Invariant Classification and Limits of Maximally Superintegrable Systems in 3D

The invariant classification of superintegrable systems is reviewed and utilized to construct singular limits between the systems. It is shown, by construction, that all superintegrable systems on conformally flat, 3D complex Riemannian manifolds can be obtained from singular limits of a generic system on the sphere. By using the invariant classification, the limits are geometrically motivated in terms of transformations of roots of the classifying polynomials.

A Recurrence Relation Approach to Higher Order Quantum Superintegrability

We develop our method to prove quantum superintegrability of an integrable 2D system, based on recurrence relations obeyed by the eigenfunctions of the system with respect to separable coordinates. We show that the method provides rigorous proofs of superintegrability and explicit constructions of higher order generators for the symmetry algebra. We apply the method to 5 families of systems, each depending on a parameter $k$, including most notably the caged anisotropic oscillator, the Tremblay, Turbiner and Winternitz system and a deformed Kepler-Coulomb system, and we give proofs of quantum superintegrability for all rational values of $k$, new for 4 of these systems. In addition, we show that the explicit information supplied by the special function recurrence relations allows us to prove, for the first time in 4 cases, that the symmetry algebra generated by our lowest order symmetries closes and to determine the associated structure equations of the algebras for each $k$. We have no proof that our generating symmetries are of lowest possible order, but we have no counterexamples, and we are confident we can can always find any missing generators from our raising and lowering operator recurrences. We also get for free, one variable models of the action of the symmetry algebra in terms of difference operators. We describe how the Stäckel transform acts and show that it preserves the structure equations.

Tools for Verifying Classical and Quantum Superintegrability

Recently many new classes of integrable systems in n dimensions occurring in classical and quantum mechanics have been shown to admit a functionally independent set of 2n-1 symmetries polynomial in the canonical momenta, so that they are in fact superintegrable. These newly discovered systems are all separable in some coordinate system and, typically, they depend on one or more parameters in such a way that the system is superintegrable exactly when some of the parameters are rational numbers. Most of the constructions to date are for n=2 but cases where n>2 are multiplying rapidly. In this article we organize a large class of such systems, many new, and emphasize the underlying mechanisms which enable this phenomena to occur and to prove superintegrability. In addition to proofs of classical superintegrability we show that the 2D caged anisotropic oscillator and a Stackel transformed version on the 2-sheet hyperboloid are quantum superintegrable for all rational relative frequencies, and that a deformed 2D Kepler-Coulomb system is quantum superintegrable for all rational values of a parameter k in the potential.

Structure Theory for Second Order 2D Superintegrable Systems with 1-Parameter Potentials

The structure theory for the quadratic algebra generated by first and second order constants of the motion for 2D second order superintegrable systems with nondegenerate (3-parameter) and or 2-parameter potentials is well understood, but the results for the strictly 1-parameter case have been incomplete. Here we work out this structure theory and prove that the quadratic algebra generated by first and second order constants of the motion for systems with 4 second order constants of the motion must close at order three with the functional relationship between the 4 generators of order four. We also show that every 1-parameter superintegrable system is Stäckel equivalent to a system on a constant curvature space.
