Tensor Triangular Geometry for Classical Lie Superalgebras

Tensor triangular geometry as introduced by Balmer is a powerful idea which can be used to extract the ambient geometry from a given tensor triangulated category. In this paper we provide a general setting for a compactly generated tensor triangulated category which enables one to classify thick tensor ideals and the Balmer spectrum. For a classical Lie superalgebra ${\mathfrak g}={\mathfrak g}_{\bar{0}}\oplus {\mathfrak g}_{\bar{1}}$, we construct a Zariski space from a detecting subalgebra of ${\mathfrak g}$ and demonstrate that this topological space governs the tensor triangular geometry for the category of finite dimensional ${\mathfrak g}$-modules which are semisimple over ${\mathfrak g}_{\bar{0}}$.

On the cohomological spectrum and support varieties for infinitesimal unipotent supergroup schemes

We show that if $G$ is an infinitesimal elementary supergroup scheme of height $\leq r$, then the cohomological spectrum $|G|$ of $G$ is naturally homeomorphic to the variety $\mathcal{N}_r(G)$ of supergroup homomorphisms $ρ: \mathbb{M}_r \rightarrow G$ from a certain (non-algebraic) affine supergroup scheme $\mathbb{M}_r$ into $G$. In the case $r=1$, we further identify the cohomological support variety of a finite-dimensional $G$-supermodule $M$ as a subset of $\mathcal{N}_1(G)$. We then discuss how our methods, when combined with recently-announced results by Benson, Iyengar, Krause, and Pevtsova, can be applied to extend the homeomorphism $\mathcal{N}_r(G) \cong |G|$ to arbitrary infinitesimal unipotent supergroup schemes.

Graded analogues of one-parameter subgroups and applications to the cohomology of $GL_{m|n(r)}$

We introduce a family $\mathbb{M}_{r;f,η}$ of infinitesimal supergroup schemes, which we call multiparameter supergroups, that generalize the infinitesimal Frobenius kernels $\mathbb{G}_{a(r)}$ of the additive group scheme $\mathbb{G}_{a}$. Then, following the approach of Suslin, Friedlander, and Bendel, we use functor cohomology to define characteristic extension classes for the general linear supergroup $GL_{m|n}$, and we calculate how these classes restrict along homomorphisms $ρ: \mathbb{M}_{r;f,η} \rightarrow GL_{m|n}.$ Finally, we apply our calculations to describe (up to a finite surjective morphism) the spectrum of the cohomology ring of the $r$-th Frobenius kernel $GL_{m|n(r)}$ of the general linear supergroup $GL_{m|n}$.

A basis theorem for the degenerate affine oriented Brauer-Clifford supercategory

We introduce the oriented Brauer-Clifford and degenerate affine oriented Brauer-Clifford supercategories. These are diagrammatically defined monoidal supercategories which provide combinatorial models for certain natural monoidal supercategories of supermodules and endosuperfunctors, respectively, for the Lie superalgebras of type Q. Our main results are basis theorems for these diagram supercategories. We also discuss connections and applications to the representation theory of the Lie superalgebra of type Q.

Webs of type Q

We introduce web supercategories of type Q. We describe the structure of these categories and show they have a symmetric braiding. The main result of the paper shows these diagrammatically defined monoidal supercategories provide combinatorial models for the monoidal supercategories generated by the supersymmetric tensor powers of the natural supermodule for the Lie superalgebra of type Q.

On support varieties for Lie superalgebras and finite supergroup schemes

We study the spectrum of the cohomology rings of cocommutative Hopf superalgebras, restricted and non-restricted Lie superalgebras, and finite supergroup schemes. We also investigate support varieties in these settings and demonstrate that they have the desirable properties of such a theory. We completely characterize support varieties for finite supergroup schemes over algebraically closed fields of characteristic zero, while for non-restricted Lie superalgebras we obtain results in positive characteristic that are strikingly similar to results of Duflo and Serganova in characteristic zero. Our computations for restricted Lie superalgebras and infinitesimal supergroup schemes provide natural generalizations of foundational results of Friedlander and Parshall and of Bendel, Friedlander, and Suslin in the classical setting.

The marked Brauer category

We introduce the marked Brauer algebra and the marked Brauer category. These generalize the analogous constructions for the ordinary Brauer algebra to the setting of a homogeneous bilinear form on a $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded vector space. We classify the simple modules of the marked Brauer algebra over any field of characteristic not two. Under suitable assumptions we show that the marked Brauer algebra is in Schur-Weyl duality with the Lie superalgebra, $\mathfrak{g}$, of linear maps which leave the bilinear form invariant. We also provide a classification of the indecomposable summands of the tensor powers of the natural representation for $\mathfrak{g}$ under those same assumptions. In particular, our results generalize Moon's work on the Lie superalgebra of type $\mathfrak{p}(n)$ and provide a unifying conceptual explanation for his results.

