Ripple-Pivot Search: Active Parallel Decoding for Diffusion Large Language Models

Diffusion Large Language Models (dLLMs) have emerged as a competitive alternative to autoregressive language models, offering the potential for substantially faster inference through parallel decoding. Existing parallel decoding schedulers typically commit positions only after they meet a per-position criterion, overlooking how early commitments may benefit subsequent decoding. We identify a ripple effect in dLLM decoding: proactively committing a mid-entropy pivot position can induce a pronounced reduction in uncertainty across the remaining masked positions. This uncertainty reduction allows subsequent steps to unmask more tokens in parallel, thereby accelerating the overall decoding process. To exploit the ripple effect, we propose Ripple-Pivot Search (RPS), a novel training-free decoding method that seeks mid-entropy positions as promising candidate pivots (where to decode), and determines their token assignment that yields the greatest downstream benefit via lookahead evaluation (what to decode). Across 3 dLLMs and 4 reasoning and code-generation benchmarks, RPS achieves 4-10$\times$ wall-clock speedup over the standard decoder while preserving generation quality, and improves accuracy over the previous lookahead baseline by up to 5.49% while delivering higher throughput in most settings. When integrated with KV caching, RPS further achieves up to 18$\times$ wall-clock speedup over the standard decoder.

Reasoning Quality Matters: Combating Reasoning Collapse in LLM-based Embedding Learning

Large Language Models (LLMs) have recently shown strong potential for producing context-rich text embeddings for retrieval. Most existing methods either treat embedding learning as passive feature extraction or exploit LLM reasoning through instruction following for better embedding optimization. However, specialization toward embedding objectives can suppress useful reasoning generation or produce retrieval-irrelevant text. We refer to these two forms of degradation as reasoning collapse. To address this issue, we propose CoFree (Collapse-Free Reasoning Embedding), a two-stage framework that progressively integrates LLM reasoning into query and document embedding optimization while preserving reasoning quality. At the first stage, CoFree applies reference-guided supervised fine-tuning to restore the reasoning ability and retain representational strength of the foundation embedding model. At the second stage, we introduce dual rewards, an embedding-oriented reward and a reasoning-oriented reward, to guarantee fine-grained reasoning of the relevance toward the embedding goal in reinforcement learning. This endpoint-coupled optimization transforms embedding learning from static alignment into a high-quality reasoning-guided search process for retrieval. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of CoFree, with CoFree-4B achieving an average absolute improvement of 2.8 nDCG@10 points over Qwen3-Embedding-4B across 22 datasets from MTEB and BRIGHT. Online experiments in a real-world retrieval system further show consistent gains. Code, RTED, and model checkpoints will be made publicly available.

Structural Process Supervision for Latent Chain-of-Thought Reasoning

Latent reasoning approaches enhance token-level efficiency and robustness by replacing verbose, explicit chain-of-thought (CoT) tokens with compact continuous-space embeddings. However, existing methods lack direct process supervision over these latent embeddings, which often leads to representation collapse and uneven information distribution. To address this, we propose Prototype-Mediated Process Supervision (PMPS), which introduces learnable reasoning prototypes as semantic anchors to provide structural process-level supervision for latent reasoning. PMPS projects latent embeddings and explicit CoT embeddings into a shared prototype space, achieving many-to-many soft alignment between unequal-length representations through prototype assignment. Meanwhile, we introduce a Progressive Sequential Alignment (PSA) module to further guide training: positional priors initially encourage sequential alignment structure, then gradually relax to permit adaptive matching. Experimental results show that PMPS compresses output token length to under 50% of explicit CoT on GSM8K-Aug. Compared to leading baseline SIM-CoT, our method achieves average accuracy gains of 2.08% across different model families. On GPT-2, PMPS even surpasses CoT-SFT. On larger models and a more challenging task, PMPS consistently attains the highest accuracy among all latent reasoning methods with comparable output length.

