Inference Time Optimization with Confidence Dynamics

Inference time optimization techniques, such as repeated sampling, have significantly advanced the reasoning capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs). However, the critical role of model uncertainty remains largely underexplored in these optimization strategies. In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of confidence along reasoning trajectories and for first time reveal a surprising and unique pattern: correct answer traces tend to exhibit confidence improvement over time (positive confidence gain), while incorrect traces show attenuated or declining confidence as reasoning proceeds. Based on this observation, we propose Confidence Dynamic Gain (CDG) based voting, which incorporates how the confidence trajectory of the response evolves along the reasoning chain. Experiments across four open-source architectures (DeepSeek-R1, gpt-oss, Gemma-3, Qwen-QwQ) on the AIME24/25, HMMT25, and BRUMO25 benchmarks demonstrate that CDG yields a significant performance boost over baselines. These results demonstrate that our method provides a robust discriminative signal for improving answer selection in LLM reasoning. We also provide theoretical insights for this phenomenon. Code will be released at https://github.com/Accenture/CDG.git.

Optimal time-decay estimates for an Oldroyd-B model with zero viscosity

In this work, we consider the Cauchy problem for a diffusive Oldroyd-B model in three dimensions. Some optimal time-decay rates of the solutions are derived via analysis of upper and lower time-decay estimates provided that the initial data are small and that the absolute value of Fourier transform of the initial velocity is bounded below away from zero in a low-frequency region. It is worth noticing that the optimal rates are independent of the fluid viscosity or the diffusive coefficient, which is a different phenomenon from that for incompressible Navier-Stokes equations.

Communication-Efficient Decentralized Optimization via Double-Communication Symmetric ADMM

This paper focuses on decentralized composite optimization over networks without a central coordinator. We propose a novel decentralized symmetric ADMM algorithm that incorporates multiple communication rounds within each iteration, derived from a new constraint formulation that enables information exchange beyond immediate neighbors. While increasing per-iteration communication, our approach significantly reduces the total number of iterations and overall com- munication cost. We further design optimal communication rules that minimize the number of rounds and variables transmitted per iteration. The proposed algorithm is shown to achieve linear convergence under standard and relatively weak assumptions (e.g., metric subregularity). Extensive experiments on regression and classification tasks validate the theoretical results and demonstrate superior performance compared to existing decentralized optimization methods.

Photon-tagged and B-meson-tagged b-jet production at the LHC

Tagged jet measurements in high energy hadronic and nuclear reactions provide constraints on the energy and parton flavor origin of the parton shower that recoils against the tagging particle. Such additional insight can be especially beneficial in illuminating the mechanisms of heavy flavor production in proton-proton collisions at the LHC and their modification in the heavy ion environment, which are not fully understood. With this motivation, we present theoretical results for isolated-photon-tagged and B-meson-tagged b-jet production at center-of-mass energy 5.1 TeV for comparison to the upcoming lead-lead data. We find that photon-tagged b-jets exhibit smaller momentum imbalance shift in nuclear matter, and correspondingly smaller energy loss, than photon-tagged light flavor jets. Our results show that B-meson tagging is most effective in ensuring that the dominant fraction of recoiling jets originate from prompt b-quarks. Interestingly, in this channel the large suppression of the cross section is not accompanied by a significant momentum imbalance shift.

Beyond Minimal Lepton Flavored Dark Matter

We consider a class of flavored dark matter (DM) theories where dark matter interacts with the Standard Model lepton fields at the renormalizable level. We allow for a general coupling matrix between the dark matter and leptons whose structure is beyond the one permitted by the minimal flavor violation (MFV) assumption. It is assumed that this is the only new source of flavor violation in addition to the Standard Model (SM) Yukawa interactions. The setup can be described by augmenting the SM flavor symmetry by an additional $\mathrm{SU}(3)_χ$, under which the dark matter $χ$ transforms. This framework is especially phenomenologically rich, due to possible novel flavor-changing interactions which are not present within the more restrictive MFV framework. As a representative case study of this setting, which we call "beyond MFV" (BMFV), we consider Dirac fermion dark matter which transforms as a singlet under the SM gauge group and a triplet under $\mathrm{SU}(3)_χ$. The DM fermion couples to the SM lepton sector through a scalar mediator $ϕ$. Unlike the case of quark-flavored DM, we show that there is no $\mathbb{Z}_3$ symmetry within either the MFV or BMFV settings which automatically stabilizes the lepton-flavored DM. We discuss constraints on this setup from flavor-changing processes, DM relic abundance as well as direct and indirect detections. We find that relatively large flavor-changing couplings are possible, while the dark matter mass is still within the phenomenologically interesting region below the TeV scale. Collider signatures which can be potentially searched for at the lepton and hadron colliders are discussed. Finally, we discuss the implications for decaying dark matter, which can appear if an additional stabilizing symmetry is not imposed.

