Higher order logarithms of Bessel operators and an extension problem

We consider the Bessel operator defined by \[ B_λ=-\frac{d^2}{dx^2}+\frac{λ^2-1/4}{x^2}, \] on $(0,\infty)$, with $λ>-1$. We study the fractional power $B_λ^s$, $s\in (-1,1)$, $s\neq 0$, and the logarithm $\log^kB_λ$, $k\in \mathbb N$, of $B_λ$. We obtain pointwise representations of these operators and asymptotic Taylor expansions of the operators $B_λ^s$ in terms of logarithmic operators $\log^kB_λ$. We also obtain $\log B_λ$ as the solution of an extension problem.

The logarithmic $p$-Laplacian on hyperbolic spaces

In this paper, the logarithmic $p$-Laplacian operator $\log (-Δ_{\mathbb H ^n})_p$ on the hyperbolic space $\mathbb H^n$, with $n\geq 2$, is introduced. We prove that if $f$ is a locally Lipschitz function of exponent $α\in (0,1)$ with compact support in $\mathbb H^n$, then, for a suitable constant $A_{n,p}>0$, $$ \lim_{s\rightarrow 0^+}(-Δ_{\mathbb H ^n})_p^sf(x)=A_{n,p}|f(x)|^{p-2}f(x),\quad x\in \mathbb H^n, $$ where $(-Δ_{\mathbb H ^n})_p^s$ denotes the $s$-fractional $p$-Laplacian on $\mathbb H^n$. We establish a pointwise integral representation for the operator $\log (-Δ_{\mathbb H ^n})_p=\frac{d}{ds}(-Δ_{\mathbb H^n})_p^s\,_{|s=0}$. Furthermore, we show that $\log (-Δ_{\mathbb H ^n})_p$ can be realized as the solution of a suitable extension problem and provide an extension theorem that yields the operator $\log (-Δ)_p$ in $\mathbb R^n$. To the best of our knowledge, this property has not been established for the Euclidean logarithmic $p$-Laplacian $\log (-Δ)_p$.

On $m$-order logarithmic Schrödinger operator

In this paper we study the logarithm of order $m$ of the Schrödinger operator $\mathcal L_V$ in $\mathbb R^d$, for certain nonnegative potentials $V$. First, the operator $\log^m\mathcal L_V$, $m\in \mathbb N$, is defined by using the spectral measure associated with the self-adjoint operator $\mathcal L_V$ on a suitable subspace of $L^2(\mathbb R^d)$. Then, the semigroup of operators $\{T_t^V\}_{t>0}$ generated by $\mathcal L_V$ allows us to extend the definition of $\log^m\mathcal L_V$ to a wider class of Lipschitz functions. By using logarithmic operators $\log^m\mathcal L_V$, $m\in \mathbb N$, we prove Taylor expansions for the fractional powers $\mathcal L_V^s$ and $\mathcal L_V^{-s}$ with respect to the order $s\in (0,1)$, where the convergence is understood in $L^p(\mathbb R^d)$, $1<p<\infty$.

Extension theorems for logarithmic Schrödinger and discrete Laplacian operators

In this paper we consider logarithmic operators in two different contexts: the adapted to (continuous) Schrödinger operators and the classical discrete setting. The Schrödinger operator $\mathcal L_V$ on $\mathbb R^d$ is defined as $\mathcal L_V=-Δ+V$, where the potential $V$ is nonnegative and satisfies a reverse Hölder inequality and, as usual, $Δ$ denotes the Euclidean Laplacian, while the discrete Laplacian $Δ_d$ on $\mathbb Z$ is given by $(Δ_df)(n)=f(n+1)-2f(n)+f(n-1)$, $n\in \mathbb Z$. Both logarithmic operators $\log \mathcal L_V$ and $\log (-Δ_d)$ are nonlocal operators and we will define them through suitable extension problems. The extension problems for logarithmic operators are inspired by the one introduced by Caffarelli and Silvestre for the fractional Laplacian but, in this case, the logarithmic operators are obtained as the boundary values of the extension in a more involved way.

