A Predict-then-Schedule framework for Power Distribution Networks with AI Data Centers

The surge of GPU-intensive workloads in artificial intelligence (AI) data centers drives massive energy demands, leading to soaring costs and significant stress on local power distribution networks. Coordinating delay-tolerant workload scheduling with power grid conditions via precise workload prediction can mitigate these issues. However, a critical gap remains in conventional approaches, i.e., minimizing prediction error does not necessarily lead to minimized downstream operational loss. Hence, this paper proposes an end-to-end Predict-Then-Schedule (PTS) framework that integrates upstream workload prediction with downstream scheduling optimization. By leveraging differentiable convex optimization, the PTS framework maps input features directly to optimal scheduling and enables gradient-based training. Furthermore, to respect the data center's capacity, a workload over-shifted loss combining electricity cost with a penalty for load-shedding is introduced to evaluate scheduling quality. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed framework significantly reduces operational cost and enhances system security compared to the conventional two-stage baseline.

The Cauchy problem for the generalized KdV equation in the Sobolev space $H^{s}(\mathbf{R})$

In this paper, we are concerned with the Cauchy problem for the generalized KdV equation with random data and rough data. Firstly, when $s\in\mathbf{R}$, by using the initial value randomization technique introduced by Shen et al. (arXiv:2111.11935) and the construction of appropriate auxiliary spaces, we establish the almost sure local well-posedness of the generalized KdV equation in $H^{s}(\mathbf{R})$, which improves Theorem 1.3 of Hwang and Kwak (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 146(2018), 267-280.) and Theorem 1.5 of Yan et al.(arXiv:2011.07128.). Secondly, by using the well-posedness results proved in Theorem 1.1, for $f\in H^{s}(\mathbf{R}),\, s\in\mathbf{R}$, we obtain \begin{eqnarray*} &&\mathbb{P}\left(\left\{\omega:\lim_{t\rightarrow0}\|u(t,x)-U(t)f^{\omega}(x)\|_{L_{x}^{\infty}}=0\right\}\right)=1, \end{eqnarray*} which improves Theorem 1.6 of Yan et al.(arXiv:2011.07128.). Thirdly, by using the dyadic decomposition and constructing appropriate function spaces, we establish nonlinear smoothing for the generalized KdV equation with rough data. Furthermore, by using this estimate, when data $f\in H^{s}(\mathbf{R})\cap\hat{L}^{\infty}(\mathbf{R}),\, s>\frac{1}{2}-\frac{2}{k+1},\, k\geq4$, we obtain \begin{eqnarray*} &&\lim_{|x|\rightarrow \infty}u(t,x)=0,\quad t\in[0, T]. \end{eqnarray*} In particular, for $f(x)\in H^{s}(\mathbf{R}),\,s>\frac{1}{2}-\frac{2}{k+1},\,k\geq4$, we prove \begin{eqnarray*} &&\lim_{|x|\rightarrow \infty}(u(t,x)-U(t)f(x))=0. \end{eqnarray*} Finally, by using Theorem 1.1, when $f\in H^{s}(\mathbf{R}),\, s\in\mathbf{R}$, we obtain \begin{eqnarray*} &&\mathbb{P}\left(\left\{\omega: \forall t\in I_{\omega}, \lim_{|x|\rightarrow \infty}\left(u(t,x)-U(t)f^{\omega}(x)\right)=0\right\}\right)=1. \end{eqnarray*}

Existence and qualitative properties of ground state solutions for the Schr\"{o}dinger-Bopp-Podolsky system

This paper concerns the existence and related properties of solutions to the Schr\"{o}dinger-Bopp-Podolsky system, which reduces to a nonlinear and nonlocal partial differential equation describing a Schr\"{o}dinger field coupled with its electromagnetic field in Bopp-Podolsky theory under purely electrostatic conditions. Firstly, by applying the mountain-pass lemma, we obtain the existence of nontrivial solutions. Then, through some estimates of the ground state energy, we prove the existence of ground state solutions. By exploring the relationship between solutions and paths associated with critical points, we further demonstrate that the obtained solutions are ground states of mountain-pass type. Additionally, the positivity, radial symmetry, rotational invariance, and exponential decay of the ground state solutions are considered. Finally, in the radial case, we explore the asymptotic behavior of the obtained solutions with respect to $a$.

