SeekBrain: An Autonomous Multi-Agent System for Accelerating Neuroscience Discovery

Modern neuroscience relies on integrating multi-scale, multimodal datasets to uncover the neural principles underlying intelligence. However, analytical challenges posed by highly heterogeneous data and fragmented workflows increasingly constrain discoveries. Here we introduce SeekBrain, an autonomous multi-agent framework designed to accelerate neuroscience discovery through domain-grounded hierarchical planning and cross-modal data analysis. SeekBrain dynamically constructs a repertoire of analysis recipes extracted from code-paper pairs. By coupling this codified expertise with agentic planning and execution engines, the framework scalably generates hypotheses and analytical pipelines on demand. Systematic evaluation on the expert-annotated BrainArena benchmark demonstrates that SeekBrain substantially outperforms state-of-the-art agent baselines across various analysis tasks. Crucially, when deployed in real-world research, SeekBrain integrated behavioral, neural, and anatomical data to reveal structured, distributed neural representations of larval zebrafish behavior and a shared axis of regional decoding strength across the brain in a mouse decision-making task. These results establish SeekBrain as a scalable and practical tool for accelerating data-driven discoveries in neuroscience.

The Chandrasekhar's Conditions as Equilibrium and Stability of Stars in a Universal Three-Parameter Non-Maxwell Distribution

The idea of the Chandrasekhar's conditions as equilibrium and stability of stars is revisited with a new universal three-parameter non-Maxwell distribution. We derive the maximum radiation pressures in the non-Maxwell distribution for a gas star and a centrally-condensed star, respectively, and thus we generalize the Chandrasekhar's conditions in a Maxwellian sense. By numerical analyses, we find that the non-Maxwellian distribution usually reduces the maximum radiation pressures in both a gas star and a central condensed star as compared with that cases if the gas is assumed to be a Maxwellian distribution.

The properties of plasma sheath containing the primary electrons with a Cairns-distribution

We study the properties of plasma sheath containing the cold positive ions, the secondary electrons, and the primary electrons with a Cairns-distribution (a non-thermal velocity-distribution). We derive the generalized Bohm criterion and Bohm speed, the new floating potential at the wall, and the new critical secondary electron emission coefficient. We show that these properties of the plasma sheath depend significantly on the a-parameter in the non-thermal a-distribution, and so they are generally different from those of the plasma sheath if the primary electrons were assumed to be a Maxwellian distribution.

Kinetic Alfv\'en waves in the temperature anisotropic space plasma with a kappa-Maxwellian distribution

The dispersion and damping rate of kinetic Alfv\'en waves are studied in temperature anisotropic space plasma with kappa-Maxwellian distribution. Employing a kinetic approach, the wave frequency and damping rate of kinetic Alfv\'en waves and the modified ion acoustic waves are derived in a low \b{eta} plasma, which both depend on the parameters \k{appa} and . The numerical analyses show that the wave frequency of kinetic Alfv\'en waves is larger in kappa-Maxwellian plasma than that in Maxwellian case. The wave frequency of the modified ion acoustic waves in kappa-Maxwellian plasma is larger in the short-wave region but smaller in the long-wave region than that in Maxwellian case. Again, we found that the damping rate of kinetic Alfv\'en waves in kappa-Maxwellian plasma is stronger than that in Maxwellian case. The damping rate of modified ion acoustic waves in kappa-Maxwellian plasma is stronger in the short-wave region but weaker in the long-wave region than that in Maxwellian case. The impact of the parameter on the two modes is relatively small because we consider the low \b{eta} case. These results are helpful for us to understand better the characteristics of kinetic Alfv\'en waves in space plasma.

Firehose instability in the space plasma with anisotropic Cairns-distribution electrons

We study the electron firehose mode propagating parallel to the ambient magnetic field in the space plasma with anisotropic Cairns-distribution electrons. The dispersion relation, the wave frequency and the growth rate of electron firehose mode are derived, and the condition for onset of the firehose instability is obtained. We show that the wave frequency and the growth rate both depend significantly on the parameters, such as the parallel electron beta , the nonthermal parameter {\Lambda} and the electron temperature anisotropy Ae , and the anisotropic Cairns-distribution electrons change the instability condition. The numerical analyses show that the wave frequency and the growth rate of the electron firehose mode increase with increase of the parameters. The results may be helpful for understanding the firehose instability in space plasma environments.

