Further Remarks on the Sampled-Data Feedback Stabilization Problem

The paper deals with the problem of the sampled data feedback stabilization for autonomous nonlinear systems. The corresponding results extend those obtained in earlier works by the same authors. The sufficient conditions we establish are based on the existence of discontinuous control Lyapunov functions and the corresponding results are applicable to a class of nonlinear affine in the control systems.

A General Class of Control Lyapunov Functions and Sampled-Data Stabilization

The present work extends recent results by second author concerning sampled-data feedback stabilization for affine in the control of nonlinear systems with nonzero drift term, under the presence of a generalized control Lyapunov function associated with appropriate Lie algebraic hypotheses concerning the dynamics of the system. The main results of present work, constitute a generalization of the well-known "Artstein-Sontag" theorem on asymptotic stabilization by means of an almost smooth feedback controller. The analysis is limited to the affine single-input nonlinear systems with nonzero drift term, however, the results can easily be extended to the multi-input case. An illustrative example of the derived results is included.

Observability and State Estimation for a Class of Nonlinear Systems

We derive sufficient conditions for the solvability of the state estimation problem for a class of nonlinear control time-varying systems which includes those, whose dynamics have triangular structure. The state estimation is exhibited by means of a sequence of functionals approximating the unknown state of the system on a given bounded time interval. More assumptions guarantee solvability of the state estimation problem by means of a hybrid observer.

Observer design for triangular systems under weak observability assumptions

This paper presents results on the solvability of the observer design problem for general nonlinear triangular systems with inputs, under weak observability assumptions. The local state estimation is exhibited by means of a delayed time-varying Luenberger-type system. In order to achieve the global estimation, a switching sequence of observers is designed.

Sufficient Lie Algebraic Conditions for Sampled-Data Feedback Stabilizability of Affine in the Control Nonlinear Systems

For general nonlinear autonomous systems, a Lyapunov characterization for the possibility of semi-global asymptotic stabilizability by means of a time-varying sampled-data feedback is established. We exploit this result in order to derive a Lie algebraic sufficient condition for sampled-data feedback semi-global stabilizability of affine in the control nonlinear systems with non-zero drift terms. The corresponding proposition constitutes an extension of the "Artstein-Sontag" theorem on feedback stabilization.

Observer Design for a General Class of Nonlinear Systems

The paper deals with the observer design problem for a wide class of triangular nonlinear time-varying systems. The results of the present work generalize previous results in the literature dealing with the observer design problem for triangular systems and particularly, constitute generalizations of those obtained in a recent authors work concerning a class of triangular systems, whose dynamics have p-normal form.

Control Lyapunov Functions and Stabilization by Means of Continuous Time-Varying Feedback

For a general time-varying system, we prove that existence of an "Output Robust Control Lyapunov Function" implies existence of continuous time-varying feedback stabilizer, which guarantees output asymptotic stability with respect to the resulting closed-loop system. The main results of the present work constitute generalizations of a well-known result towards feedback stabilization due to J. M. Coron and L. Rosier concerning stabilization of autonomous systems by means of time-varying periodic feedback.