Pailitao-MMSearch: Building Native E-Commerce Multimodal Search Foundation

The evolution of e-commerce has fundamentally transformed how users search for products, shifting from simple text-based keyword queries to complex multimodal interactions that seamlessly combine product images, natural language descriptions, and mixed-intent instructions. However, existing approaches face a critical dilemma: single-modal specialist models, deployed independently for text retrieval, visual search, and voice recognition, operate in isolation and cannot handle cross-modal queries, while general-purpose vision-language models lack the domain-specific knowledge necessary for fine-grained product understanding, user behavior modeling, and commercial intent reasoning. In this work, we present Pailitao-MMSearch, one native e-commerce multimodal search foundation model designed to bridge this gap. Our approach introduces three key innovations: (1)HybSID (Hybrid Semantic ID);(2)a two-stage continual pre-training strategy; and (3)a hybrid reasoning post-training pipeline. Built upon Qwen and deployed on Taobao's Pailitao multimodal search platform, Pailitao-MMSearch achieves substantial improvements in online A/B testing, including up to +13.61\% in Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) and +8.21\% in transaction volume compared to traditional multi-modal search pipeline, demonstrating the effectiveness of our native e-commerce multimodal search large language models.

CMI-Mem: Toward Generalizable Long-Term Memory Management via CMI-Augmented Reinforcement Learning

Memory Manager models are pivotal in agent systems. Existing reinforcement-learning methods commonly use LLM-judged synthetic question-answer (QA) pairs: this provides useful downstream task grounding, but values memory through a sampled query distribution and a fixed reader. We propose CMI-Mem, a lightweight RL memory manager with a hybrid reward. Its extrinsic QA term measures end-task correctness, while its intrinsic Conditional Mutual Information (CMI) term evaluates the information contributed by new conversational inputs relative to the current memory state without conditioning on a sampled QA query. The two signals are complementary: QA anchors task utility, whereas CMI provides per-operation supervision for relevant, non-redundant memory construction. Experiments demonstrate improved transfer across memory-use scenarios, together with more efficient training and inference from the per-operation CMI signal. Our codes are available at: https://github.com/Wyb0627/CMIMem , and the CMI-Mem-4B model checkpoint is available at: https://www.modelscope.cn/models/wyb0627/CMIMem-4B

Re$^3$Cap: Retrieval-Guided Refinement for Image Captioning Enhancement via Reinforcement Learning

Reinforcement Learning (RL) has demonstrated significant gains in image captioning, yet it is still limited in encouraging Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) to explore novel reasoning strategies. This limitation leads to a performance gap between RL and Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT). In this paper, we argue that multi-modal retrieval can serve as an effective reasoning signal for caption refinement. Based on this insight, we present the Retrieval-Guided Refinement for Image Captioning (Re$^3$Cap), a retrieval-guided reasoning strategy that enhances image captioning without requiring additional annotations. Instantiated by Caption Refinement Suggester (CRS) and Caption Quality Assessor (CQA), this strategy identifies hallucinations and omissions in image captions, leading to more accurate and detailed descriptions. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our method in image captioning, even compared with Supervised Fine-Tuning. Especially, Re$^3$Cap outperforms GRPO with an average improvement of 8.64% in relation reasoning on the COCO-LN500 benchmark.

ExpertVerse: A General-Purpose Benchmark for Expert-Level Reasoning in Knowledge-Intensive Visual Synthesis

