bit precision and 91.9% accuracy in the handwritten digit recognition task confirming the reliability of our approach. Its redundancy-free architecture, low power consumption, high compute density (8.53 teraOP mm^-2 s^-1) and scalability make it a valuable contribution to the field of optical neural networks, thereby paving the way for future advancements in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence applications.

Boosting Salient Object Detection with Transformer-based Asymmetric Bilateral U-Net

Existing salient object detection (SOD) methods mainly rely on U-shaped convolution neural networks (CNNs) with skip connections to combine the global contexts and local spatial details that are crucial for locating salient objects and refining object details, respectively. Despite great successes, the ability of CNNs in learning global contexts is limited. Recently, the vision transformer has achieved revolutionary progress in computer vision owing to its powerful modeling of global dependencies. However, directly applying the transformer to SOD is suboptimal because the transformer lacks the ability to learn local spatial representations. To this end, this paper explores the combination of transformers and CNNs to learn both global and local representations for SOD. We propose a transformer-based Asymmetric Bilateral U-Net (ABiU-Net). The asymmetric bilateral encoder has a transformer path and a lightweight CNN path, where the two paths communicate at each encoder stage to learn complementary global contexts and local spatial details, respectively. The asymmetric bilateral decoder also consists of two paths to process features from the transformer and CNN encoder paths, with communication at each decoder stage for decoding coarse salient object locations and fine-grained object details, respectively. Such communication between the two encoder/decoder paths enables AbiU-Net to learn complementary global and local representations, taking advantage of the natural merits of transformers and CNNs, respectively. Hence, ABiU-Net provides a new perspective for transformer-based SOD. Extensive experiments demonstrate that ABiU-Net performs favorably against previous state-of-the-art SOD methods. The code is available at https://github.com/yuqiuyuqiu/ABiU-Net.

A Novel Multi-Task Model Imitating Dermatologists for Accurate Differential Diagnosis of Skin Diseases in Clinical Images

Skin diseases are among the most prevalent health issues, and accurate computer-aided diagnosis methods are of importance for both dermatologists and patients. However, most of the existing methods overlook the essential domain knowledge required for skin disease diagnosis. A novel multi-task model, namely DermImitFormer, is proposed to fill this gap by imitating dermatologists' diagnostic procedures and strategies. Through multi-task learning, the model simultaneously predicts body parts and lesion attributes in addition to the disease itself, enhancing diagnosis accuracy and improving diagnosis interpretability. The designed lesion selection module mimics dermatologists' zoom-in action, effectively highlighting the local lesion features from noisy backgrounds. Additionally, the presented cross-interaction module explicitly models the complicated diagnostic reasoning between body parts, lesion attributes, and diseases. To provide a more robust evaluation of the proposed method, a large-scale clinical image dataset of skin diseases with significantly more cases than existing datasets has been established. Extensive experiments on three different datasets consistently demonstrate the state-of-the-art recognition performance of the proposed approach.

A Flexible Micro-Randomized Trial Design and Sample Size Considerations

Technological advancements have made it possible to deliver mobile health interventions to individuals. A novel framework that has emerged from such advancements is the just-in-time adaptive intervention (JITAI), which aims to suggest the right support to the individuals when their needs arise. The micro-randomized trial (MRT) design has been proposed recently to test the proximal effects of these JITAIs. However, the extant MRT framework only considers components with a fixed number of categories added at the beginning of the study. We propose a flexible MRT (FlexiMRT) design which allows addition of more categories to the components during the study. The proposed design is motivated by collaboration on the DIAMANTE study, which learns to deliver text messages to encourage physical activity among the patients with diabetes and depression. We developed a new test statistic and the corresponding sample size calculator for the FlexiMRT using an approach similar to the generalized estimating equation for longitudinal data. Simulation studies were conducted to evaluate the sample size calculators and an R shiny application for the calculators was developed.
