Gravity from Invariant Weyl-Integrable space-time (IWIST)

In this paper we propose a geometrically motivated formulation of gravity in an invariant Weyl--Integrable space-time (IWIST), in which the background geometry is not imposed a priori but is dynamically determined through the Palatini variational principle. For a scalar field non-minimally coupled to gravity action, the resulting compatibility condition defines a Weyl--Integrable geometry which is preserved by a local Weyl transformation of the metric and the geo\-me\-tri\-cal scalar field. We construct an action invariant under both diffeomorphisms and Weyl transformations and introduce a Weyl-covariant variational procedure based on an invariant extension of the divergence theorem. The corresponding field equations are obtained for the metric, the Weyl scalar, and the Weyl gauge field. We further formulate the theory in the Einstein--Riemann frame, where the effective metric is Riemannian and the scalar field is re\-inter\-pre\-ted as a phy\-si\-cal degree of freedom of geometric origin. Finally, we propose a geometrical mechanism for the explicit breaking of Weyl symmetry by introducing a coupling between the Weyl gauge field and a current constructed from the scalar sector. The resulting theory remains diffeomorphism covariant while departing from local Weyl invariance. The Einstein--Riemann representation of the broken theory contains an additional generally covariant interaction, making the Weyl-invariant model a particular limit of a more general gravitational theory.

A novel pre-inflationary model in view of the lack of angular correlation of CMB

In this paper we propose a novel unified cosmological model that connects a pre-inflationary epoch, starting at the Planckian time, with the onset of inflation within a single scalar-field framework. The pre-inflationary phase is characterized by a decelerated expansion with an increasing comoving Hubble horizon, followed by a gradually transition to an accelerated inflationary regime. This early dynamics leads to a modified causal structure that naturally accounts for the suppression of large-angle $(θ\gtrsim 60^\circ)$ correlations in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) reported by the satellite PLANCK. We study the quantum fluctuations of the scalar field using the Mukhanov-Sasaki formalism and a canonical quantization procedure based on energy minimization. We find that the vacuum state is well-defined only for sub-horizon modes at the onset of inflation, which induces a natural cutoff in the primordial power spectrum. The resulting spectrum exhibits a suppression at large scales while remaining nearly scale-invariant at small scales. In the appropriate limit, the model recovers the standard de Sitter result, in agreement with current observational constraints. These results highlight the relevance of pre-inflationary dynamics for addressing large-scale anomalies within a consistent inflationary framework.

Power law coupling Higgs-Palatini inflation with a congruence between physical and geometrical symmetries

In this paper we investigate a power law coupling Higgs inflationary model in which the background geometry is determined by the Palatini's variational principle. The geometrical symmetries of the background geometry determine the invariant form of the action of the model and the background geometry resulted is of the Weyl-integrable type. The invariant action results also invariant under the $U(1)$ group, which in general is not compatible with the Weyl group of invariance of the background geometry. However, we found compatibility conditions between the geometrical and physical symmetries of the action in the strong coupling limit. We found that if we start with a non-minimally coupled to gravity action, when we impose the congruence between the both groups of symmetries we end with an invariant action of the scalar-tensor type. We obtain a nearly scale invariant power spectrum for the inflaton fluctuations for certain values of some parameters of the model. Also we obtain va\-lues for the tensor to scalar ratio in agreement with PLANCK and BICEP observational data: $r<0.032$.

Power spectrum of scalar fluctuations of the metric during the formation of a scalar black hole in inflation

In this paper we use the collapse metric obtained by Carneiro and Fabris to calculate the power spectrum associated to gauge invariant fluctuations of the metric during the formation of a primordial scalar black hole at the end of inflation. We assume that local perturbations in the vacuum energy density can collapse by means of the collapse of the local inflaton field, generating a singularity as shown by Carneiro and Fabris. Employing a representative term of the series expansion of the scale factor we obtain a nearly scale invariant power spectrum for a second order approximation of the scale factor. Thus, the spectrum for scalar black holes obtained can be considered as a correction of the power spectrum of the primordial quantum fluctuations of the inflaton field.

Gravitational waves during Higgs inflation from complex geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity

In this paper we investigate tensor fluctuations of the metric at the end of a Higgs inflationary period in the context of a recently introduced complex geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity. In our model the Higgs field has a geometrical origin and the affine connection is determined by the Palatini's principle. Additionally, we consider an extra contribution to the tensor-fluctuations equation coming from the vacuum term in the energy momentum tensor associated to the Higgs field. The Higgs potential is rescaled by the non-canonicity function of the kinetic term of the field which is modified by the symmetry group of the background geometry. We obtain a nearly scale invariant spectrum and a scalar to tensor ratio in agreement with PLANCK 2018 cosmological results.