Recent advances in multimodal generative models have enabled instruction-based image generation to move beyond semantic manipulation to knowledge-driven visual reasoning. However, these methods focus on explicit commonsense reasoning, shallow causal understanding, and direct knowledge recall, failing at knowledge-intensive generation. We develop \textbf{ExpertVerse}, a capability-centric benchmark to evaluate generative models via knowledge-intensive lens. ExpertVerse stratifies reasoning generation across an orthogonal taxonomy of \textit{9 cognitive capabilities} and \textit{8 expert disciplines}, yielding \textit{58 sub-disciplines}. We curate 1,611 expert-annotated instances covering single-image editing, multi-image composition, and text-to-image generation. We further develop an automated workflow to produce \textbf{ExpertVerse-100K}, a large-scale dataset with reasoning traces and knowledge-anchored rationale annotations. Based on this, we train \textbf{KnowThinker} with RL fine-tuning, a VLM reasoning engine with world knowledge that jointly generates thinking processes and refined instructions. Towards the cross-modal credit misalignment and multi-objective gradient conflicts in multi-reward optimization, we propose a tailored Bootstrapped Pareto Policy Optimization (BPPO), which synergizes Bootstrapping Reward Rectification (BRR) and Conflict-Aware Pareto Advantage Fusion (CPAF). Extensive results of both open-source and proprietary models exposes critical reasoning deficits, highlighting imperative for knowledge-intensive benchmarks towards next-generation visual generation.

MMShopBench: A Real-Log Benchmark for Multimodal, Multi-Turn Shopping Agents

Online shoppers increasingly turn to AI shopping assistants, using images and multi-turn dialogue to express and refine product needs that are difficult to articulate in text alone. However, existing benchmarks largely rely on text-only or synthetic requests, underrepresenting complex real-world shopping requirements jointly expressed through images and language. We introduce MMShopBench, the first real-log benchmark for multimodal, multi-turn shopping agents. Built from carefully cleaned and manually annotated shopping logs, MMShopBench provides ground-truth annotations of each request's purchase intent and mandatory product requirements. Agents must infer these requirements jointly from user images and multi-turn dialogue, retrieve candidate products through image and text search, and verify that each candidate satisfies all requirements using its product images and structured attributes. We evaluate representative open-source and proprietary models using an evidence-grounded multimodal protocol and construct a companion training set for fine-tuning an open-source model. To ensure reproducible experimentation, we build an offline shopping sandbox, where fine-tuning substantially narrows the performance gap between our open-source model and leading proprietary models, demonstrating the effectiveness of our training data.

TryOnCrafter: Unleashing Camera Trajectories for Realistic Video Virtual Try-on via a Renderable 4D Try-on Proxy

While Video Virtual Try-on (VVT) has achieved remarkable progress in synthesizing realistic garment overlays on dynamic subjects, existing paradigms remains fundamentally constrained by a passive dependency on source camera trajectories, failing to accommodate the requisite interactive freedom for omnidirectional viewpoint exploration. To address this limitation, we define a pioneering research frontier: Camera-controllable Video Virtual Try-on (CaM-VVT). Unlike conventional VVT, CaM-VVT not only necessitates viewpoint-agnostic texture hallucination but also strict structural synchronization between non-rigid human dynamics and background contexts under arbitrary, unconstrained camera movements. To tackle these challenges, we present TryOnCrafter, the first unified DiT-based framework specifically architected for the CaM-VVT task. Departing from implicit pixel-space manipulation, we introduce a Renderable 4D Try-on Proxy that explicitly decouples the human subject from the environment. This is achieved by distilling high-fidelity 2D try-on priors into a clothed 3DGS-based avatar, which is subsequently animated via SMPL-X sequences and metric-aligned into a reconstructed background point cloud. This proxy establishes a robust structural foundation with superior texture density and motion integrity. Our Proxy-Anchored Video DiT leverages this robust structural foundation as a primary geometric anchor, ensuring that the synthesized photorealistic videos are strictly constrained by prescribed trajectories and physically plausible deformations. Benefiting from the inherent editability of the 4D proxy, TryOnCrafter facilitates diverse downstream applications, including human relocalization, ``bullet time'' effects, and $360$-degree orbital viewing.