Presenting Schur superalgebras

We provide a presentation of the Schur superalgebra and its quantum analogue which generalizes the work of Doty and Giaquinto for Schur algebras. Our results include a basis for these algebras and a presentation using weight idempotents in the spirit of Lusztig's modified quantum groups.

Complexity for Modules Over the Classical Lie Superalgebra gl(m|n)

Let $\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{g}_{\bar{0}}\oplus \mathfrak{g}_{\bar{1}}$ be a classical Lie superalgebra and $\mathcal{F}$ be the category of finite dimensional $\mathfrak{g}$-supermodules which are completely reducible over the reductive Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_{\bar{0}}$. In an earlier paper the authors demonstrated that for any module $M$ in $\mathcal{F}$ the rate of growth of the minimal projective resolution (i.e., the complexity of $M$) is bounded by the dimension of $\mathfrak{g}_{\bar{1}}$. In this paper we compute the complexity of the simple modules and the Kac modules for the Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$. In both cases we show that the complexity is related to the atypicality of the block containing the module.

Modified Traces on Deligne's Category Rep(S_{t})

Deligne has defined a category which interpolates among the representations of the various symmetric groups. In this paper we show Deligne's category admits a unique nontrivial family of modified trace functions. Such modified trace functions have already proven to be interesting in both low-dimensional topology and representation theory. We also introduce a graded variant of Deligne's category, lift the modified trace functions to the graded setting, and use them to recover the well-known invariant of framed knots known as the writhe.

Complexity and module varieties for classical Lie superalgebras

Let g=g_{0} \oplus g_{1} be a classical Lie superalgebra and F be the category of finite dimensional g-supermodules which are semisimple over g_{0}. In this paper we investigate the homological properties of the category F. In particular we prove that F is self-injective in the sense that all projective supermodules are injective. We also show that all supermodules in F admit a projective resolution with polynomial rate of growth and, hence, one can study complexity in F. If g is a Type I Lie superalgebra we introduce support varieties which detect projectivity and are related to the associated varieties of Duflo and Serganova. If in addition g has a (strong) duality then we prove that the conditions of being tilting or projective are equivalent.

Cohomology and Support Varieties for Lie Superalgebras of Type W(n)

Boe, Kujawa and Nakano recently investigated relative cohomology for classical Lie superalgebras and developed a theory of support varieties. The dimensions of these support varieties give a geometric interpretation of the combinatorial notions of defect and atypicality due to Kac, Wakimoto, and Serganova. In this paper we calculate the cohomology ring of the Cartan type Lie superalgebra W(n) relative to the degree zero component W(n)_{0} and show that this ring is a finitely generated polynomial ring. This allows one to define support varieties for finite dimensional W(n)-supermodules which are completely reducible over W(n)_{0}. We calculate the support varieties of all simple supermodules in this category. Remarkably our computations coincide with the prior notion of atypicality for Cartan type superalgebras due to Serganova. We also present new results on the realizability of support varieties which hold for both classical and Cartan type superalgebras.

Cohomology and Support Varieties for Lie Superalgebras II

In \cite{BKN} the authors initiated a study of the representation theory of classical Lie superalgebras via a cohomological approach. Detecting subalgebras were constructed and a theory of support varieties was developed. The dimension of a detecting subalgebra coincides with the defect of the Lie superalgebra and the dimension of the support variety for a simple supermodule was conjectured to equal the atypicality of the supermodule. In this paper the authors compute the support varieties for Kac supermodules for Type I Lie superalgebras and the simple supermodules for $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$. The latter result verifies our earlier conjecture for $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$. In our investigation we also delineate several of the major differences between Type I versus Type II classical Lie superalgebras. Finally, the connection between atypicality, defect and superdimension is made more precise by using the theory of support varieties and representations of Clifford superalgebras.

Cohomology and Support Varieties for Lie Superalgebras

We study cohomology for classical Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{g}$ (e.g. gl(m|n)) over the complex numbers. Using results from invariant theory, we show that there exist subsuperalgebras which detect the cohomology of $\mathfrak{g}.$ Furthermore, drawing inspiration from finite groups and restricted Lie algebras, we introduce the notion of support varieties in this context. One can prove these varieties have many of the desirable properties of such a theory. They also appear to provide new interpretations for certain combinatorics associated with Lie superalgebras.