Dark energy from a geometrical gauge scalar-tensor theory of gravity

In this paper we obtain some cosmological solutions that describe the present period of accelerating expansion of the universe in the framework of a geometrical gauge scalar-tensor theory of gravity. The background geometry in the model is the Weyl integrable and we found a class of power law solutions for the Weyl scalar field when an invariant metric is employed in a power law expanding universe. We obtain a deceleration and an equation of state parameters in agreement with PLANCK 2018 observational data for some specific parameters of the model. The deceleration parameter tends asymptotically to $-1/2$.

Non-perturbative gauge invariant scalar fluctuations of the metric in Higgs inflation from complex geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity

In this letter we investigate gauge invariant scalar fluctuations of the metric in a non-perturbative formalism for a Higgs inflationary model recently introduced in the framework of a geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity. In this scenario the Higgs inflaton field has its origin in the Weyl scalar field of the background geometry. We found a nearly scale invariance of the power spectrum for linear scalar fluctuations of the metric. For certain parameters of the model we obtain values for the scalar spectral index $n_s$ and the scalar to tensor ratio $r$ that fit well with the Planck 2018 results. Besides we show that in this model the trans-planckian problem can be avoided.

Extending $Λ(t)-$CDM to the inflationary epoch using dynamical foliations and a pre-inflationary vacuum energy from 5D geometrical vacuum as a unifying mechanism

In this letter assuming a 5D quantum pre-inflationary vacuum energy, we propose a manner to extend some $Λ(t)$-CDM models to the inflationary period by using dynamical foliations of the five-dimensional (5D) Ricci-flat space-time manifold, regarding a non-compact extra space-like coor\-dinate. In this formalism we achieve also a geometrical unification of inflation and the present acce\-le\-rating epoch. In this approach inflation is generated by a pre-inflationary quantum vacuum energy that maintains the 5D classical vacuum on cosmological scales. We obtain from geometrical conditions that we can model the presence of the pre-inflationary vacuum energy in 4D as a dynamical cosmological constant. The 4D inflationary period results to be governed by a power law expansion and for certain values of some parameters of the model we obtain an spectral index satisfying $0.9607\leq n_s\leq 0.9691$ and a scalar to tensor ratio $r=0.098$, values that fit well according to Planck 2018 results. The 4D inflationary potential is induced for the 5D geometry and the 4D pre-inflationary potential is determined by the model. We show thatin this theoretical framework the present acceleration in the expansion of the universe can be explained due to a remanent of this pre-inflationary vacuum energy scaled to the present epoch and that its description can be done with the same $Λ(t)$. In this period we obtain a deceleration parameter in agreement with Planck 2018 data under certain restrictions of the parameters of the model. From the geometrical point of view $Λ(t)$ is depending on the dynamical foliation of the 5D space-time manifold.

Scalar field unification of interacting viscous dark fluid from a geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity

We investigate, in the framework of a recently introduced new class of invariant geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity, the possibility that a viscous dark fluid can be described in a unified manner by a single scalar field. Thus we developed a model in which both the metric tensor and the scalar field have geometrical origin. The scalar field is characterized by a non-canonical kinetic term and the scalar viscosity of the dark fluid appears as soon the kinetic energy of the scalar field is no longer canonical. The scalar viscosity is considered as a function of the Hubble and the deceleration parameters. To illustrate the formalism we have considered two cases: a constant and a thermodynamic equation of state parameters. In the both cases we obtain analytic representations for the scalar field and their respective potentials. We delimit free parameters by comparing with some Planck 2018 results.

Higgs inflation in complex geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity

We derive a Higgs inflationary model in the context of a complex geometrical scalar-tensor theory of gravity. In this model the Higgs inflaton scalar field has geometrical origin playing the role of the Weyl scalar field in the original non-riemannian background geometry. The energy scale enough to generate inflation from the Higgs energy scale is achieved due to the compatibility of the theory with its background complex Weyl-integrable geometry. We found that for a number of e-foldings $N=63$, a nearly scale invariant spectrum for the inflaton is obtained with an spectral index $n_s\simeq 0.9735$ and a scalar to tensor ratio $r\simeq 0.01$, which are in agreement with Planck observational data.