FashionChameleon: Towards Real-Time and Interactive Human-Garment Video Customization

Human-centric video customization, particularly at the garment level, has shown significant commercial value. However, existing approaches cannot support low-latency and interactive garment control, which is crucial for applications such as e-commerce and content creation. This paper studies how to achieve interactive multi-garment video customization while preserving motion coherence using only single-garment video data. We present FashionChameleon, a real-time and interactive framework for human-garment customization in autoregressive video generation, where users can interactively switch garment during generation. FashionChameleon consists of three key techniques: (i) Instead of training on multi-garment video data, we train a Teacher Model with In-Context Learning on a single reference-garment pair. By retaining the image-to-video training paradigm while enforcing a mismatch between the reference and garment image, the model is encouraged to implicitly preserve coherence during single-garment switching. (ii) To achieve consistency and efficiency during generation, we introduce Streaming Distillation with In-Context Learning, which fine-tunes the model with in-context teacher forcing and improves extrapolation consistency via gradient-reweighted distribution matching distillation. (iii) To extend the model for interactive multi-garment video customization, we propose Training-Free KV Cache Rescheduling, which includes garment KV refresh, historical KV withdraw, and reference KV disentangle to achieve garment switching while preserving motion coherence. Our FashionChameleon uniquely supports interactive customization and consistent long-video extrapolation, while achieving real-time generation at 23.8 FPS on a single GPU, 30-180$\times$ faster than existing baselines.

iTryOn: Mastering Interactive Video Virtual Try-On with Spatial-Semantic Guidance

Video Virtual Try-On (VVT) aims to seamlessly replace a garment on a person in a video with a new one. While existing methods have made significant strides in maintaining temporal consistency, they are predominantly confined to non-interactive scenarios where models merely showcase garments. This limitation overlooks a crucial aspect of real-world apparel presentation: active human-garment interaction. To bridge this gap, we introduce and formalize a new challenging task: Interactive Video Virtual Try-On (Interactive VVT), where subjects in the video actively engage with their clothing. This task introduces unique challenges beyond simple texture preservation, including: (1) resolving the semantic ambiguity of interactions from standard pose information, and (2) learning complex garment deformations from video where interactive moments are sparse and brief. To address these challenges, we propose iTryOn, a novel framework built upon a large-scale video diffusion Transformer. iTryOn pioneers a multi-level interaction injection mechanism to guide the generation of complex dynamics. At the spatial level, we introduce a garment-agnostic 3D hand prior to provide fine-grained guidance for precise hand-garment contact, effectively resolving spatial ambiguity. At the semantic level, iTryOn leverages global captions for overall context and time-stamped action captions for localized interactions, synchronized via our novel Action-aware Rotational Position Embedding (A-RoPE). Extensive experiments demonstrate that iTryOn not only achieves state-of-the-art performance on traditional VVT benchmarks but also establishes a commanding lead in the new interactive setting, marking a significant step towards more dynamic and controllable virtual try-on experiences.

Cross-modal Identity Mapping: Minimizing Information Loss in Modality Conversion via Reinforcement Learning

Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) often omit or misrepresent critical visual content in generated image captions. Minimizing such information loss will force LVLMs to focus on image details to generate precise descriptions. However, measuring information loss during modality conversion is inherently challenging due to the modal gap between visual content and text output. In this paper, we argue that the quality of an image caption is positively correlated with the similarity between images retrieved via text search using that caption. Based on this insight, we further propose Cross-modal Identity Mapping (CIM), a reinforcement learning framework that enhances image captioning without requiring additional annotations. Specifically, the method quantitatively evaluates the information loss from two perspectives: Gallery Representation Consistency and Query-gallery Image Relevance. Supervised under these metrics, LVLM minimizes information loss and aims to achieve identity mapping from images to captions. The experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of our method in image captioning, even when compared with Supervised Fine-Tuning. Particularly, on the COCO-LN500 benchmark, CIM achieves a 20% improvement in relation reasoning on Qwen2.5-VL-7B.

