High accuracy and error analysis of indoor visible light positioning algorithm based on image sensor

In recent years, with the increasing demand for indoor positioning service, visible light indoor positioning based on image sensors has been widely studied. However, many researches only put forward the relevant localization algorithm and did not make a deep discussion on the principle of the visible light localization. In this paper, we make a deep discussion on the principle of the two-light positioning algorithm and the three-light positioning algorithm based on the image sensor, which includes how these positioning algorithms work and the errors analysis. Based on the discussion above, we propose two methods to improve the positioning accuracy, which is rotation method and dispersion circle method respectively. In our experiment, we have numerically and experimentally verified the two optimization methods and we obtained good positioning results. Especially, the positioning accuracy of the dual-lamp positioning algorithm based on dispersion circle optimization is up to 1.93cm, while the average positioning error is only 0.82cm, which is state-of-the-art of the same type of positioning system at present.

What If Your Car Would Care? Exploring Use Cases For Affective Automotive User Interfaces

In this paper we present use cases for affective user interfaces (UIs) in cars and how they are perceived by potential users in China and Germany. Emotion-aware interaction is enabled by the improvement of ubiquitous sensing methods and provides potential benefits for both traffic safety and personal well-being. To promote the adoption of affective interaction at an international scale, we developed 20 mobile in-car use cases through an inter-cultural design approach and evaluated them with 65 drivers in Germany and China. Our data shows perceived benefits in specific areas of pragmatic quality as well as cultural differences, especially for socially interactive use cases. We also discuss general implications for future affective automotive UI. Our results provide a perspective on cultural peculiarities and a concrete starting point for practitioners and researchers working on emotion-aware interfaces.

Confiding in and Listening to Virtual Agents: The Effect of Personality

We present an intelligent virtual interviewer that engages with a user in a text-based conversation and automatically infers the user's psychological traits, such as personality. We investigate how the personality of a virtual interviewer influences a user's behavior from two perspectives: the user's willingness to confide in, and listen to, a virtual interviewer. We have developed two virtual interviewers with distinct personalities and deployed them in a real-world recruiting event. We present findings from completed interviews with 316 actual job applicants. Notably, users are more willing to confide in and listen to a virtual interviewer with a serious, assertive personality. Moreover, users' personality traits, inferred from their chat text, influence their perception of a virtual interviewer, and their willingness to confide in and listen to a virtual interviewer. Finally, we discuss the implications of our work on building hyper-personalized, intelligent agents based on user traits.

A Segmented, Enriched N-type Germanium Detector for Neutrinoless Double Beta-Decay Experiments

We present data characterizing the performance of the first segmented, N-type Ge detector, isotopically enriched to 85% $^{76}$Ge. This detector, based on the Ortec PT6x2 design and referred to as SEGA (Segmented, Enriched Germanium Assembly), was developed as a possible prototype for neutrinoless double beta-decay measurements by the {\sc Majorana} collaboration. We present some of the general characteristics (including bias potential, efficiency, leakage current, and integral cross-talk) for this detector in its temporary cryostat. We also present an analysis of the resolution of the detector, and demonstrate that for all but two segments there is at least one channel that reaches the {\sc Majorana} resolution goal below 4 keV FWHM at 2039 keV, and all channels are below 4.5 keV FWHM.

Ramping Control of HLS Storage Ring

HLS (Hefei Light Source) is a second generation synchrotron radiation source. After injected into the storage ring at energy of 200MeV, the electrons will be ramped to 800MeV. During ramping, the magnetic fields of the bend, quadruple and sextuple magnets are ramped up synchronously to keep the working point of the storage ring unchanged. This process is carefully controlled by HLS control system, which is built under EPICS. Several measures are taken to insure the synchronization and linearity of the ramping.

Injection Control System of HLS Storage Ring

The injection control system of Hefei Light Source (HLS) storage ring is a subsystem of the upgraded HLS control system, which is based upon EPICS. Three programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are used as device controllers, which control one septum modulator and four kicker modulators of HLS storage ring. An Industrial PC is used as Input/Output Controller (IOC) and it connects the PLCs with serial communication (RS232 mode) over fibre. A PC with Linux is used as operator interface (OPI), operator application are running on it. The control system was completed in July 2000. The commissioning shows that the control system is reliable and easy operational.
