Simple Whittaker modules over free bosonic orbifold vertex operator algebras

We construct weak (i.e. non-graded) modules over the vertex operator algebra $M(1)^+$, which is the fixed-point subalgebra of the higher rank free bosonic (Heisenberg) vertex operator algebra with respect to the $-1$ automorphism. These weak modules are constructed from Whittaker modules for the higher rank Heisenberg algebra. We prove that the modules are simple as weak modules over $M(1)^+$ and calculate their Whittaker type when regarded as modules for the Virasoro Lie algebra. Lastly, we show that any Whittaker module for the Virasoro Lie algebra occurs in this way. These results are a higher rank generalization of some results by Tanabe.

Principal Galois orders and Gelfand-Zeitlin modules

We show that the ring of invariants in a skew monoid ring contains a so called standard Galois order. Any Galois ring contained in the standard Galois order is automatically itself a Galois order and we call such rings principal Galois orders. We give two applications. First, we obtain a simple sufficient criterion for a Galois ring to be a Galois order and hence for its Gelfand-Zeitlin subalgebra to be maximal commutative. Second, generalizing a recent result by Early-Mazorchuk-Vishnyakova, we construct canonical simple Gelfand-Zeitlin modules over any principal Galois order. As an example, we introduce the notion of a rational Galois order, attached an arbitrary finite reflection group and a set of rational difference operators, and show that they are principal Galois orders. Building on results by Futorny-Molev-Ovsienko, we show that parabolic subalgebras of finite W-algebras are rational Galois orders. Similarly we show that Mazorchuk's orthogonal Gelfand-Zeitlin algebras of type $A$, and their parabolic subalgebras, are rational Galois orders. Consequently we produce canonical simple Gelfand-Zeitlin modules for these algebras and prove that their Gelfand-Zeitlin subalgebras are maximal commutative. Lastly, we show that quantum OGZ algebras, previously defined by the author, and their parabolic subalgebras, are principal Galois orders. This in particular proves the long-standing Mazorchuk-Turowska conjecture that, if $q$ is not a root of unity, the Gelfand-Zeitlin subalgebra of $U_q(\mathfrak{gl}_n)$ is maximal commutative and that its Gelfand-Zeitlin fibers are non-empty and (by Futorny-Ovsienko theory) finite.

Unitarizability of weight modules over noncommutative Kleinian fiber products

For any $(m,n)$-periodic higher spin six-vertex configuration $\mathscr{L}$, we construct a one-parameter family $Δ_ξ$ of pseudo-unitarizable representations of the corresponding noncommutative fiber product $\mathcal{A}(\mathscr{L})$ by difference operators acting on the space of sections of a complex line bundle $L_ξ$ over the face lattice $F$. The indefinite inner product is given explicitly in terms of a combinatorial sign function defined on $F$. We prove that each simple integral weight $\mathcal{A}(\mathscr{L})$-module (previously classified by the author, see arXiv:1612.08125) occurs as a submodule in one of these representation spaces. Lastly we give a combinatorial description of the signature of the unique (up to nonzero real multiples) indefinite inner product on any simple integral weight module, in terms of certain eight-vertex configurations canonically attached to $\mathscr{L}$. In particular we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for such a module to be unitarizable.

Noncommutative fiber products and lattice models

We establish a connection between the representation theory of certain noncommutative singular varieties and two-dimensional lattice models. Specifically, we consider noncommutative biparametric deformations of the fiber product of two Kleinian singularities of type $A$. Special examples are closely related to Lie-Heisenberg algebras, the affine Lie algebra $A_1^{(1)}$, and a finite W-algebra associated to $\mathfrak{sl}_4$. The algebras depend on two scalars and two polynomials that must satisfy the Mazorchuk-Turowska Equation (MTE), which we re-interpret as a quantization of the ice rule (local current conservation) in statistical mechanics. Solutions to the MTE, previously classified by the author and D. Rosso, can accordingly be expressed in terms of multisets of higher spin vertex configurations on a twisted cylinder. We first reduce the problem of describing the category of weight modules to the case of a single configuration $\mathscr{L}$. Secondly, we classify all simple weight modules over the corresponding algebras $\mathcal{A}(\mathscr{L})$, in terms of the connected components of the cylinder minus $\mathscr{L}$. Lastly, we prove that $\mathcal{A}(\mathscr{L})$ are crystalline graded rings (as defined by Nauwelaerts and Van Oystaeyen), and describe the center of $\mathcal{A}(\mathscr{L})$ explicitly in terms of $\mathscr{L}$. Along the way we prove several new results about twisted generalized Weyl algebras and their simple weight modules.