Logarithmic Schrödinger operators

In this paper we consider the Schrödinger operator $\mathcal L_V= -Δ+ V$ in $\mathbb R^d$ with a non negative potential $V$, and $V\not\equiv 0$. We define the logarithmic Schrödinger operator $\log \mathcal L_V$ proving its main properties. We obtain a pointwise representation of $\log \mathcal L_V$ when $V$ satisfies a reverse Hölder inequality of exponent $q> \frac{d}{2}$ by using the semigroup of operators $\{T_t^V\}_{t>0}$ generated by $\mathcal L_V$. We consider the Lipschitz function space adapted to the Schrödinger setting to solve the initial value problem \[ \begin{cases} \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}=-(\log \mathcal{L}_V)u, & \text{in } \mathbb{R}^n \times (0,\infty), \\ u(x,0)=f(x), & x \in \mathbb{R}^d \end{cases} \] in terms of the fractional integral associated with $\mathcal L_V$.

Variational inequalities associated with the semigroups generated by fractional Kolmogorov operators

In this paper we consider fractional Kolmogorov operators defined, in $\mathbb{R}^d$, by \[Λ_κ=(-Δ)^{α/2}+\fracκ{|x|^α} x\cdot \nabla,\] with $α\in (1,2)$, $α<(d+2)/2$ and $κ\in \mathbb{R}$. The operator $Λ_α$ generates a holomorphic semigroup $\{T_t^α\}_{t>0}$ in $L^2(\mathbb{R}^d)$ provided that $κ<κ_c$ where $κ_c$ is a critical coupling constant. We establish $L^p$-boundedness properties for the variation operators $V_ρ\left(\{t^\ell\partial_t^\ell T_t^α\}_{t>0}\right)$ with $ρ> 2$, $\ell\in \mathbb{N}$ and $1\vee \frac{d}β 0})$ is not bounded from $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d)$ to $L^{p,\infty}(\mathbb{R}^d)$ for any $1< p<\infty$.

Gaussian $\text{JN}_p$ spaces

In this paper we introduce the John-Nirenberg's type spaces $\text{JN}_p$ associated with the Gaussian measure $dγ(x) = π^{-d/2}e^{-|x|^2}dx$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ where $1<p<\infty$. We prove a John-Nirenberg inequality for $\text{JN}_p(\mathbb{R}^d,γ)$. We also characterize the predual of $\text{JN}_p(\mathbb{R}^d,γ)$ as a Hardy type space.

$L^p$-boundedness properties for some harmonic analysis operators defined by resolvents for a Laplacian with drift in Euclidean spaces

