Muon Oscillations

Muons produced via the $π\to μν_μ$ decay are in a coherent superposition of energy states because the $ν_μ$ is not a mass eigenstate. This presents an opportunity to access neutrino mixing parameters via muon decay. The oscillation period is long compared to the muon lifetime which presents some experimental challenges.

Pion Oscillations

Pions produced via the $D^{+} \to π^{+} \overline{K^{0}}$ decay are in an entangled superposition of energy states because the $\overline{K^{0}}$ is not a mass eigenstate. This presents an opportunity to access kaon mixing parameters via $π$ decay accompanied by flavor tagged kaons. The pion oscillation frequency is $Δm_{K} \frac{m_{K}}{m_{D}}$, about 224 MHz. This method may help refine measurements of $Δm_{D^{0}}$ via $B^{+} \to π^{+} \overline{D^{0}}$.
