Enabling Metallicity Measurements of M-dwarf Microlensing Lenses out to the Galactic Bulge

We demonstrate that metallicity becomes identifiable for M-dwarf microlensing lenses out to bulge distances when multi-band lens photometry is combined with the angular Einstein radius, thereby defining the photometric--microlensing metallicity method. The cool atmospheres of M dwarfs contain abundant molecules, whose broad absorption bands make their positions in an optical--NIR color--absolute magnitude diagram sensitive to metallicity. The angular Einstein radius provides the mass--distance constraint needed to infer the lens absolute magnitude, while the intrinsic M-dwarf locus and reddening vector are non-parallel in color--color space, allowing the lens extinction and intrinsic color to be inferred simultaneously from its multi-band photometry, thereby recovering the lens intrinsic position in the metallicity-sensitive color--absolute magnitude diagram. The method requires three-band lens photometry spanning roughly the R, Z, and K bands, making it particularly well suited to Roman through its high-resolution F062, F087, and F213 imaging. With the planned Roman Galactic Bulge Time-Domain Survey (GBTDS) observations plus an additional $\sim$8 hr of F062 imaging per field ($\sim$40 hr in total) roughly a decade after Roman launch, host metallicities could be measured for $\sim$150 planetary systems under the GBTDS yield forecast, with a typical $1σ$ precision of $\sim$0.25 dex from our mock-recovery analysis. Applied homogeneously to GBTDS microlensing events with and without detected planets, the method would enable the first measurement of the occurrence--metallicity relation for cold low-mass planets beyond the snow line, constrain the low-metallicity cutoff for their formation, and extend occurrence--metallicity studies into the inner Galaxy.

Recoverability Is a Subspace Property: A Benchmark for Certified State Estimation from Partial PDE Observations

When reconstructing the hidden state of a partial differential equation (PDE) system from partial observations, aggregate prediction error measures performance on a given data distribution but does not reveal how strongly the observations constrain each predicted direction. We introduce UniPDE-Bench, a direction-wise evaluation protocol that incorporates local observation geometry into state-estimation assessment, providing a reference for prediction recovery and confidence-based selection that is independent of the estimator. The protocol whitens the joint observation Jacobian by the noise covariance and normalizes it by a state metric. Its complete right singular basis represents joint variations of the state, which a relative sensitivity threshold partitions into retained and below-threshold directions. In this common basis, the protocol evaluates recovery and the agreement between prediction claims and the geometric partition, while recovery and abstention curves describe confidence-based selection at different claim coverages. In the simulated tasks and observation configurations studied here, confidence rules whose overall ranking exceeds chance can still exhibit below-random abstention on below-threshold directions at some high claim coverages. By separating empirical recovery from direction-selection quality, the protocol relates prediction performance to local observation sensitivity and provides an evaluation of partially observed state estimators beyond aggregate error.

Automatic Item Generation for Personality Situational Judgment Tests with Large Language Models

Personality assessment through situational judgment tests (SJTs) offers unique advantages over traditional Likert-type self-report scales, yet their development remains labor-intensive, time-consuming, and heavily dependent on subject matter experts. Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) have shown promise for automatic item generation (AIG). Building on these developments, the present study focuses on developing and evaluating a structured and generalizable framework for automatically generating personality SJTs, using GPT-4 and ChatGPT-5 as empirical examples. Three studies were conducted. Study 1 systematically compared the effects of prompt design and temperature settings on the content validity of LLM-generated items to develop an effective and stable LLM-based AIG approach for personality SJT. Results showed that optimized prompts and a temperature of 1.0 achieved the best balance of creativity and accuracy on GPT-4. Study 2 examined the cross-model generalizability and reproducibility of this automated SJT generation approach through multiple rounds. The results showed that the approach consistently produced reproducible and high-quality items on ChatGPT-5. Study 3 evaluated the psychometric properties of LLM-generated SJTs covering five facets of the Big Five personality traits. Results demonstrated satisfactory reliability and validity across most facets, though limitations were observed in the convergent validity of the compliance facet and certain aspects of criterion-related validity. These findings provide robust evidence that the proposed LLM-based AIG approach can produce culturally appropriate and psychometrically sound SJTs with efficiency comparable to or exceeding traditional methods.