We consider the Laplacian with drift in $\mathbb R^n$ defined by $Δ_ν= \sum_{i=1}^n(\frac{\partial^2}{\partial x_i^2} + 2 ν_i\frac{\partial }{\partial{x_i}})$ where $ν=(ν_1,\ldots,ν_n)\in \mathbb R^n\setminus\{0\}$. The operator $Δ_ν$ is selfadjoint with respect to the measure $dμ_ν(x)=e^{2\langleν,x\rangle}dx$. This measure is not doubling but it is locally doubling in $\mathbb R^n$. We define, for every $M>0$ and $k \in \mathbb N$, the operators $$ W^k_{ν,M,*}(f) = \sup_{t>0}\left|A^k_{ν,M,t}(f)\right|,\hspace{5mm}g_{ν,M}^k(f) = \left(\int_0^\infty\left|A^k_{ν,M,t}(f)\right|^2\frac{dt}{t}\right)^{\frac{1}{2}},\,k\geq 1, $$ the $ρ$-variation operator $$ V_ρ\left( \{A^k_{ν,M,t}\}_{t>0}\right)(f)= \sup_{0 2, $$ and, if $\{t_j\}_{j\in \mathbb N}$ is a decreasing sequence in $(0,\infty)$, the oscillation operator $$ O(\{A_{ν,M,t}^k\}_{t>0},\{t_j\}_{j\in \mathbb N})(f)=\Big(\sum_{j\in \mathbb N}\;\;\sup_{t_{j+1}\leq \varepsilon <\varepsilon '\leq t_j}|A^k_{ν,M,\varepsilon}(f)-A^k_{ν,M,\varepsilon '}(f)|^2 \Big)^{1/2}. $$ where $A^k_{ν,M,t}=t^k\partial^k_t(I-tΔ_ν)^{-M}$, $t>0$. We denote by $T_{ν,M}^k$ any of the above operators. We analyze the boundedness of $T^k_{ν,M}$ on $L^p(\mathbb R^n,μ_ν)$ into itself, for every $1<p<\infty$, and from $L^1(\mathbb R^n,μ_ν)$ into $L^{1,\infty}(\mathbb R^n,μ_ν)$. In addition, we obtain boundedness properties for the operator $G_{ν,M}^{k,\ell}$, $1\leq \ell <2M$, defined by $$ G_{ν,M}^{k,\ell}(f)=\left(\int_0^\infty\left|t^{\ell /2+k}\partial _t^kD^{(\ell)}(I-tΔ_ν)^{-M}(f) \right|^2\frac{dt}{t}\right)^{\frac{1}{2}}, $$ for certain differentiation operator $D^{(\ell)}$.

Variation operators associated with semigroups generated by Hardy operators involving fractional Laplacians in a half space

We represent by $\{W_{λ, t}^α\}_{t>0}$ the semigroup generated by $-\mathbb L^α_λ$, where $\mathbb L^α_λ$ is a Hardy operator on a half space. The operator $\mathbb L^α_λ$ includes a fractional Laplacian and it is defined by \[\mathbb L^α_λ=(-Δ)^{α/2}_{\mathbb{R}^d_+}+λx_d^{-α}, \quad α\in (0,2], λ\geq 0.\] We prove that, for every $k\in \mathbb N$, the $ρ$-variation operator $\mathcal{V}_ρ\left(\left\{t^k\partial_t^k W_{λ,t}^α\right\}\right)$ is bounded on $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d_+, w)$ for each $1<p<\infty$ and $w\in A_p(\mathbb{R}^d_+)$, being $A_p(\mathbb{R}^d_+)$ the Muckenhoupt $p$-class of weights on $\mathbb{R}^d_+$.

Harmonic analysis operators in the rational Dunkl settings

In this paper we study harmonic analysis operators in Dunkl settings associated with finite reflection groups on Euclidean spaces. We consider maximal operators, Littlewood-Paley functions, $ρ$-variation and oscillation operators involving time derivatives of the heat semigroup generated by Dunkl operators. We establish the boundedness properties of these operators in $L^p(\mathbb R^d,ω_\mathfrak K)$, $1\leq p < 1$, Hardy spaces, BMO and BLO-type spaces in the Dunkl settings. The study of harmonic analysis operators associated to reflection groups need different strategies from the ones used in the Euclidean case since the integral kernels of the operators admit estimations involving two different metrics, namely, the Euclidean and the orbit metrics. For instance, the classical Calderón-Zygmund theory for singular integrals does not work in this setting.

The Riesz Transform and Fractional Integral Operators in the Bessel Setting

Fix $λ>0$. Consider the Bessel operator $\triangle_λ:=-\frac{d^2}{dx^2}-\frac{2λ}{x} \frac d{dx}$ on $\mathbb{R_+}$, where $\mathbb{R_+}:=(0,\infty)$ and $dm_λ:=x^{2λ}dx$ with $dx$ the Lebesgue measure. We provide a deeper study of the Bessel Riesz transform and fractional integral operator via the related Besov and Triebel--Lizorkin spaces associated with $\triangle_λ$. Moreover, we investigate some possible characterization of the commutator of fractional integral operator, which was missing in the literature of the Bessel setting.

