On maximum distance separable and completely regular codes

We investigate when a maximum distance separable ($MDS$) code over $F_q$ is also completely regular ($CR$). For lengths $n=q+1$ and $n=q+2$ we provide a complete classification of the $MDS$ codes that are $CR$ or at least uniformly packed in the wide sense ($UPWS$). For the more restricted case $n\leq q$ with $q\leq 5$ we obtain a full classification (up to equivalence) of all nontrivial $MDS$ codes: there are none for $q=2$; only the ternary Hamming code for $q=3$; four nontrivial families for $q=4$; and exactly six linear $MDS$ codes for $q=5$ (three of which are $CR$ and one admits a self-dual version). Additionally, we close two gaps left open in a previous classification of self-dual $CR$ codes with covering radius $ρ\leq 3$: we precisely determine over which finite fields the $MDS$ self-dual completely regular codes with parameters $[2,1,2]_q$ and $[4,2,3]_q$ exist.

On new infinite families of completely regular and completely transitive codes

In two previous papers we constructed new families of completely regular codes by concatenation methods. Here we determine cases in which the new codes are completely transitive. For these cases we also find the automorphism groups of such codes. For the remaining cases, we show that the codes are not completely transitive assuming an upper bound on the order of the monomial automorphism groups, according to computational results.

On Z2Z4-additive complementary dual codes and related LCD codes

Linear complementary dual codes were defined by Massey in 1992, and were used to give an optimum linear coding solution for the two user binary adder channel. In this paper, we define the analog of LCD codes over fields in the ambient space with mixed binary and quaternary alphabets. These codes are additive, in the sense that they are additive subgroups, rather than linear as they are not vector spaces over some finite field. We study the structure of these codes and we use the canonical Gray map from this space to the Hamming space to construct binary LCD codes in certain cases.

Hadamard full propelinear codes with associated group $C_{2t}\times C_2$; rank and kernel

We introduce the Hadamard full propelinear codes that factorize as direct product of groups such that their associated group is $C_{2t}\times C_2$. We study the rank, the dimension of the kernel, and the structure of these codes. For several specific parameters we establish some links from circulant Hadamard matrices and the nonexistence of the codes we study. We prove that the dimension of the kernel of these codes is bounded by 3 if the code is nonlinear. We also get an equivalence between circulant complex Hadamard matrix and a type of Hadamard full propelinear code, and we find a new example of circulant complex Hadamard matrix of order 16.

A characterization of $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_2[u]$-linear codes

We prove that the class of $\Z_2\Z_2[u]$-linear codes is exactly the class of $\Z_2$-linear codes with automorphism group of even order. Using this characterization, we give examples of known codes, e.g. perfect codes, which has a nontrivial $\Z_2\Z_2[u]$ structure. We also exhibit an example of a $\Z_2$-linear code which is not $\Z_2\Z_2[u]$-linear. Also, we state that duality of $\Z_2\Z_2[u]$-linear codes is the same that duality of $\Z_2$-linear codes. Finally, we prove that the class of $\Z_2\Z_4$-linear codes which are also $\Z_2$-linear is strictly contained in the class of $\Z_2\Z_2[u]$-linear codes.

Z2Z4-additive cyclic codes, generator polynomials and dual codes

A ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive code ${\cal C}\subseteq{\mathbb{Z}}_2^α\times{\mathbb{Z}}_4^β$ is called cyclic if the set of coordinates can be partitioned into two subsets, the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_2$ and the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_4$ coordinates, such that any cyclic shift of the coordinates of both subsets leaves the code invariant. These codes can be identified as submodules of the $\mathbb{Z}_4[x]$-module $\mathbb{Z}_2[x]/(x^α-1)\times\mathbb{Z}_4[x]/(x^β-1)$. The parameters of a ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive cyclic code are stated in terms of the degrees of the generator polynomials of the code. The generator polynomials of the dual code of a ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive cyclic code are determined in terms of the generator polynomials of the code ${\cal C}$.

There is exactly one Z2Z4-cyclic 1-perfect code

Let ${\cal C}$ be a ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive code of length $n > 3$. We prove that if the binary Gray image of ${\cal C}$, $C=Φ({\cal C})$, is a 1-perfect nonlinear code, then ${\cal C}$ cannot be a ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-cyclic code except for one case of length $n=15$. Moreover, we give a parity check matrix for this cyclic code. Adding an even parity check coordinate to a ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive 1-perfect code gives an extended 1-perfect code. We also prove that any such code cannot be ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-cyclic.

Z2-double cyclic codes

A binary linear code $C$ is a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-double cyclic code if the set of coordinates can be partitioned into two subsets such that any cyclic shift of the coordinates of both subsets leaves invariant the code. These codes can be identified as submodules of the $\mathbb{Z}_2[x]$-module $\mathbb{Z}_2[x]/(x^r-1)\times\mathbb{Z}_2[x]/(x^s-1).$ We determine the structure of $\mathbb{Z}_2$-double cyclic codes giving the generator polynomials of these codes. The related polynomial representation of $\mathbb{Z}_2$-double cyclic codes and its duals, and the relations between the polynomial generators of these codes are studied.

Permutation decoding of Z2Z4-linear codes

An alternative permutation decoding method is described which can be used for any binary systematic encoding scheme, regardless whether the code is linear or not. Thus, the method can be applied to some important codes such as Z2Z4-linear codes, which are binary and, in general, nonlinear codes in the usual sense. For this, it is proved that these codes allow a systematic encoding scheme. As a particular example, this permutation decoding method is applied to some Hadamard Z2Z4-linear codes.

On linear $q$-ary completely regular codes with $ρ=2$ and dual antipodal

We characterize all linear $q$-ary completely regular codes with covering radius $ρ=2$ when the dual codes are antipodal. These completely regular codes are extensions of linear completely regular codes with covering radius 1, which are all classified. For $ρ=2$, we give a list of all such codes known to us. This also gives the characterization of two weight linear antipodal codes.

Plotkin construction: rank and kernel

Given two binary codes of length n, using Plotkin construction we obtain a code of length 2n. The construction works for linear and nonlinear codes. For the linear case, it is straightforward to see that the dimension of the final code is the sum of the dimensions of the starting codes. For nonlinear codes, the rank and the dimension of the kernel are standard mesures of linearity. In this report, we prove that both parameters are also the sum of the corresponding ones of the starting codes.