Quenching of inclusive and tagged b-jets at the LHC

We present theoretical predictions for the nuclear-induced attenuation of the differential cross sections for inclusive and tagged b-jet production in heavy ion collisions at the LHC. We find that for inclusive b-jet production at high transverse momentum the mass effects are negligible, and that the attenuation is comparable to the one observed for light jets. On the other hand, for isolated-photon and B-meson-tagged b-jets the sample of events with heavy quarks produced at the early stages of the collision is greatly enhanced. Thus, these tagged b-jet final-states have a much more direct connection to the physics of b-quark energy loss. We present theoretical predictions for the quenching of such tagged b-jet events at the LHC and the QGP-induced modification of the related momentum imbalance and asymmetry. We demonstrate that these tagged processes can be used to accurately study the physics of heavy quark production and propagation in dense QCD matter.

Global well-posedness for the dynamical Q-tensor model of liquid crystals

In this paper, we consider a complex fluid modeling nematic liquid crystal flows, which is described by a system coupling Navier-Stokes equations with a parabolic Q-tensor system. We first prove the global existence of weak solutions in dimension three. Furthermore, the global well-posedness of strong solutions is studied with sufficiently large viscosity of fluid. Finally, we show a continuous dependence result on the initial data which directly yields the weak-strong uniqueness of solutions.

Supersymmetric Sub-Electroweak Scale Dark Matter, the Galactic Center Gamma-ray Excess, and Exotic Decays of the 125 GeV Higgs Boson

We continue our exploration of the nearly Peccei-Quinn symmetric limit shared by common singlet extensions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. This limit has been established as a viable framework for studying sub-electroweak scale dark matter phenomenology and has interesting and direct connections to new exotic Higgs decay physics. We present analytic calculations to motivate the important phenomenological features mentioned above. We also discuss benchmark points in this model framework that accommodate the observed Galactic Center gamma ray excess. We emphasize connections between phenomenology of dark matter direct detection and indirect detection, and new exotic decay channels for the 125 GeV Higgs boson. We conclude by identifying two benchmark modes of exotic Higgs decays for $h \to τ^+ τ^- \mbox{${\not\! E}_{\rm T}$}$ and $h \to b \bar{b} \mbox{${\not\! E}_{\rm T}$}$ final states and estimate their sensitivity prospects at the LHC.

Supersymmetric Exotic Decays of the 125 GeV Higgs Boson

We reveal a set of novel decay topologies for the 125 GeV Higgs boson in supersymmetry which are initiated by its decay into a pair of neutralinos, and discuss their collider search strategies. This category of exotic Higgs decays are characterized by the collider signature: visible objects + $\mbox{${\not\! E}_{\rm T}$}$, with $\mbox{${\not\! E}_{\rm T}$}$ dominantly arising from escaping dark matter particles. Their benchmark arises naturally in the Peccei-Quinn symmetry limit of the MSSM singlet-extensions, which is typified by the co-existence of three light particles: singlet-like scalar $h_1$ and pseudoscalar $a_1$, and singlino-like neutralino $χ_1$, all with masses of $\lesssim 10$ GeV, and the generically suppression of the exotic decays of the 125 GeV Higgs boson $h_2\to h_1 h_1$, $a_1a_1$ and $χ_1χ_1$, however. As an illustration, we study the decay topology: $h_2 \to χ_1 χ_2$, where the bino-like $χ_2$ decays to $h_1 χ_1$ or $a_1 χ_1$, and $h_1/a_1 \to f\bar f$, with $f\bar f = μ^+μ^-$, $b\bar b$. In the di-muon case ($m_{h_1/a_1} \sim 1$ GeV), a statistical sensitivity of $\frac{S}{\sqrt{B}} > 6 σ$ can be achieved easily at the 8 TeV LHC, assuming $\frac{σ(pp \rightarrow W h_2)}{σ(pp \rightarrow W h_{\rm SM})} {\rm Br}(h_2 \to μ^+μ^- χ_1 χ_1)=0.1$. In the $b\bar b$ case ($m_{h_1/a_1} \sim 45$ GeV), 600 fb$^{-1}$ data at the 14 TeV LHC can lead to a statistical sensitivity of $\frac{S}{\sqrt{B}} > 5 σ$, assuming $\frac{σ(pp \rightarrow Z h_2)}{σ(pp \rightarrow Z h_{\rm SM})} {\rm Br}(h_2 \to b\bar b χ_1 χ_1)=0.5$. These exotic decays open a new avenue for exploring new physics couplings with the 125 GeV Higgs boson at colliders.

Incompressible Limit of the Compressible Nematic Liquid Crystal Flow

This paper is concerned with the incompressible limit of the compressible hydrodynamic flow of liquid crystals with periodic boundary conditions in R^N(N = 2, 3). It is rigorously shown that the local (and global) strong solution of the compressible system converges to the local (and global) strong solution of the incompressible system. Furthermore, the convergence rates are also obtained in some sense.

Inclusive b-jet production in heavy ion collisions at the LHC

Theoretical and experimental advances in understanding light jet production and modification in Pb+Pb reactions at a center-of-mass energy 2.76 TeV have been a highlight of the LHC heavy ion program. At the same time, the detailed mechanisms of heavy quark energy loss in dense QCD matter are not yet fully understood. With this motivation, we present theoretical predictions for the nuclear-induced attenuation of the differential cross sections for inclusive b-jet production in heavy ion collisions at the LHC for comparison to upcoming data. We find that for transverse momenta pT > 75 GeV both hadronization and mass effects are negligible and this attenuation is comparable to the one observed for light jets. We discuss how the detailed b-jet quenching patterns can be used to gain new insight into the in-medium heavy flavor dynamics.