Variation and oscillation for semigroups associated with discrete Jacobi operators

In this paper we prove weighted $\ell^p$-inequalities for variation and oscillation operators defined by semigroups of operators associated with discrete Jacobi operators. Also, we establish that certain maximal operators involving sums of differences of discrete Jacobi semigroups are bounded on weighted $\ell^p$-spaces. $\ell^p$-boundedness properties for the considered operators provide information about the convergence of the semigroup of operators defining them.

Endpoint estimates for harmonic analysis operators associated with Laguerre polynomial expansions

In this paper we give a criterion to prove boundedness results for several operators from $H^1((0,\infty),γ_α)$ to $L^1((0,\infty),γ_α)$ and also from $L^\infty((0,\infty),γ_α)$ to $\BMO((0,\infty),γ_α)$, with respect to the probability measure $dγ_α(x)=\frac{2}{Γ(α+1)} x^{2α+1} e^{-x^2} dx$ on $(0,\infty)$ when ${α>-\frac12}$. We shall apply it to establish endpoint estimates for Riesz transforms, maximal operators, Littlewood-Paley functions, multipliers of Laplace transform type, fractional integrals and variation operators in the Laguerre setting.

Maximal function characterization of Hardy spaces related to Laguerre polynomial expansions

In this paper we introduce the atomic Hardy space $\mathcal{H}^1((0,\infty),γ_α)$ associated with the non-doubling probability measure $dγ_α(x)=\frac{2x^{2α+1}}{Γ(α+1)}e^{-x^2}dx$ on $(0,\infty)$, for ${α>-\frac12}$. We obtain characterizations of $\mathcal{H}^1((0,\infty),γ_α)$ by using two local maximal functions. We also prove that the truncated maximal function defined through the heat semigroup generated by the Laguerre differential operator is bounded from $\mathcal{H}^1((0,\infty),γ_α)$ into $L^1((0,\infty),γ_α)$.

Littlewood-Paley functions associated with general Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups

In this paper we establish $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d,γ_\infty)$-boundedness properties for square functions involving time and spatial derivatives of Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups. Here $γ_\infty$ denotes the invariant measure. In order to prove the strong type results for $1<p<\infty$ we use $R$-boundedness. The weak type (1,1) property is established by studying separately global and local operators defined for the square Littlewood-Paley functions. By the way we prove $L^p(\mathbb{R}^d,γ_\infty)$-boundedness properties for maximal and variation operators for Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups.

Harmonic analysis operators associated with Laguerre polynomial expansions on variable Lebesgue spaces

In this paper we give sufficient conditions on a measurable function $p:(0,\infty)^n\rightarrow [1,\infty)$ in order that harmonic analysis operators (maximal operators, Riesz transforms, Littlewood--Paley functions and multipliers) associated with $α$-Laguerre polynomial expansions are bounded on the variable Lebesgue space $L^{p(\cdot)} ((0,\infty)^n, μ_α)$, where $dμ_α(x)=2^n\prod_{j=1}^n \frac{x_j^{2α_j+1} e^{-x_j^2}}{Γ(α_j+1)} dx$, being $α=(α_1, \dots, α_n)\in [0,\infty)^n$ and $x=(x_1,\dots,x_n)\in (0,\infty)^n$.

Maximal operator, Littlewood-Paley functions and variation operators associated with nonsymmetric Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators

In this paper we establish $L^p$ boundedness properties for maximal operators, Littlewood-Paley functions and variation operators involving Poisson semigroups and resolvent operators associated with nonsymmetric Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators. We consider the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators defined by the identity as the covariance matrix and having a drift given by the matrix $-λ(I+R)$, being $λ>0$ and $R$ a skew-adjoint matrix. The semigroup associated with these Ornstein-Uhlenbeck operators are the basic building blocks of all normal Ornstein-Uhlenbeck semigroups.