Ion-acoustic shock and solitary waves in magnetized plasma with Cairns-Gurevich distribution electrons

The propagation properties of ion-acoustic solitary and shock waves in the magnetized viscous plasma with nonthermal trapped electrons are investigated. The Cairns-Gurevich distribution as the electron distribution is considered to describe the plasma nonthermality and particle trapping. By adopting the reductive perturbation technique, we derived the nonlinear Schamel-Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers (SKdVB) equation, and then obtained the ion-acoustic shock and solitary wave solutions of the SKdVB equation for different limiting cases. It is found that the impact of nonthermal parameter {\alpha}, external magnetic field {\Omega}, obliqueness lz, wave speed U0, and the ion kinematic viscosity {\eta}0 can significantly change the characteristics of the shock and solitary waves. These results may be useful for better understanding the propagation of nonlinear structures in space (i.e. Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere, auroral regions) and laboratory plasma with nonthermal trapped electrons.

Slowing down of charged particles in the dusty plasmas with a non-thermal velocity alpha-distribution

The slowing down of a charged particle beam passing through the dusty plasma with a non-thermal velocity alpha-distribution is studied. By using the Fokker-Planck collision theory, we derive the deceleration factor and slowing down time and make the numerical analyses. We show that the non-thermal velocity alpha-distributions of the plasma components have a significant effect on the slowing down. With increase of the mean velocity, the deceleration factor increases rapidly, reaches a peak and then decreases gradually. And the entire peak of the deceleration factor moves generally to the right with the increase of the alpha-parameter. The slowing down time decreases with the increase of the non-thermal alpha-parameter, and so the slowing down time in the non-thermal dusty plasma is generally less than that in a Maxwellian one.

Dispersion and damping of ion-acoustic waves in the plasma with a regularized kappa-distribution

The dispersion and damping of ion-acoustic waves in the plasma with a regularized kappa-distribution are studied. The generalized dispersion relation and damping rate are derived, which both depend significantly on the parameters alpha and kappa. The numerical analyses show that the wave frequency and the damping rate of ion-acoustic waves in the plasma with the regularized kappa-distribution are both generally less than those in the plasma with the kappa-distribution, and if kappa is less than a value, the ion-acoustic waves and their damping rate exist in the plasma with the regularized kappa-distribution.

Small amplitude ion-acoustic solitary waves in a four-component magneto-rotating plasma with a modified Cairns-Tsallis distribution

The small amplitude ion-acoustic solitary waves in the magneto-rotating plasma consisting of cold fluid ions, hot positrons, and the two-temperature electrons (cold and hot electrons) are investigated when the electrons obey a modified Cairns-Tsallis distribution. By using the reductive perturbation method, we derive the Korteweg-de Vries equation and the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation and obtain the small amplitude ion-acoustic solitary wave solutions. The dependences of solitary wave solutions on the nonextensive q-parameter, the nonthermal alpha-parameter and the plasma physical quantities are analyzed numerically. We show the significant effects of the nonextensive q-parameter and the nonthermal alpha-parameter etc. on the ion-acoustic solitary waves.

The collision frequency of electron-neutral-particle in the weakly ionized plasmas with Non-Maxwellian velocity distributions

The collision frequencies of electron-neutral-particle in the weakly ionized complex plasmas with the non-Maxwellian velocity distributions are studied. The average collision frequencies of electron-neutral-particle in the plasmas are derived accurately. We find that these collision frequencies are significantly dependent on the power-law spectral indices of non-Maxwellian distribution functions and so they are generally different from the collision frequencies in the plasmas with a Maxwellian velocity distribution, which will affect the transport properties of the charged particles in the plasmas. Numerically analyses are made to show the roles of the spectral indices in the average collision frequencies respectively.

The collision frequencies in the plasmas with the power-law q-distributions in nonextensive statistics

We study the collision frequencies of particles in the weakly and highly ionized plasmas with the power-law q-distributions in nonextensive statistics. We derive the average collision frequencies of neutral-neutral particle, electron-neutral particle, ion-neutral particle, electron-electron, ion-ion and electron-ion, respectively, in the q-distributed plasmas. We show that the average collision frequencies depend strongly on the q-parameter in a complex form and thus their properties are significantly different from that in Maxwell-distributed plasmas. These new average collision frequencies are important for us to study accurately the transport property in the complex plasmas with non-Maxwell/power-law velocity distributions.

Dust surface potential for the dusty plasma with negative ions and with a three-parameter non-Maxwell velocity distribution

We study the dust surface potential for the complex dusty plasma with negative ions and with a three-parameter non-Maxwell velocity distribution. The plasma contains electrons, positive ions, negative ions, and negatively charged dust particles. By using the current equilibrium condition, we derive the relationship between the normalized dust surface potential and the dusty plasma parameters such as the normalized dust number density, the temperature ratio of negative ions to electrons, the density ratio of negative ions to positive ions, and the charge number of negative ions. The numerical analyses show that the relationship depends evidently on the three parameters in the non-Maxwell distribution when the dust surface potential is relatively smaller, but with increase of the potential, such dependence will weaken soon. The dust surface potential is negative and increases monotonously with increase of the dust density, and for the complex dusty plasma with the three-parameter non-Maxwell distribution, it is generally greater than that in the same plasma with the kappa-distribution and the Maxwellian distribution.

