A Synergistic CNN-Transformer Network with Pooling Attention Fusion for Hyperspectral Image Classification

In the hyperspectral image (HSI) classification task, each pixel is categorized into a specific land-cover category or material. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformers have been widely used to extract local and non-local features in HSI classification. Recent works have utilized a multi-scale vision transformer (ViT) to enhance spectral feature capture and yield promising results. However, most existing methods still face challenges in the effective joint use of spatial-spectral information and in preserving information across layers during the propagation process. To address these issues, we propose a synergistic CNN-Transformer network with pooling attention fusion for HSI classification, which collaboratively utilizes CNNs and ViT to process spatial and spectral features separately. Specifically, we propose a Twin-Branch Feature Extraction (TBFE) module, which employs 3D and 2D convolution in parallel to comprehensively extract spectral and spatial features from HSI. A hybrid pooling attention (HPA) module is designed to aggregate spatial attention. Moreover, a cascade transformer encoder is employed for global spectral feature extraction, and a simple yet efficient cross-layer feature fusion (CFF) module is designed to reduce the loss of crucial information in the previous network layers. Extensive experiments are conducted on several representative datasets to demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed method compared to the state-of-the-art works. XNote: Benchmarking Automated Community Notes Generation for Image-based Contextual Deception

Community Notes have emerged as an effective crowd-sourced mechanism for combating online deception on social media platforms. However, its reliance on human contributors limits both the timeliness and scalability. In this work, we study the automated Community Notes generation task for image-based contextual deception, where an authentic image is paired with misleading context (e.g., time, entity, and event). Unlike prior work that primarily focuses on deception detection (i.e., judging whether a post is true or false in a binary manner), automated Community Notes generation requires producing concise and grounded notes that help users recover the missing or corrected context. This problem remains underexplored due to the scarcity of datasets that support this task. To address this gap, we curate a real-world dataset, XNote, comprising X posts with associated Community Notes and external contexts, along with annotations of topics and deceptive factors. We further benchmark a range of frontier large vision language models (LVLMs) on XNote, evaluating their performance on both deception detection and note generation tasks. We also compare against an end-to-end approach, SNIFFER, and a commercial tool, GPT-5. Our results highlight the challenges in automated Community Notes generation, underscoring the need for improved methods and metrics tailored for this task.

ASD-Chat: An Innovative Dialogue Intervention System for Children with Autism based on LLM and VB-MAPP

Early diagnosis and professional intervention can help children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) return to normal life. However, the scarcity and imbalance of professional medical resources currently prevent many autistic children from receiving the necessary diagnosis and intervention. Therefore, numerous paradigms have been proposed that use computer technology to assist or independently conduct ASD interventions, with the aim of alleviating the aforementioned problem. However, these paradigms often lack a foundation in clinical intervention methods and suffer from a lack of personalization. Addressing these concerns, we propose ASD-Chat, a social intervention system based on VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program) and powered by ChatGPT as the backbone for dialogue generation. Specifically, we designed intervention paradigms and prompts based on the clinical intervention method VB-MAPP and utilized ChatGPT's generative capabilities to facilitate social dialogue interventions. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed system achieves competitive intervention effects to those of professional interventionists, making it a promising tool for long-term interventions in real healthcare scenario in the future.

Learning the irreversible progression trajectory of Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive and irreversible brain disorder that unfolds over the course of 30 years. Therefore, it is critical to capture the disease progression in an early stage such that intervention can be applied before the onset of symptoms. Machine learning (ML) models have been shown effective in predicting the onset of AD. Yet for subjects with follow-up visits, existing techniques for AD classification only aim for accurate group assignment, where the monotonically increasing risk across follow-up visits is usually ignored. Resulted fluctuating risk scores across visits violate the irreversibility of AD, hampering the trustworthiness of models and also providing little value to understanding the disease progression. To address this issue, we propose a novel regularization approach to predict AD longitudinally. Our technique aims to maintain the expected monotonicity of increasing disease risk during progression while preserving expressiveness. Specifically, we introduce a monotonicity constraint that encourages the model to predict disease risk in a consistent and ordered manner across follow-up visits. We evaluate our method using the longitudinal structural MRI and amyloid-PET imaging data from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). Our model outperforms existing techniques in capturing the progressiveness of disease risk, and at the same time preserves prediction accuracy.

Numerically investigating the morphology of the supernova remnant SN 1006 in the ambient medium with a density discontinuity

Multiband observations on the type Ia supernova remnant SN 1006 indicate peculiar properties in its morphologies of emission in the radio, optical and X-ray bands. In the hard X-rays, the remnant is bilateral with two opposite bright limbs with prominent protrusions. Moreover, a filament has been detected at the radio, optical and soft X-ray wavelengthes. The reason for these peculiar features in the morphologies of the remnant is investigated using 3D HD simulations. With the assumption that the supernova ejecta is evolved in the ambient medium with a density discontinuity, the radius of the remnant's boundary is smaller in the tenuous medium, and the shell consists of two hemispheres with different radiuses. Along particular line of sights, protrusions appear on the periphery of the remnants since the emission from the edge of the hemisphere with a larger radius is located outside that from the shell of the small hemisphere. Furthermore, the northwest filament of SN 1006 arises as a result of the intersection of the line of sight and the shocked material near the edges of the two hemispheres. It can be concluded that the features that the protrusions on the northeast and southwest limbs and the northwest filament in the morphologies of SN 1006 can be reproduced as the remnants interacting with the medium with a density discontinuity.

Hyperspectral Image Classification Based on Adaptive Sparse Deep Network

Sparse model is widely used in hyperspectral image classification. However, different of sparsity and regularization parameters has great influence on the classification results. In this paper, a novel adaptive sparse deep network based on deep architecture is proposed, which can construct the optimal sparse representation and regularization parameters by deep network.Firstly, a data flow graph is designed to represent each update iteration based on Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) algorithm.Forward network and Back-Propagation network are deduced. All parameters are updated by gradient descent in Back-Propagation.Then we proposed an Adaptive Sparse Deep Network.Comparing with several traditional classifiers or other algorithm for sparse model, experiment results indicate that our method achieves great improvement in HSI classification.

Seismic signal sparse time-frequency analysis by Lp-quasinorm constraint

Time-frequency analysis has been applied successfully in many fields. However, the traditional methods, like short time Fourier transform and Cohen distribution, suffer from the low resolution or the interference of the cross terms. To solve these issues, we put forward a new sparse time-frequency analysis model by using the Lp-quasinorm constraint, which is capable of fitting the sparsity prior knowledge in the frequency domain. In the proposed model, we regard the short time truncated data as the observation of sparse representation and design a dictionary matrix, which builds up the relationship between the short time measurement and the sparse spectrum. Based on the relationship and the Lp-quasinorm feasible domain, the proposed model is established. The alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is adopted to solve the proposed model. Experiments are then conducted on several theoretical signals and applied to the seismic signal spectrum decomposition, indicating that the proposed method is able to obtain a higher time-frequency distribution than state-of-the-art time-frequency methods. Thus, the proposed method is of great importance to reservoir exploration.