Improving Human Image Animation via Semantic Representation Alignment

The field of image-to-video generation has made remarkable progress. However, challenges such as human limb twisting and facial distortion persist, especially when generating long videos or modeling intensive motions. Existing human image animation works address these issues by incorporating human-specific semantic representations, e.g., dense poses or ID embeddings, as additional conditions. However, conditioning on these representations could decrease the generation flexibility. Moreover, their reliance on RGB pixel supervision also lacks emphasis on learning necessary 3D geometric relationships and temporal coherence. In contrast, we introduce a novel approach named SemanticREPA that leverages these semantic representations as supervision signals through representation alignment. Specifically, we begin by training a structure alignment module that aligns the structure representations obtained from video latents with video depth estimation features. We then fix the pretrained module, and utilize it to provide additional supervision on the structure representations of the diffusion models, achieving structure rectification to generate coherent and stable human structures. Simultaneously, we develop an ID alignment module to align the ID representations of the generated videos to face recognition features. We further propose to use the predicted structure representations to refine identity restoration in relevant regions. With structure and ID alignment, our method demonstrates superior quality on extended character motions and enhanced character consistency.

Tstars-Tryon 1.0: Robust and Realistic Virtual Try-On for Diverse Fashion Items

Recent advances in image generation and editing have opened new opportunities for virtual try-on. However, existing methods still struggle to meet complex real-world demands. We present Tstars-Tryon 1.0, a commercial-scale virtual try-on system that is robust, realistic, versatile, and highly efficient. First, our system maintains a high success rate across challenging cases like extreme poses, severe illumination variations, motion blur, and other in-the-wild conditions. Second, it delivers highly photorealistic results with fine-grained details, faithfully preserving garment texture, material properties, and structural characteristics, while largely avoiding common AI-generated artifacts. Third, beyond apparel try-on, our model supports flexible multi-image composition (up to 6 reference images) across 8 fashion categories, with coordinated control over person identity and background. Fourth, to overcome the latency bottlenecks of commercial deployment, our system is heavily optimized for inference speed, delivering near real-time generation for a seamless user experience. These capabilities are enabled by an integrated system design spanning end-to-end model architecture, a scalable data engine, robust infrastructure, and a multi-stage training paradigm. Extensive evaluation and large-scale product deployment demonstrate that Tstars-Tryon1.0 achieves leading overall performance. To support future research, we also release a comprehensive benchmark. The model has been deployed at an industrial scale on the Taobao App, serving millions of users with tens of millions of requests.

What Matters for Diffusion-Friendly Latent Manifold? Prior-Aligned Autoencoders for Latent Diffusion

Tokenizers are a crucial component of latent diffusion models, as they define the latent space in which diffusion models operate. However, existing tokenizers are primarily designed to improve reconstruction fidelity or inherit pretrained representations, leaving unclear what kind of latent space is truly friendly for generative modeling. In this paper, we study this question from the perspective of latent manifold organization. By constructing controlled tokenizer variants, we identify three key properties of a diffusion-friendly latent manifold: coherent spatial structure, local manifold continuity, and global manifold semantics. We find that these properties are more consistent with downstream generation quality than reconstruction fidelity. Motivated by this finding, we propose the Prior-Aligned AutoEncoder (PAE), which explicitly shapes the latent manifold instead of leaving diffusion-friendly manifold to emerge indirectly from reconstruction or inheritance. Specifically, PAE leverages refined priors derived from VFMs and perturbation-based regularization to turn spatial structure, local continuity, and global semantics into explicit training objectives. On ImageNet 256x256, PAE improves both training efficiency and generation quality over existing tokenizers, reaching performance comparable to RAE with up to 13x faster convergence under the same training setup and achieving a new state-of-the-art gFID of 1.03. These results highlight the importance of organizing the latent manifold for latent diffusion models.