The collision frequency of electron-neutral-particle in the weakly ionized plasma with the power-law velocity distribution

We study the collision frequency of electron-neutral-particle in the weakly ionized plasma with the power-law velocity q-distribution and derive the formulation of the average collision frequency. We find that the average collision frequency in the q-distributed plasma also depends strongly on the q-parameter and thus is generally different from that in the Maxwell-distributed plasma, which therefore modifies the transport coefficients in the previous studies of the weakly ionized plasmas with the power-law velocity distributions.

Heat conductivity and Dufour effects in the weakly ionized, magnetized and kappa-distributed plasma

By using the generalized Boltzmann equation of transport and the first-order approximation of Chapman-Enskog expansion on the kappa-distribution function, we study the thermal conductivity and Dufour effects in the weakly ionized and magnetized plasma. We show that in the kappa-distributed plasma, the thermal conductivity and Dufour coefficient are significantly different from those in the Maxell-distributed plasma, and the transverse thermal conductivity and Dufour coefficient in the kappa-distributed plasma are generally greater than those in the Maxwell-distributed plasma, and the Righi-Leduc coefficient and Hall Dufour coefficient in the kappa-distributed plasma are also generally greater than those in the Maxwell-distributed plasma.

Effect of magnetic field on transports of charged particles in the weakly ionized plasma with power-law q-distributions in nonextensive statistics

By using the generalized Boltzmann equation of transport in nonextensive statistics, we study transport properties of the diffusion flux and the heat flux of charged particles in the weakly ionized plasma with the power-law q-distributions under the magnetic field. We derive the tensor expressions of diffusion coefficient, thermal diffusion coefficient, mobility and thermal conductivity of electrons and ions in the q-distributed plasma under magnetic field. We show that the tensors of the diffusion coefficient, the thermal diffusion coefficient and the thermal conductivity are strongly depend on the q-parameters in nonextensive statistics, and so they are generally not the same as those in the magnetized plasma with a Maxwell distribution.

The dual formalisms of nonextensive thermodynamics for open systems with maximum entropy principle

We study the nonextensive thermodynamics for open systems. On the basis of the maximum entropy principle, the dual power-law q-distribution functions are re-deduced by using the dual particle number definitions and assuming that the chemical potential is constant in the two sets of parallel formalisms, where the fundamental thermodynamic equations with dual interpretations of thermodynamic quantities are derived for the open systems. By introducing parallel structures of Legendre transformations, other thermodynamic equations with dual interpretations of quantities are also deduced in the open systems, and then several dual thermodynamic relations are inferred. One can easily find that there are correlations between the dual relations, from which an equivalent rule is found that the Tsallis factor is invariable in calculations of partial derivative with constant volume or constant entropy. Using this rule, more correlations can be found. And the statistical expressions of the Lagrange internal energy and pressure are easily obtained.

The nonextensive statistical ensembles with dual thermodynamic interpretations

The nonextensive statistical ensembles are revisited for the complex systems with long-range interactions and long-range correlations. An approximation, the value of nonextensive parameter (1-q) is assumed to be very tiny, is adopted for the limit of large particle number for most normal systems. In this case, Tsallis entropy can be expanded as a function of energy and particle number fluctuation, and thus the power-law forms of the generalized Gibbs distribution and grand canonical distribution can be derived. These new distribution functions can be applied to derive the free energy and grand thermodynamic potential in nonextensive thermodynamics. In order to establish appropriate nonextensive thermodynamic formalism, the dual thermodynamic interpretations are necessary for thermodynamic relations and thermodynamic quantities. By using a new technique of parameter transformation, the single-particle distribution can be deduced from the power-law Gibbs distribution. This technique produces a link between the statistical ensemble and the quasi-independent system with two kinds of nonextensive parameter having quite different physical explanations. Furthermore, the technique is used to construct nonextensive quantum statistics and effectively to avoid the factorization difficulty in the power-law grand canonical distribution.

Thermodynamic properties of the solid and metal electrons in the nonextensive quantum statistics with a nonextensive parameter transformation

We study the thermodynamic properties of solid and metal electrons in the nonextensive quantum statistics with a nonextensive parameter transformation. First we study the nonextensive grand canonical distribution function and the nonextensive quantum statistics with a parameter transformation. Then we derive the generalized Boson distribution and Fermi distribution in the nonextensive quantum statistics. Further we study the thermodynamic properties of solid and metal electrons in the nonextensive quantum system, including the generalized Debye models, the generalized internal energies, the generalized capacities and chemical potential. We derive new expressions of these thermodynamic quantities, and we show that they all depend significantly on the nonextensive parameter and in the limit they recover to the forms in the classical quantum statistics. These new expressions may be applied to study the new characteristics in some nonextensive quantum systems where the long-range interactions and/or long-range correlations play a role.