Binary-lens Microlensing Degeneracy: Impact on Planetary Sensitivity and Mass-ratio Function

Gravitational microlensing is a unique method for discovering cold planets across a broad mass range. Reliable statistics of the microlensing planets require accurate sensitivity estimates. However, the impact of the degeneracies in binary-lens single-source (2L1S) models that affect many actual planet detections is often omitted in sensitivity estimates, leading to potential self-inconsistency of the statistics studies. In this work, we evaluate the effect of the 2L1S degeneracies on planetary sensitivity by simulating a series of typical microlensing events and comprehensively replicating a realistic planet detection pipeline, including the anomaly identification, global 2L1S model search, and degenerate model comparison. We find that for a pure-survey statistical sample, the 2L1S degeneracies reduce the overall planetary sensitivity by $5\sim10\%$, with the effect increasing at higher planet-host mass ratios. This bias leads to an underestimation of planet occurrence rates and a flattening of the inferred mass-ratio function slope. This effect will be critical for upcoming space-based microlensing surveys like the Roman or Earth 2.0 missions, which are expected to discover $\mathcal{O}(10^3)$ planets. We also discuss the computational challenges and propose potential approaches for future applications.

A Minute-Cadence Deep Bulge Survey: First Data Release of DREAMS

The DECam Rogue Earths and Mars Survey (DREAMS), a NOIRLab survey program, has been conducting a three-year survey covering a 5 deg$^2$ area in the Galactic bulge (roughly spanning $-1.2^\circ \lesssim \ell \lesssim +2.1^\circ$ and $-2.8^\circ \lesssim b \lesssim -0.6^\circ$) since 2025 June. Its primary science goal is to detect low-mass free-floating planets through microlensing, while its minute-level cadence ($20-40\,\mathrm{hr}^{-1}$ in $z$ band and $4-8\,\mathrm{hr}^{-1}$ in $r$ band) also enables the detection and characterization of rapid phenomena on timescales of minutes to hours such as stellar flares and pulsating stars. The survey reaches a single-exposure depth of $z_{\rm AB}\sim 22$ mag, about two magnitudes deeper than previous bulge time-domain surveys. We present the data reduction and calibration of the DREAMS observations obtained in 2025 and introduce the first DREAMS data release (DR1). DR1 includes 1,856 $z$-band observations and 325 $r$-band observations for 59,372,789 stars. The DREAMS DR1 catalog contains about twice as many stars as previous catalog covering the same 5 deg$^2$ area. We present DREAMS light curves for a known blue large-amplitude pulsator (BLAP) and a known low-amplitude transiting system to demonstrate the survey's capabilities. We also perform a pilot search for short-duration variables over about 0.4% of the DR1 sample, identifying one new short microlensing event, two stellar flares, and 24 new short variables. This suggests that DREAMS DR1 may contain hundreds of stellar flares and thousands of previously unknown short variables.

SlimPer: Make Personalization Model Slim and Smart

Transformer-style architectures are increasingly adopted for industrial recommendation systems, yet they inherit a design premise misaligned with the task: generative models rely on per-token autoregressive prediction, which justifies maintaining large intermediate tensors that scale with sequence length. In contrast, recommendation systems produce a single set of relevance scores for each pair without token-level supervision. Leveraging this observation, we propose SlimPer, which reformulates personalized ranking as iterative refinement of a compact, unified knowledge base. At each layer, the model selectively queries raw multi-modal user-side tokens, computes explicit relevance matching scores, and refines the knowledge base, all in O(N) per-layer cost with a fixed-size intermediate representation. As a result, model depth is decoupled from user history length, enabling deeper relevance understanding without proportional growth in compute or memory; request-only optimization further trims memory by sharing a single copy of user-side tokens across all candidate items. SlimPer unifies sparse, dense, and sequence features within a single backbone and provides inherent interpretability through its attention mechanism. Deployed on Instagram Reels and Feed, SlimPer yields measurable improvements in user engagement while streamlining the overall system and enabling effective modeling of 10k+ fine-grained user history events.

