Decision Variable Analysis-Guided Differentiated Fuzzy Search for Large-Scale Multi-Objective Optimization

Large-scale multi-objective optimization problems (LSMOPs) are challenging due to their high-dimensional decision spaces. Fuzzy search is an effective technique for improving search efficiency, while decision variable analysis can reveal the distinct roles of variables in promoting convergence and maintaining diversity. However, existing fuzzy search methods generally employ a uniform search granularity for all variables, overlooking the heterogeneous search requirements implied by variable roles. To address this limitation, this paper proposes a Decision variable analysis-guided Differentiated Fuzzy Search method, termed DDFS. The proposed method establishes an explicit mapping between decision-variable roles and fuzzy search granularities. Decision variable analysis is employed to identify variable roles and search sensitivities, enabling different variable groups to adopt differentiated fuzzy search behaviors during offspring generation. Furthermore, a Dual-Indicator Stage Transition Mechanism is developed to dynamically adjust fuzzy-updating intensity throughout the evolutionary process, balancing early-stage search-space compression and late-stage convergence refinement. Extensive experiments on the LSMOP and UF benchmark suites with up to 1000 decision variables show that DDFS generally achieves competitive performance against several representative large-scale multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. The results suggest that explicitly incorporating decision-variable roles into fuzzy search can help improve optimization performance in high-dimensional decision spaces.

Laboratorial radiative shocks with multiple parameters and first quantifying verifications to core-collapse supernovae

We present experiments to reproduce the characteristics of core-collapse supernovae with different stellar masses and initial explosion energies in the laboratory. In the experiments, shocks are driven in 1.2 atm and 1.9 atm xenon gas by laser with energy from 1600J to 2800J on the SGIII prototype laser facility. The average shock velocities and shocked densities are obtained from experiments. Experimental results reveal that higher laser energy and lower Xe gas density led to higher shock velocity, and lower Xe gas initial density has a higher compression. Modeling of the experiments using the 2D radiation hydrodynamic codes Icefire shows excellent agreement with the experimental results and gives the temperature. These results will contribute to time-domain astrophysical systems, such as gravitational supernovae, where a strong radiative shock propagates outward from the center of the star after the core collapses.

TS-ENAS:Two-Stage Evolution for Cell-based Network Architecture Search

Neural network architecture search provides a solution to the automatic design of network structures. However, it is difficult to search the whole network architecture directly. Although using stacked cells to search neural network architectures is an effective way to reduce the complexity of searching, these methods do not able find the global optimal neural network structure since the number of layers, cells and connection methods is fixed. In this paper, we propose a Two-Stage Evolution for cell-based Network Architecture Search(TS-ENAS), including one-stage searching based on stacked cells and second-stage adjusting these cells. In our algorithm, a new cell-based search space and an effective two-stage encoding method are designed to represent cells and neural network structures. In addition, a cell-based weight inheritance strategy is designed to initialize the weight of the network, which significantly reduces the running time of the algorithm. The proposed methods are extensively tested and compared on four image classification dataset, Fashion-MNIST, CIFAR10, CIFAR100 and ImageNet and compared with 22 state-of-the-art algorithms including hand-designed networks and NAS networks. The experimental results show that TS-ENAS can more effectively find the neural network architecture with comparative performance.

First Investigation on the Radiation Field of the Gas-Filled Three-Axis Cylindrical Hohlraum

A novel ignition hohlraum named three-axis cylindrical hohlraum (TACH) is designed for indirect-drive inertial confinement fusion. TACH is a kind of 6 laser entrance holes (LEHs) hohlraum, which is orthogonally jointed of three cylindrical hohlraums. The first experiment on the radiation field of TACH was performed on Shenguang III laser facility. 24 laser beams were elected and injected into 6 LEHs quasi-symmetrically. Total laser energy was about 59 kJ, and the peak radiation temperature reached about 192 eV. Radiation temperature and pinhole images in gas-filled hohlraum are largely identical but with minor differences with those in vacuum hohlraum. All laser energy can be totally delivered into hohlraum in 3 ns duration even without filled gas in the hohlraum of 1.4 mm diameter. Plasma filling cannot be obviously suppressed even with 0.5 atm pressure gas in the small hohlraum. Backscattering fractions of vacuum hohlraum and gas-filled hohlraum are both lower than 2%. Experimental study of this new kind of hohlraum can provide guidance for future target design and implosion experiment.
