Antenna subtraction at NNLO for heavy quark pair production at hadron colliders: the non-diagonal channels

We present the calculation involving the $qq$, $qq'$ and $qg$ partonic channels contributing to heavy-quark pair production at hadron colliders through next-to-next-to-leading order in QCD using the antenna subtraction formalism. The calculation is performed in full colour and implemented within the NNLOJET framework. Building upon previously available results, we complete the NNLO treatment of the $qq$ and $qq'$ channels by deriving the integrated subtraction contributions required at the real virtual and double-virtual levels. We further present for the first time the NNLO antenna subtraction terms related to the $qg$-channel in full colour. The calculation requires several new ingredients, including massive soft factors and convolutions involving integrated massive antennae thereby extending the integrated antenna library to cope with processes with massive fermions. We validate the calculation through analytic infrared pole cancellation and numerical comparisons with existing results. These results complete the NNLO description of the $qq$, $qq'$, and $qg$ channels and constitute an important step towards a fully differential NNLO treatment of heavy-quark pair production within the antenna subtraction formalism.

Precision determination of $α_\text{s}$ from Dijet Cross Sections in the Multi-TeV Range

In this talk we present a determination of the strong coupling constant $α_\text{s}$ and its energy-scale dependence based on a next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD analysis of dijet production. Using the invariant mass of the dijet system to probe $α_\text{s}$ at different scales, we extract a value of $α_\text{s}(m_\text{Z})=0.1178 \pm 0.0022$ from LHC dijet data. The combination of various LHC datasets significantly extends the precision and scale reach of the analysis, enabling the first determination of $α_\text{s}$ up to 7 TeV. By incorporating dijet cross sections from HERA, we further probe $α_\text{s}$ at smaller scales, covering a kinematic range of more than three orders of magnitude. Our results are in excellent agreement with QCD predictions based on the renormalization group equation, providing a stringent test of the running of the strong coupling across a wide energy range.

Precise Determination of the Strong Coupling Constant from Dijet Cross Sections up to the Multi-TeV Range

We determine the value of the strong coupling $α_\text{s}$ and study its running over a wide range of scales as probed by the dijet production process at hadron colliders, based on an NNLO QCD analysis of LHC dijet data. From a large subset of these data a value of $α_\text{s} (m_\text{Z}) = 0.1178 \pm 0.0022$ is obtained for the strong coupling at the scale of the Z-boson mass $m_\text{Z}$, using the invariant mass of the dijet system to select the scale where $α_\text{s}$ is probed. The combination of different data sets enhances the reach and precision of the analysis in the mutli-TeV range and allows for the first determination of $α_\text{s}$ up to scales of 7 TeV. Complementing the LHC data with dijet cross sections measured at the HERA electron-proton collider, the kinematic range is extended to test the running of the strong coupling towards smaller scales. Our results exhibit excellent agreement with predictions based on the renormalization group equation of QCD, and represent a comprehensive test of the asymptotic behavior of QCD, spanning more than three orders of magnitude in energy scale.

Status of NNLO QCD corrections for process with one or more jets in the final state at the LHC

The abundant amount of data to be collected by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations in future runs of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN opens up a new era of precision physics. Some of the most prominent precision observables are related to processes with one or more jets in the final state. In order to fully exploit the potential of the LHC and the HL-LHC, it is imperative to make theoretical predictions at the level of accuracy that matches or even exceeds that of the upcoming measurements. In this talk we present a review of the status of theoretical predictions including NNLO QCD corrections for process with one or more jets in the final state at the LHC.

Deteção de estruturas permanentes a partir de dados de séries temporais Sentinel 1 e 2

Mapping structures such as settlements, roads, individual houses and any other types of artificial structures is of great importance for the analysis of urban growth, masking, image alignment and, especially in the studied use case, the definition of Fuel Management Networks (FGC), which protect buildings from forest fires. Current cartography has a low generation frequency and their resolution may not be suitable for extracting small structures such as small settlements or roads, which may lack forest fire protection. In this paper, we use time series data, extracted from Sentinel-1 and 2 constellations, over Santarém, Mação, to explore the detection of permanent structures at a resolution of 10 by 10 meters. For this purpose, a XGBoost classification model is trained with 133 attributes extracted from the time series from all the bands, including normalized radiometric indices. The results show that the use of time series data increases the accuracy of the extraction of permanent structures when compared using only static data, using multitemporal data also increases the number of detected roads. In general, the final result has a permanent structure mapping with a higher resolution than state of the art settlement maps, small structures and roads are also more accurately represented. Regarding the use case, by using our final map for the creation of FGC it is possible to simplify and accelerate the process of delimitation of the official FGC.