Relativistic quantum geometry from a 5D geometrical vacuum: gravitational waves from preinflation

In this work we introduce Relativistic Quantum Geometry (RQG) on a Modern Kaluza-Klein theory by studying the boundary conditions on a extended Einstein-Hilbert action for a 5D vacuum defined on a 5D (background) Riemannian manifold. We introduce a connection which describes a displacement from the background manifold to the extended one, on which the 5D vacuum Einstein equations with cosmological constant included, describes the dynamics of the scalar field $σ$, which is responsible of describing the mentioned displacement and complies with a relativistic quantum algebra that depends on the relativistic observers. In our formalism the extra dimension is considered as space-like, and therefore is a noncompact one. After considering a static foliation on the extra dimension, we obtain the dynamics for the gravitational waves that propagates on a 4D (curved) background, defined on the 4D induced curved Riemannian manifold. Finally, an example, in which we study a pre-inflationary model of the early universe is developed. We obtain some constraints from Planck2018 observations.

Gravitoelectromagnetic inflation and seeds of cosmic magnetic fields from geometrical Weyl-invariant scalar-tensor theory of gravity

We investigate cosmological inflationary scenarios from a gravitoelectromagnetic theory. Our work is formulated in the light of a recently introduced geometrical Weyl-Invariant scalar-tensor theory of gravity, where the nature of both the electromagnetic potential and the inflaton field is attributed to the space-time geometry. We obtain a Harrison-Zeldovich power spectrum for quantum fluctuations of the inflaton field. In our model the electromagnetic fields have also a nearly scale invariant power spectrum for a power-law inflation. We found that the the seed magnetic fields have a nearly scale invariant power spectrum and generate in the present times cosmic magnetic fields of the order $\lesssim 10^{9}$ gauss, in good agreement with CMB observations.

Aspects of $(4+4)$-Kaluza-Klein type theory

We develop a type of Kaluza-Klein formalism in $(4+4)$-dimensions. In the framework of this formalism we obtain a new kind of Schwarzschild metric solutions that via Kruskal-Szequeres can be interpreted as mirror black and white holes. We found that this new type of mirror black and white holes solutions in $(3+1)$-dimensions support the idea that the original space-time can be extended to $(4+4)$-signature. Using octonions, we also discus linearized gravity in $(4+4)$-dimensions.

$Λ(t)$CDM and the present accelerating expansion of the universe from 5D scalar vacuum

In this letter we investigate some consequences of considering our 4D observable universe as locally and isometrically embeded into a 5D spacetime, where gravity is described by a Brans-Dicke theory in vacuum. Once we impose the embeding conditions we obtain that gravity on the 4D spacetime is governed by the Einstein field equations modified by an extra term that can play the role of a dynamical cosmological constant. Two examples were studied. In the first we derive a cosmological model of a universe filled only with a cosmological constant. In the second we obtain a cosmological solution describing a universe filled with matter, radiation and a dynamical cosmological constant, in agree with observational data. Due to the 5D geometrical origin for the dynamical cosmological constant we interpret that the acceleration in the expansion is explained without the introduction of a dark energy component. Moreover, all 4D matter sources are geometrically induced in the same manner as it is usually done in the Wesson's induced matter theory.

Gauge invariant fluctuations of the metric during inflation from new scalar-tensor Weyl-Integrable gravity model

We investigate gauge invariant scalar fluctuations of the metric during inflation in a non-perturbative formalism in the framework of a recently introduced scalar-tensor theory of gravity formulated on a Weyl-Integrable geometry. We found that the Weyl scalar field can play the role of the inflaton field in this theory. As an application we study the case of a power law inflation. In this case the quasi-scale invariance of the spectrum for scalar fluctuations of the metric is achieved for determined values of the $ω$ parameter of the scalar-tensor theory. In our formalism the physical inflaton field has a geometrical origin.

Gravitational waves and magnetic monopoles during inflation with Weitzenböck torsion

We study the variational principle on a Hilbert-Einstein action in an extended geometry with torsion taking into account non-trivial boundary conditions. We obtain an effective energy-momentum tensor that has its source in the torsion, which represents the matter geometrically induced. We explore about the existence of magnetic monopoles and gravitational waves in this torsional geometry. We conclude that the boundary terms can be identified as possible sources for the cosmological constant and torsion as the source of magnetic monopoles. We examine an example in which gravitational waves are produced during a de Sitter inflationary expansion of the universe.

Gravitational waves from a Weyl-Integrable manifold: a new formalism

We study the variational principle over an Hilbert-Einstein like action for an extended geometry taking into account torsion and non-metricity. By extending the semi-Riemannian geometry, we obtain an effective energy-momentum tensor which can be interpreted as physical sources. As an application we develop a new manner to obtain the gravitational wave equations on a Weyl-integrable manifold taking into account the non-metricity and non-trivial boundary conditions on the minimization of the action, which can be identified as possible sources for the cosmological constant and provides two different equations for gravitational waves. We examine gravitational waves in a pre-inflationary cosmological model.