Continuous-Time Distribution Matching for Few-Step Diffusion Distillation

Step distillation has become a leading technique for accelerating diffusion models, among which Distribution Matching Distillation (DMD) and Consistency Distillation are two representative paradigms. While consistency methods enforce self-consistency along the full PF-ODE trajectory to steer it toward the clean data manifold, vanilla DMD relies on sparse supervision at a few predefined discrete timesteps. This restricted discrete-time formulation and mode-seeking nature of the reverse KL divergence tends to exhibit visual artifacts and over-smoothed outputs, often necessitating complex auxiliary modules -- such as GANs or reward models -- to restore visual fidelity. In this work, we introduce Continuous-Time Distribution Matching (CDM), migrating the DMD framework from discrete anchoring to continuous optimization for the first time. CDM achieves this through two continuous-time designs. First, we replace the fixed discrete schedule with a dynamic continuous schedule of random length, so that distribution matching is enforced at arbitrary points along sampling trajectories rather than only at a few fixed anchors. Second, we propose a continuous-time alignment objective that performs active off-trajectory matching on latents extrapolated via the student's velocity field, improving generalization and preserving fine visual details. Extensive experiments on different architectures, including SD3-Medium and Longcat-Image, demonstrate that CDM provides highly competitive visual fidelity for few-step image generation without relying on complex auxiliary objectives. Code is available at https://github.com/byliutao/cdm.

Pailitao-VL: Unified Embedding and Reranker for Real-Time Multi-Modal Industrial Search

In this work, we presented Pailitao-VL, a comprehensive multi-modal retrieval system engineered for high-precision, real-time industrial search. We here address three critical challenges in the current SOTA solution: insufficient retrieval granularity, vulnerability to environmental noise, and prohibitive efficiency-performance gap. Our primary contribution lies in two fundamental paradigm shifts. First, we transitioned the embedding paradigm from traditional contrastive learning to an absolute ID-recognition task. Through anchoring instances to a globally consistent latent space defined by billions of semantic prototypes, we successfully overcome the stochasticity and granularity bottlenecks inherent in existing embedding solutions. Second, we evolved the generative reranker from isolated pointwise evaluation to the compare-and-calibrate listwise policy. By synergizing chunk-based comparative reasoning with calibrated absolute relevance scoring, the system achieves nuanced discriminative resolution while circumventing the prohibitive latency typically associated with conventional reranking methods. Extensive offline benchmarks and online A/B tests on Alibaba e-commerce platform confirm that Pailitao-VL achieves state-of-the-art performance and delivers substantial business impact. This work demonstrates a robust and scalable path for deploying advanced MLLM-based retrieval architectures in demanding, large-scale production environments.

REVISION:Reflective Intent Mining and Online Reasoning Auxiliary for E-commerce Visual Search System Optimization

In Taobao e-commerce visual search, user behavior analysis reveals a large proportion of no-click requests, suggesting diverse and implicit user intents. These intents are expressed in various forms and are difficult to mine and discover, thereby leading to the limited adaptability and lag in platform strategies. This greatly restricts users' ability to express diverse intents and hinders the scalability of the visual search system. This mismatch between user implicit intent expression and system response defines the User-SearchSys Intent Discrepancy. To alleviate the issue, we propose a novel framework REVISION. This framework integrates offline reasoning mining with online decision-making and execution, enabling adaptive strategies to solve implicit user demands. In the offline stage, we construct a periodic pipeline to mine discrepancies from historical no-click requests. Leveraging large models, we analyze implicit intent factors and infer optimal suggestions by jointly reasoning over query and product metadata. These inferred suggestions serve as actionable insights for refining platform strategies. In the online stage, REVISION-R1-3B, trained on the curated offline data, performs holistic analysis over query images and associated historical products to generate optimization plans and adaptively schedule strategies across the search pipeline. Our framework offers a streamlined paradigm for integrating large models with traditional search systems, enabling end-to-end intelligent optimization across information aggregation and user interaction. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach improves the efficiency of implicit intent mining from large-scale search logs and significantly reduces the no-click rate.
