When to Adapt: Multi-Signal Domain Shift Detection for Efficient Training-Free Adaptation in Open-Vocabulary Segmentation

Robust and reliable perception is essential for autonomous robots operating in real-world environments, particularly in long-term missions where environmental conditions may change significantly over time. Although recent advances in Visual Foundation Models (VFMs) have improved open-vocabulary semantic segmentation, these models can still suffer from domain shift, which can significantly degrade performance if they are not adapted to the current environment. Training-free domain adaptation is a relevant paradigm for adaptation, consisting of adjusting the model online using lightweight adapters. Recent approaches apply this on a per-frame basis, which is impractical for deployments on resource-constrained robotic hardware. To tackle this, we propose a multi-signal domain shift detection method for training-free continual test-time adaptation (TF-CTTA) in open-vocabulary segmentation. Our method leverages temporal coherence across consecutive frames by monitoring and combining complementary aspects of domain shift (visual change, adapter mismatch, and semantic drift) to trigger adaptation only when needed. We validate our approach on a benchmark including indoor and outdoor environments and using real robotic data. We demonstrate that our approach maintains segmentation accuracy while substantially reducing adaptations, making training-free adaptation practical and feasible for long-term, real-world robotic deployments.

The Spectra of Arrangement Graphs

Arrangement graphs were introduced for their connection to computational networks and have since generated considerable interest in the literature. In a pair of recent articles by Chen, Ghorbani and Wong, the eigenvalues for the adjacency matrix of an (n,k)-arrangement graph are studied and shown to be integers. In this manuscript, we consider the adjaceny matrix directly in terms of the representation theory for the symmetric group. Our point of view yields a simple proof for an explicit fomula of the associated spectrum in terms of the characters of irreducibile representations evaluated on transpositions. As an application we prove a conjecture raised by Chen, Ghorbani and Wong.

The Borel-Weil theorem for reductive Lie groups

In this manuscript we consider the extent to which an irreducible representation for a reductive Lie group can be realized as the sheaf cohomolgy of an equivariant holomorphic line bundle defined on an open invariant submanifold of a complex flag space. Our main result is the following: suppose $G_{0}$ is a real reductive group of Harish-Chandra class and let $X$ be the associated full complex flag space. Suppose $\mathcal{O}_λ$ is the sheaf of sections of a $G_{0}$-equivariant holomorphic line bundle on $X$ whose parameter $λ$ (in the usual twisted $\mathcal{D}% $-module context) is antidominant and regular. Let $S\subseteq X$ be a $G_{0}% $-orbit and suppose $U\supseteq S$ is the smallest $G_{0}$-invariant open submanifold of $X$ that contains $S$. From the analytic localization theory of Hecht and Taylor one knows that there is a nonegative integer $q$ such that the compactly supported sheaf cohomology groups $H_{\text{c}}^{q}(S,\mathcal{O}_λ\mid_{S})$ vanish except in degree $q$, in which case $H_{\text{c}}^{q}(S,\mathcal{O}_λ\mid_{S})$ is the minimal globalization of an associated standard Beilinson-Bernstein module. In this study we show that the $q$-th compactly supported cohomolgy group $H_{\text{c}}^{q}(U,\mathcal{O}_λ\mid_{U})$ defines, in a natural way, a nonzero submodule of $H_{\text{c}}^{q}(S,\mathcal{O}_λ\mid_{S})$, which is irreducible (i.e. realizes the unique irreducible submodule of $H_{\text{c}}^{q}(S,\mathcal{O}_λ\mid_{S})$) when an associated algebraic variety is nonsingular. By a tensoring argument, we can show that the result holds, more generally (for nonsingular Schubert variety), when the representation $H_{\text{c}}^{q}(S,\mathcal{O}_λ\mid_{S})$ is what we call a classifying module.