Analysis of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)$ Charmonium Production in Ultraperipheral Lead-Lead and Proton-Lead Collisions at LHC Energies

The two gluon exchange model serves as a key framework for describing the photoproduction of heavy vector mesons, and the photoproduction cross sections derived from it provide essential input for studies of Ultra-Peripheral Collisions (UPCs). Building on the model successful description of $J/ψ$ and $ψ(2S)$ photoproduction in previous work, we use the STARlight program to systematically investigate charmonium UPCs in PbPb and $p$Pb collisions at LHC energies. To reduce discrepancies between theoretical predictions and experimental data for rapidity and transverse momentum distributions in PbPb collisions, a phenomenological suppression factor is introduced to correct the theoretical results. We find that, in the TeV energy range, the corrected predictions agree well with experimental data within uncertainties and successfully reproduce the characteristic double-peak structure in rapidity distributions. In contrast, no significant suppression is observed in $p$Pb UPCs, which reflects the asymmetric photon fluxes and the dominant contribution from the photoproduction interaction branch. The transverse momentum distributions from STARlight simulations also match the diffractive pattern of coherent production seen experimentally, although the overall yield remains slightly overpredicted. This work further validates the applicability of photoproduction cross sections from the two gluon exchange model for charmonium UPC studies, and offers valuable phenomenological guidance for future experimental design and data analysis in UPC measurements of charmonium production.

Differentiable Efficient Operator Search

Efficient multimodal foundation models often rely on manually designed token-reduction operators, such as pruning, merging, pooling, and adaptive reweighting. Although these operators appear different, we show that they can be interpreted as distinct regimes of a shared operator space. Based on this view, we introduce Efficient Operator Search, a differentiable framework that jointly searches where to reduce tokens, how many tokens to retain, and how reduced token information should be processed. The proposed search space parameterizes layer activation, retention budget, and operator behavior, while the search policy optimizes task performance under one-sided budget and cost constraints. This formulation recovers representative hand-designed baselines as special cases and further discovers hybrid operators beyond isolated manual designs. Experiments on multimodal benchmarks show that the searched operators achieve competitive accuracy-efficiency trade-offs, especially under aggressive visual-token reduction. These results suggest that efficient multimodal inference can be reframed from manual operator design to differentiable operator search.

Mass Production of 2023 KMTNet Microlensing Planets. III: Three Planets from the Subprime Field

To complete the analysis of the 2023 KMTNet subprime-field microlensing planetary events identified by its AlertFinder system, we present the analysis of six events, KMT-2023-BLG-(1810, 0084, 1118, 0584, 1697, 2218). We find that the first three events are securely confirmed as planetary, with inferred mass ratios of $\log q \sim -1.9$, $-2.0$, and $-2.6$, respectively. The remaining three events exhibit the well-known degeneracy between binary-lens/single-source (2L1S) and single-lens/binary-source (1L2S) models, and two of these also admit viable stellar binary solutions. A Bayesian analysis indicates that the companions in the confirmed planetary events are likely either super-Jupiters orbiting beyond the snow line of M- or K-dwarf hosts or, for two degenerate solutions of KMT-2023-BLG-1118, Saturn-mass planets orbiting late-type M dwarfs. To date, the 2023 KMTNet sample contains 25 unambiguous planetary events, and its mass-ratio distribution is consistent with that of the KMTNet planetary sample from 2016--2019.

Imaging Exploration of Molecular Subtypes in Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) is an aggressive malignancy with marked biological heterogeneity and variable clinical outcomes. Although molecular profiling has improved understanding of TSCC heterogeneity, its clinical use remains constrained by invasive tissue sampling and limited representation of whole-tumor spatial complexity. Meanwhile, most radiomics studies in TSCC have focused on downstream clinical endpoints, and whether imaging can non-invasively reflect intrinsic molecular subtypes remains unclear. In this study, an integrated transcriptomic-radiomics framework was used to investigate the relationship between preoperative imaging phenotypes and molecular subtypes in TSCC. Transcriptomic data from 60 TSCC cases in The Cancer Genome Atlas were analyzed using unsupervised consensus clustering, followed by differential expression and functional enrichment analyses. Matched preoperative imaging data from The Cancer Imaging Archive were manually annotated for primary tumor regions, and radiomic features were extracted using PyRadiomics; group differences were assessed with the U-test. Two stable molecular subtypes, C1 and C2, were identified. Their biological differences were mainly associated with squamous epithelial differentiation, inflammatory signaling, and lipid metabolism, with C2 showing greater enrichment of immune-related pathways. In addition, 10 radiomic features differed significantly between the two subtypes, mainly wavelet-derived texture features from gray-level size zone, dependence, co-occurrence, and run length matrices (P=0.00202-0.0162). These findings support the potential of radiomics as a non-invasive approach for characterizing molecular heterogeneity in TSCC and provide an initial radiogenomic framework for biologically informed preoperative assessment.