Large θ_13 in a SUSY SU(5)xT' Model

In the model based on SUSY SU(5) combined with the T' family symmetry, it is shown in Phys. Lett. B 652, 34 (2007) and Phys. Lett. B 681, 444 (2009) that fermion mass hierarchy and mixing angles can be naturally generated in both lepton and quark sectors compatible with various experimental measurements. But the predicted value for the non-zero lepton mixing angle of θ_13 \simeq θ_c/3\sqrt{2} contradicts the recent experimental results from Daya Bay and RENO. We propose to introduce one more singlet flavon field in the neutrino sector, and with its additional contribution, we are able to generate the large mixing angle θ_13 ~ 8^{\circ}-10^{\circ}. The analytical expressions of the mixing angles and neutrino masses with the additional flavon field are derived. Our numerical results show that a large region in the model parameter space is allowed for the normal hierarchy case, while a much smaller region is allowed for the inverted hierarchy case. In addition, the predicted value of the solar mixing angle is not affected by the additional singlet contribution. On the other hand, there exists a correlation between θ_13 value and θ_23 - π/4, as a result of the additional singlet contribution. We also make predictions for various other variables that can be potentially tested in the future neutrino experiments such as the Dirac CP phase, which is predicted to be in the range of δ~ (195^{\circ}-200^{\circ}), and the neutrinoless double beta decay matrix element, . One numerical example with the minimal χ^2 fit is presented, and the model predictions are consistent with all experimental results.

MeV dark matter in the 3+1+1 model

The existence of light sterile neutrinos in the eV mass range with relatively large mixing angles with the active neutrinos has been proposed for a variety of reasons, including to improve the fit to the LSND and MiniBooNE neutrino oscillation experiments, and reactor disappearance experiments. In ref. Phys. Rev. D 84, 053001 (2011), it was shown that neutrino mixing with a heavier sterile neutrino, in the mass range between 33 eV and several GeV, could significantly affect and improve the agreement between neutrino oscillation models with light sterile neutrinos and short baseline experimental results, allowing for a new source of CP violation in appearance experiments and for different apparent mixing angles in appearance and disappearance experiments. However in refs. Phys. Rev. D 86, 033015 (2012) and JHEP 1204, 083 (2012) it was shown that various collider experiment, supernovae, and cosmological constraints can eliminate most of the parameter region where such a heavy sterile neutrino can have a significant effect on neutrino oscillations. In this paper we consider the effects of allowing a new light scalar in the MeV mass region, which is a potential dark matter candidate, to interact with the sterile neutrinos, and show that the resulting model is a consistent theory of neutrino oscillation anomalies and dark matter which can also potentially explain the INTEGRAL excess of 511 keV gamma rays in the central region of the galaxy.

Regularity and existence of global solutions to the Ericksen-Leslie system in $\mathbb R^2$

In this paper, we first establish the regularity theorem for suitable weak solutions to the Ericksen-Leslie system in dimensions two. Building on such a regularity, we then establish the existence of a global weak solution to the Ericksen-Leslie system in $\mathbb R^2$ for any initial data in the energy space, under the physical constraint conditions on the Leslie coefficients ensuring the dissipation of energy of the system, which is smooth away from at most finitely many times. This extends earlier works by Lin,Lin, and Wang on a simplified nematic liquid crystal flow in dimensions two.

Collisions of Jets of Particles from Active Galactic Nuclei with Neutralino Dark Matter

We examine the possibility that energetic Standard Model particles contained in the jets produced by active galactic nuclei (AGN) may scatter off of the dark matter halo which is expected to surround the AGN. In particular, if there are nearby states in the dark sector which can appear resonantly in the scattering, the cross section can be enhanced and a distinctive edge feature in the energy spectrum may appear. We examine bounds on supersymmetric models which may be obtained from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope observation of the nearby AGN Centaurus A.

Compatibility of theta13 and the Type I Seesaw Model with A4 Symmetry

We derive formulae for neutrino masses and mixing angles in a type I seesaw framework with an underlying A4 flavor symmetry. In particular, the Majorana neutrino mass matrix includes contributions from an A4 triplet, 1, 1', and 1" flavon fields. Using these formulae, we constrain the general A4 parameter space using the updated global fits on neutrino mixing angles and mass squared differences, including results from the Daya Bay and RENO experiments, and we find predictive relations among the mixing parameters for certain choices of the triplet vacuum expectation value. In the normal hierarchy case, sizable deviation from maximal atmospheric mixing is predicted, and such deviation is strongly correlated with the value of theta13 in the range of ~ (8-10) degrees. On the other hand, such deviation is negligible and insensitive to theta13 in the inverted mass hierarchy case. We also show expectations for the Dirac CP phase resulting from the parameter scan. Future refined measurements of neutrino mixing angles will test these predicted correlations and potentially show evidence for particular triplet vev patterns.
