Quantum enhancement of spoofing detection with squeezed states of light

We employ quantum state discrimination theory to establish the ultimate limit for spoofing detection in electromagnetic signals encoded with random quantum states. Our analysis yields an analytical expression for the optimal bound, which we prove can be achieved using a pair of coherent states. Notably, the quantum enhancement persists regardless of photon number, thereby removing the previous constraint to single-photon sources. This breakthrough unlocks new experimental possibilities using standard laser sources. Furthermore, we explore the encoding of squeezed states and demonstrate that the detection probability approaches 100% when the spoofer's capability is restricted to coherent state generation.

Network complexity and topological phase transitions

A new type of collective excitations, due exclusively to the topology of a complex random network that can be characterized by a fractal dimension $D_F$, is investigated. We show analytically that these excitations generate phase transitions due to the non-periodic topology of the $D_F>1$ complex network. An Ising system, with long range interactions over such a network, is studied in detail to support the claim. The analytic treatment is possible because the evaluation of the partition function can be decomposed into closed factor loops, in spite of the architectural complexity. This way we compute the magnetization distribution, magnetization loops, and the two point correlation function; and relate them to the network topology. In summary, the removal of the infrared divergences leads to an unconventional phase transition, where spin correlations are robust against thermal fluctuations.

Rearrangement collisions between gold clusters

Collision processes between two gold clusters are investigated using classical molecular dynamics in combination with embedded atom (EA) potentials, after checking the reliability of EA results by contrasting them with first principles calculations. The Au projectiles considered are both single atoms (N=1) and clusters of N=2, 12, 13 and 14 atoms. The targets contain N= 12, 13 and 14 gold atoms. The initial projectile energy E is in the range 0 < E < 1.5 eV/atom. The results of the collision processes are described and analyzed in detail.