The $q$-difference Noether problem for complex reflection groups and quantum OGZ algebras

For any complex reflection group $G=G(m,p,n)$, we prove that the $G$-invariants of the division ring of fractions of the $n$:th tensor power of the quantum plane is a quantum Weyl field and give explicit parameters for this quantum Weyl field. This shows that the $q$-Difference Noether Problem has a positive solution for such groups, generalizing previous work by Futorny and the author. Moreover, the new result is simultaneously a $q$-deformation of the classical commutative case, and of the Weyl algebra case recently obtained by Eshmatov et al. Secondly, we introduce a new family of algebras called quantum OGZ algebras. They are natural quantizations of the OGZ algebras introduced by Mazorchuk originating in the classical Gelfand-Tsetlin formulas. Special cases of quantum OGZ algebras include the quantized enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ and quantized Heisenberg algebras. We show that any quantum OGZ algebra can be naturally realized as a Galois ring in the sense of Futorny-Ovsienko, with symmetry group being a direct product of complex reflection groups $G(m,p,r_k)$. Finally, using these results we prove that the quantum OGZ algebras satisfy the quantum Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture by explicitly computing their division ring of fractions.

Cylindrical Dyck paths and the Mazorchuk-Turowska equation

We classify all solutions (p,q) to the equation p(u)q(u)=p(u+b)q(u+a) where p and q are complex polynomials in one indeterminate u, and a and b are fixed but arbitrary complex numbers. This equation is a special case of a system of equations which ensures that certain algebras defined by generators and relations are non-trivial. We first give a necessary condition for the existence of non-trivial solutions to the equation. Then, under this condition, we use combinatorics of generalized Dyck paths to describe all solutions and a canonical way to factor each solution into a product of irreducible solutions.

Twisted generalized Weyl algebras and primitive quotients of enveloping algebras

To each multiquiver $Γ$ we attach a solution to the consistency equations associated to twisted generalized Weyl (TGW) algebras. This generalizes several previously obtained solutions in the literature. We show that the corresponding algebras $\mathcal{A}(Γ)$ carry a canonical representation by differential operators and that $\mathcal{A}(Γ)$ is universal among all TGW algebras with such a representation. We also find explicit conditions in terms of $Γ$ for when this representation is faithful or locally surjective. By forgetting some of the structure of $Γ$ one obtains a Dynkin diagram, $D(Γ)$. We show that the generalized Cartan matrix of $\mathcal{A}(Γ)$ coincides with the one corresponding to $D(Γ)$ and that $\mathcal{A}(Γ)$ contains graded homomorphic images of the enveloping algebra of the positive and negative part of the corresponding Kac-Moody algebra. Finally, we show that a primitive quotient $U/J$ of the enveloping algebra of a finite-dimensional simple Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero is graded isomorphic to a TGW algebra if and only if $J$ is the annihilator of a completely pointed (multiplicity-free) simple weight module. The infinite-dimensional primitive quotients in types $A$ and $C$ are closely related to $\mathcal{A}(Γ)$ for specific $Γ$. We also prove one result in the affine case.

Extended trigonometric Cherednik algebras and nonstationary Schrödinger equations with delta-potentials

We realize an extended version of the trigonometric Cherednik algebra as affine Dunkl operators involving Heaviside functions. We use the quadratic Casimir element of the extended trigonometric Cherednik algebra to define an explicit nonstationary Schrödinger equation with delta-potential. We use coordinate Bethe ansatz methods to construct solutions of the nonstationary Schrödinger equation in terms of generalized Bethe wave functions. It is shown that the generalized Bethe wave functions satisfy affine difference Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations in their spectral parameter. The relation to the vector valued root system analogs of the quantum Bose gas on the circle with pairwise delta-function interactions is indicated.

Solution of a q-difference Noether problem and the quantum Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture for gl_N

It is shown that the q-difference Noether problem for all classical Weyl groups has a positive solution, simultaneously generalizing well known results on multisymmetric functions of Mattuck and Miyata in the case q=1, and q-deforming the noncommutative Noether problem for the symmetric group. It is also shown that the quantum Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture for gl_N (for a generic q) follows from the positive solution of the q-difference Noether problem for the Weyl group of type D_n. The proof is based on the theory of Galois rings developed by the first author and Ovsienko. From here we obtain a new proof of the quantum Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture for sl_N, thus recovering the result of Fauquant-Millet. Moreover, we provide an explicit description of skew fields of fractions for quantized gl_N and sl_N generalizing Alev and Dumas.

On the Consistency of Twisted Generalized Weyl Algebras

A twisted generalized Weyl algebra A of degree n depends on a base algebra R, n commuting automorphisms s_i of R, n central elements t_i of R and on some additional scalar parameters. In a paper by V.Mazorchuk and L.Turowska (1999) it is claimed that certain consistency conditions for s_i and t_i are sufficient for the algebra to be nontrivial. However, in this paper we give an example which shows that this is false. We also correct the statement by finding a new set of consistency conditions and prove that the old and new conditions together are necessary and sufficient for the base algebra R to map injectively into A. In particular they are sufficient for the algebra A to be nontrivial. We speculate that these consistency relations may play a role in other areas of mathematics, analogous to the role played by the Yang-Baxter equation in the theory of integrable systems.

