Harnessing LSTM for Nonlinear Ship Deck Motion Prediction in UAV Autonomous Landing amidst High Sea States

Autonomous landing of UAVs in high sea states requires the UAV to land exclusively during the ship deck's "rest period," coinciding with minimal movement. Given this scenario, determining the ship's "rest period" based on its movement patterns becomes a fundamental prerequisite for addressing this challenge. This study employs the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network to predict the ship's motion across three dimensions: longi-tudinal, transverse, and vertical waves. In the absence of actual ship data under high sea states, this paper employs a composite sine wave model to simulate ship deck motion. Through this approach, a highly accurate model is established, exhibiting promising outcomes within various stochastic sine wave combination models.

Biclustering Methods via Sparse Penalty

In this paper, we first reviewed several biclustering methods that are used to identify the most significant clusters in gene expression data. Here we mainly focused on the SSVD(sparse SVD) method and tried a new sparse penalty named "Prenet penalty" which has been used only in factor analysis to gain sparsity. Then in the simulation study, we tried different types of generated datasets (with different sparsity and dimension) and tried 1-layer approximation then for k-layers which shows the mixed Prenet penalty is very effective for non-overlapped data. Finally, we used some real gene expression data to show the behavior of our methods.

The impact of economic policy uncertainties on the volatility of European carbon market

The European Union Emission Trading Scheme is a carbon emission allowance trading system designed by Europe to achieve emission reduction targets. The amount of carbon emission caused by production activities is closely related to the socio-economic environment. Therefore, from the perspective of economic policy uncertainty, this article constructs the GARCH-MIDAS-EUEPU and GARCH-MIDAS-GEPU models for investigating the impact of European and global economic policy uncertainty on carbon price fluctuations. The results show that both European and global economic policy uncertainty will exacerbate the long-term volatility of European carbon spot return, with the latter having a stronger impact when the change is the same. Moreover, the volatility of the European carbon spot return can be forecasted better by the predictor, global economic policy uncertainty. This research can provide some implications for market managers in grasping carbon market trends and helping participants control the risk of fluctuations in carbon allowances.