Nonreciprocal quantum coherence in cavity magnomechanics via the Barnett effect

We theoretically investigate the quantum coherence ans its nonreciprocity in a cavity magnomechanical (CMM) syetem, which consists of a rotating yittrium iron garnet (YIG) sphere and a microwave cavity. By adjusting the direction of the magnetic field, the frequency shift of a magnon mode can be tuned from positive to negative due to the Barnett effect. This effect leads to a significant difference in the system stability and is responsible for the nonreciprocal quantum coherence. We examine how the input power, magnomechanical and magnon-photon coupling rates, decay rates of both the cavity photon modes and the magnon modes influence the quantum coherence. Through careful tuning of system parameters, nearly perfect nonreciprocity can be achieved. Our results provide a controllable mechanism for direction-dependent quantum coherence, with potential applications in nonreciprocal quantum devices and information processing.

Normalized ground states for the mass supercritical Schrödinger-Bopp-Podolsky system: existence, uniqueness, limit behavior, strong instability

This paper concerns the normalized ground states for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the Bopp-Podolsky electrodynamics. This equation has a nonlocal nonlinearity and a mass supercritical power nonlinearity, both of which have deep impact on the geometry of the corresponding functional, and thus on the existence, limit behavior and stability of the normalized ground states. In the present study, the existence of critical points is obtained by a mountain-pass argument developed on the $L^2$-spheres. To be specific, we show that normalized ground states exist, provided that spherical radius of the $L^2$-spheres is sufficiently small. Then, by discussing the relation between the normalized ground states of the Schrödinger-Bopp-Podolsky system and the classical Schrödinger equation, we show a precise description of the asymptotic behavior of the normalized ground states as the mass vanishes or tends to infinity. Moreover, we discuss the radial symmetry and uniqueness of the normalized ground states. Finally, the strong instability of standing waves at the mountain-pass energy level is studied by constructing an equivalent minimizing problem. Also, as a byproduct, we prove that the mountain-pass energy level gives a threshold for global existence based on this equivalent minimizing problem.

First Identification of New X-Ray Spectra of Mo39+, Mo40+, W43+, W44+ and W45+ on EAST

New high-resolution x-ray spectra of Mo39+, Mo40+, W43+, W44+ and W45+ have been carefully confirmed for the first time by use of the x-ray imaging crystal spectrometer (XCS) in Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) under various combined auxiliary heating plasmas conditions. Wavelength of these new x-ray spectra is ranged from 3.895 Å to 3.986 Å. When core electron temperature (Te0) reaches 6.0 keV, Mo39+ and Mo40+ lines of 3.9727, 3.9294 and 3.9480 Å can be effectively detected on XCS for EAST; meanwhile, line-integrated brightness of these spectral lines of Mo39+ and Mo40+ is very considerable when electron temperature reaches 12.9 keV. Multi-components spectral lines for W43+, W44+ and W45+ have also been identified when Te0 reaches 6 keV. Parts of spectral lines, such as Zn-1, Cu-2, Cu-4a, Cu-4d and Cu-5 lines of tungsten, are first observed experimentally. When electron temperature reaches 12.9 keV, line-integrated intensity for part of these spectral lines of W43+, W44+ and W45+ are considerable. These experimental results and theoretical predictions from FAC and FLYCHK codes are in good general agreement. These new spectral lines, obtained on XCS for EAST, are vital for deeply uncovering the mechanisms of ion and electron thermal, high-Z impurity and momentum (anomalous) transport to achieve the advanced steady-state operation scenarios for ITER and CFETR.

Effects of resonant magnetic perturbations on neutral beam heating in a tokamak

Effects of resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) on tangential neutral beam heating in the EAST tokamak are studied numerically. RMPs with linear resistive magnetohydrodynamics response are used in the modeling. A variety of representing configurations of RMP coil currents are examined and their effects on the NBI heating efficiency are compared, in order to find a parameter window where deleterious effects of RMPs on NBI heating efficiency are minimized. It is found that the internal redistribution of fast ions by RMPs induces local accumulation of fast ions, resulting in higher local fast ion pressure than the case without RMPs. It is also found that the toroidal phasing of the RMP with respect to the fast ion source has slight effects on the steady-state radial profile of fast ions. The dependence of fast ion loss fraction on the RMP up-down phase difference shows similar behavior as the dependence of the radial width of chaotic magnetic field on the phase difference. A statistical method of identifying resonances between RMPs and lost fast ions is proposed and the results indicate that some resonances between RMPs and lost passing particles may be of non-integer fractional order, rather than the usual integer order.

Tight-binding parametrization for the chromium nitride: A NMTO study

We investigate the band structure of chromium nitride using the $N$th-order muffin-tin orbitals (NMTO) based downfolding technique. We obtain downfolded Cr $d$ bands including both $e_{g}$ and $t_{2g}$ states and the hopping integrals of the tight-binding Cr $d$ bands for both cubic and orthorhombic lattice. We further analyze the chemical bonding and tight-binding parameters from the NMTO produced tight-binding Hamiltonian. The effect of lattice distortion is also discussed according to the downfolded tight-binding parameters.