NTIRE 2026 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Restoration in the Wild with Generative Models: Datasets, Methods and Results

This paper presents an overview of the NTIRE 2026 Challenge on Short-form UGC Video Restoration in the Wild with Generative Models. This challenge utilizes a new short-form UGC (S-UGC) video restoration benchmark, termed KwaiVIR, which is contributed by USTC and Kuaishou Technology. It contains both synthetically distorted videos and real-world short-form UGC videos in the wild. For this edition, the released data include 200 synthetic training videos, 48 wild training videos, 11 validation videos, and 20 testing videos. The primary goal of this challenge is to establish a strong and practical benchmark for restoring short-form UGC videos under complex real-world degradations, especially in the emerging paradigm of generative-model-based S-UGC video restoration. This challenge has two tracks: (i) the primary track is a subjective track, where the evaluation is based on a user study; (ii) the second track is an objective track. These two tracks enable a comprehensive assessment of restoration quality. In total, 95 teams have registered for this competition. And 12 teams submitted valid final solutions and fact sheets for the testing phase. The submitted methods achieved strong performance on the KwaiVIR benchmark, demonstrating encouraging progress in short-form UGC video restoration in the wild.

Mass Production of 2023 KMTNet Microlensing Planets. II: Two Planets and A Brown Dwarf

To expand the homogeneous microlensing planetary sample of the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet), we investigate six planetary candidates identified by the AnomalyFinder search in the 2023 prime-field data, namely KMT-2023-BLG-1592, OGLE-2023-BLG-0766, KMT-2023-BLG-0332, KMT-2023-BLG-0486, KMT-2023-BLG-0792, and OGLE-2023-BLG-1043. Light-curve modeling indicates that the first two events have planetary mass ratios of $\log q \sim -3.0$ and $-2.6$, while the third exhibits a brown dwarf mass ratio of $\log q \sim -1.4$. The remaining three events show the well-known degeneracy between the binary-lens single-source (2L1S) and single-lens binary-source (1L2S) interpretations. A Bayesian analysis yields companion masses of about 0.6 and 1.2 Jupiter masses for the two planetary systems, likely orbiting beyond the snow lines of M- or K-dwarf hosts. A review of the KMTNet planetary sample shows that candidates discovered by AnomalyFinder are significantly more likely to exhibit the 2L1S/1L2S degeneracy, consistent with the tendency of AnomalyFinder to detect subtler planetary signals.

Two Low Mass-Ratio Microlensing Planets and Two Types of Central-Resonant Degeneracy

We present observations and analysis of two low planet/host mass-ratio ($q$) microlensing planets discovered in high-magnification events. KMT-2025-BLG-0811Lb has $q \sim 4.5 \times 10^{-5}$, and a Bayesian analysis favors a super-Earth/mini-Neptune orbiting an M- or K-dwarf host at a projected separation of $\sim 3$ au. KMT-2025-BLG-0912Lb has $q = 2.6 \times 10^{-4}$ and likely hosts a super-Earth/mini-Neptune around either a low-mass M dwarf or a brown dwarf at $\sim 1$ au. Even with an observing cadence of $Γ> 30~{\rm hr}^{-1}$ during the planetary signal, KMT-2025-BLG-0811 still exhibits the "central-resonant" degeneracy. Reviewing nine such events, we find that the "central-resonant" degeneracy can be divided into two distinct types that occupy separate regions in the plane of $q$ and normalized source radius ($ρ$). Type~I events have similar $q$ but substantially different $ρ$ and are more difficult to resolve from the light curves. For Type~II events, the "resonant" solutions have relatively lower $q$ and larger $ρ$. Our review provides guidance for searching for the alternative solution once one solution has been identified.

