Cohomology of solvable saturable pro-$p$ groups and Lie algebras

Let $p$ be an odd prime, and let $n\in \N$ be an integer. We show that the $n^{\text{th}}$ mod-$p$ cohomology of a solvable saturable pro-$p$ group is isomorphic to the $n^{\text{th}}$ mod-$p$ cohomology of its associated $\Z_p$-Lie algebra $\g$ as a $\F_p$-vector space. Addittonally, we obtain that the $n^{\text{th}}$ mod-$p$ cohomology of $\g$ and of $\g/p\g$ are isomorphic as $\F_p$-vector spaces.

Standard Hausdorff spectrum of compact $\mathbb{F}_p[[t]]$-analytic groups

We prove that the $\mathbb{F}_p[[t]]$-standard Hausdorff spectrum of a compact $\mathbb{F}_p[[t]]$-analytic group contains a real interval and that it coincides with the full unit interval when the group is soluble. Moreover, we show that the $\mathbb{F}_p[[t]]$-standard Hausdorff spectrum of classical Chevalley groups over $\mathbb{F}_p[[t]]$ is not full, since 1 is an isolated point thereof.

A family of finite p-groups satisfying Carlson's conjecture

Let p>3 be a prime number and let r be an integer with 1<r<p-1. For each r, let moreover G_r denote the unique quotient of the maximal class pro-p group of size p^{r+1}. We show that the mod-p cohomology ring of G_r has depth one and that, in turn, it satisfies the equalities in Carlson's depth conjecture [3].

Cohomology of finite p-groups of fixed nilpotency class

Let p be a prime number and let c, d be natural numbers. Then, the number of possible isomorphism types for the mod p cohomology algebra of a d-generated finite p-group of nilpotency class c is bounded by a function depending only on p, c and d.

Cohomology of p-groups of nil potency class smaller than p

Let $p$ be a prime number, let $d$ be an integer and let $G$ be a $d$-generated finite $p$-group of nilpotency class smaller than $p$. Then the number of possible isomorphism types for the mod $p$ cohomology algebra $H^*(G;{\mathbb F}_p)$ is bounded in terms of $p$ and $d$.

A cohomological criterion for $p$-solvability

Let $G$ be a finite group, $p$ a prime and $P$ a Sylow $p$-subgroup of $G$. In this note we give a cohomological criterion for the $p$-solvability of $G$ depending on the cohomology in degree $1$ with coefficients in $\mathbb F_p$ of both the normal subgroups of $G$ and $P$. As a byproduct we bound the minimal number of quotients of order a power of $p$ appearing in any normal series of $G$ by the number of generators of $P$.

Hausdorff dimension in $R$-analytic profinite groups

We study the Hausdorff dimension of R-analytic subgroups in an R-analytic profinite group, where R is a pro-p ring whose asso- ciated graded ring is an integral domain. In particular, we prove that the set of such Hausdorff dimensions is a finite subset of the rational numbers.

Analytic pro-p groups of small dimensions

According to Lazard, every p-adic Lie group contains an open pro-p subgroup which is saturable. This can be regarded as the starting point of p-adic Lie theory, as one can naturally associate to every saturable pro-p group G a Lie lattice L(G) over the p-adic integers. Essential features of saturable pro-p groups include that they are torsion-free and p-adic analytic. In the present paper we prove a converse result in small dimensions: every torsion-free p-adic analytic pro-p group of dimension less than p is saturable. This leads to useful consequences and interesting questions. For instance, we give an effective classification of 3-dimensional soluble torsion-free p-adic analytic pro-p groups for p > 3. Our approach via Lie theory is comparable with the use of Lazard's correspondence in the classification of finite p-groups of small order.