Multiparameter Twisted Weyl Algebras

We introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's q-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction. We classify all simple weight modules over any multiparameter twisted Weyl algebra. Extending results by Benkart and Ondrus, we also describe all Whittaker pairs up to isomorphism over a class of twisted generalized Weyl algebras which includes the multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras.

Twisted Weyl algebras, crossed products, and representations

We prove that any twisted generalized Weyl algebra satisfying certain consistency conditions can be embedded into a crossed product. We also introduce a new family of twisted generalized Weyl algebras, called multiparameter twisted Weyl algebras, for which we parametrize all simple quotients of a certain kind. Both Jordan's simple localization of the multiparameter quantized Weyl algebra and Hayashi's $q$-analog of the Weyl algebra are special cases of this construction.

Pseudo-unitarizable weight modules over generalized Weyl algebras

We define a notion of pseudo-unitarizability for weight modules over a generalized Weyl algebra (of rank one, with commutative coeffiecient ring $R$), which is assumed to carry an involution of the form $X^*=Y$, $R^*\subseteq R$. We prove that a weight module $V$ is pseudo-unitarizable iff it is isomorphic to its finitistic dual $V^\sharp$. Using the classification of weight modules by Drozd, Guzner and Ovsienko, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for an indecomposable weight module to be isomorphic to its finitistic dual, and thus to be pseudo-unitarizable. Some examples are given, including $U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)$ for $q$ a root of unity.

Simplicity and maximal commutative subalgebras of twisted generalized Weyl algebras

In this paper we show that each non-zero ideal of a twisted generalized Weyl algebra (TGWA) $A$ intersects the centralizer of the distinguished subalgebra $R$ in $A$ non-trivially. We also provide a necessary and sufficient condition for the centralizer of $R$ in $A$ to be commutative, and give examples of TGWAs associated to symmetric Cartan matrices satisfying this condition. By imposing a certain finiteness condition on $R$ (weaker than Noetherianity) we are able to make an Ore localization which turns out to be useful when investigating simplicity of the TGWA. Under this mild assumption we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the simplicity of TGWAs. We describe how this is related to maximal commutativity of $R$ in $A$ and the (non-) existence of non-trivial $\Z^n$-invariant ideals of $R$. Our result is a generalization of the rank one case, obtained by D. A. Jordan in 1993. We illustrate our theorems by considering some special classes of TGWAs and providing concrete examples.

Twisted generalized Weyl algebras, polynomial Cartan matrices and Serre-type relations

Twisted generalized Weyl algebras (TGWAs) are defined as the quotient of a certain graded algebra by the maximal graded ideal I with trivial zero component, analogous to how Kac-Moody algebras can be defined. In this paper we introduce the class of locally finite TGWAs, and show that one can associate to such an algebra a polynomial Cartan matrix (a notion extending the usual generalized Cartan matrices appearing in Kac-Moody algebra theory) and that the corresponding generalized Serre relations hold in the TGWA. We also give an explicit construction of a family of locally finite TGWAs depending on a symmetric generalized Cartan matrix C and some scalars. The polynomial Cartan matrix of an algebra in this family may be regarded as a deformation of the original matrix C and gives rise to quantum Serre relations in the TGWA. We conjecture that these relations generate the graded ideal I for these algebras, and prove it in type A_2.

The elliptic GL(n) dynamical quantum group as an h-Hopf algebroid

Using the language of h-Hopf algebroids which was introduced by Etingof and Varchenko, we construct a dynamical quantum group, F_ell(GL(n)), from the elliptic solution of the quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter equation with spectral parameter associated to the Lie algebra sl_n. We apply the generalized FRST construction and obtain an h-bialgebroid F_ell(M(n)). Natural analogs of the exterior algebra and their matrix elements, elliptic minors, are defined and studied. We show how to use the cobraiding to prove that the elliptic determinant is central. Localizing at this determinant and constructing an antipode we obtain the h-Hopf algebroid F_ell(GL(n)).

Hopf Structures on Ambiskew Polynomial Rings

We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for an ambiskew polynomial ring to have a Hopf algebra structure of a certain type. This construction generalizes many known Hopf algebras, for example U(sl2), U_q(sl2) and the enveloping algebra of the 3-dimensional Heisenberg Lie algebra. In a torsion-free case we describe the finite-dimensional simple modules, in particular their dimensions and prove a Clebsch-Gordan decomposition theorem for the tensor product of two simple modules. We construct a Casimir type operator and prove that any finite-dimensional weight module is semisimple.