Biorthogonal ensembles of derivative type

In this paper, we prove that biorthogonal ensembles on the real line with a specific derivative structure admit an explicit correlation kernel of double contour integral form. We will demonstrate that this expression is a valuable starting point for asymptotic analysis and that our class of biorthogonal ensembles admits a large variety of limit kernels, by proving that two new classes of limit kernels can occur. The first type is a deformation of the hard edge Bessel kernel which arises in polynomial ensembles describing the eigenvalues of the sum of two random matrices, while the second type arises for Muttalib-Borodin type deformations of polynomial ensembles.

KMT-2025-BLG-1314 and KMT-2025-BLG-1392: two microlensing planetary/brown-dwarf candidates analyzed with differentiable code

Analysis of binary-lens microlensing events typically requires intensive computation because of the multimodal and complex posterior distributions. With the recent development of the JAX-based differentiable binary-lensing modeling package microlux, we present an analysis of two microlensing events with planet/brown-dwarf candidates, KMT-2025-BLG-1314 and KMT-2025-BLG-1392. Both events exhibit the "Close/Wide" degeneracy, and KMT-2025-BLG-1314 suffers from the "Planet/Binary" degeneracy and a recently recognized "Point/Finite" degeneracy among the planetary solutions. For KMT-2025-BLG-1314, the binary mass ratio is $\log q \sim -3.5$ for the planetary solutions and $\log q > -1.5$ for the binary solutions, while for KMT-2025-BLG-1392, we find $\log q \sim -1.3$. We show that for the analysis of KMT-2025-BLG-1314, Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC), enabled by microlux, provides robust parameter inference and outperforms traditional Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods in the presence of bimodal posteriors.

A Newly Identified Degeneracy Keeps the Planetary Interpretation Viable for OGLE-2011-BLG-0950

The microlensing event OGLE-2011-BLG-0950 exhibits the well-known ``Planet/Binary'' degeneracy, in which distinct lens configurations produce similar light curves but imply substantially different mass ratios between the lens components. A previous study suggested that high-resolution imaging could break this degeneracy through differences in the lens-source relative proper motion. In this work, we identify a new planetary model for this event that arises from a newly identified degeneracy, simultaneously reproducing the observed light curve and remaining consistent with the relative proper motion measured from high-resolution imaging. By combining constraints from the light-curve modeling and high-resolution observations, we infer a lens system consisting of a $\sim 1~M_{\odot}$ host star orbited by a $\sim 1.5~M_{\rm Jup}$ planet, with a projected separation of about 2 or 8 au, subject to the ``Close/Wide'' degeneracy. Our reanalysis of the color-magnitude diagram further indicates that the source star has unresolved companions that contribute non-negligible blended light, highlighting the importance of carefully accounting for source and lens companions in future Roman microlensing analyses. Finally, we show that adopting a single mass--luminosity relation significantly underestimates the uncertainties in the inferred lens properties for host masses $\gtrsim 1~M_{\odot}$.

KMT-2025-BLG-1616Lb: First Microlensing Bound Planet From DREAMS

We present observations and analysis of the bound planetary microlensing event KMT-2025-BLG-1616. The planetary signal was captured by the Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) and the DECam Rogue Earths and Mars Survey (DREAMS). DREAMS's minute-cadence observations break the central/resonant degeneracy in the binary-lens models. The color of the faint source star ($I=22$) is measured from the DREAMS's $r - z$ color. The planetary system has a planet-host mass ratio of $q \sim 5 \times 10^{-4}$. A Bayesian analysis yields a host-star mass of $\sim 0.3\,M_\odot$, a planetary mass of $\sim 40\,M_{\oplus}$, a projected planet-host separation of $\sim 1.6~\mathrm{au}$, and a lens distance of $\sim 7.5~\mathrm{kpc}$. Based on the photometric precision achieved by DREAMS for this event, we simulate free-floating planet (FFP) detections and find that DREAMS is sensitive to Mars-mass FFPs in the Galactic bulge and Moon-mass FFPs in the Galactic disk.
