Molecular Oxygen in the nearest QSO Mrk 231

We report the detection of an emission feature at the 12 sigma level with FWHM line width of about 450 km/s toward the nearest quasi-stellar object, QSO Mrk 231. Based on observations with the IRAM 30 m telescope and the NOEMA Interferometer, the 11-10 transition of molecular oxygen is the likely origin of line with rest frequency close to 118.75 GHz. The velocity of the O2 emission in Mrk 231 coincides with the red wing seen in CO emission, suggesting that it is associated with the outflowing molecular gas, located mainly at about ten kpc away from the central AGN. This first detection of extragalactic molecular oxygen provides an ideal tool to study AGN-driven molecular outflows on dynamic time scales of tens of Myr. O2 may be a significant coolant for molecular gas in such regions affected by AGN-driven outflows. New astrochemical models are needed to explain the implied high molecular oxygen abundance in such regions several kpc away from the center of galaxies.

The construction of 3-Bihom-Lie algebras

The purpose of this paper is to study the construction of $3$-Bihom-Lie algebras. We give some ways of constructing $3$-Bihom-Lie algebras from $3$-Bihom-Lie algebras and $3$-totally Bihom-associative algebras. Furthermore, we introduce $T_θ$-extensions and $T_θ^*$-extensions of $3$-Bihom-Lie algebras and prove the necessary and sufficient conditions for a $2n$-dimensional quadratic $3$-Bihom-Lie algebra to be isomorphic to a $T_θ^*$-extension.

Systematic external evaluation of published population pharmacokinetic models for tacrolimus in adult liver transplant recipients

Background:Diverse tacrolimus population pharmacokinetic models in adult liver transplant recipients have been established to describe the PK characteristics of tacrolimus in the last two decades. However, their extrapolated predictive performance remains unclear. Therefore,in this study,we aimed to evaluate their external predictability and identify their potential influencing factors. Methods:The external predictability of each selected popPK model was evaluated using an independent dataset of 84 patients with 572 trough concentrations prospectively collected from Huashan Hospital. Prediction and simulation based diagnostics and Bayesian forecasting were conducted to evaluate model predictability. Furthermore, the effect of model structure on the predictive performance was investigated. Results:Sixteen published popPK models were assessed. In prediction-based diagnostics, the prediction error within 30% was below 50% in all the published models. The simulation based normalised prediction distribution error test and visual predictive check indicated large discrepancies between the observations and simulations in most of the models. Bayesian forecasting showed improvement in model predictability with two to three prior observations. Additionally, the predictive performance of the nonlinear Michaelis Menten model was superior to that of linear compartment models, indicating the underlying nonlinear kinetics of tacrolimus in liver transplant recipients. Conclusions:The published models performed inadequately in prediction and simulation based diagnostics. Bayesian forecasting may improve the predictive performance of the models. Furthermore, nonlinear kinetics of tacrolimus may be mainly caused by the properties of the drug itself, and incorporating nonlinear kinetics may be considered to improve model predictability.

Mapping Observations of complex organic molecules around Sagittarius B2 with ARO 12m telescope

We performed high-sensitivity mapping observations of several complex organic molecules around Sagittarius B2 with ARO 12m telescope at 3-mm wavelength. Based on their spatial distribution, molecules can be classified as either "extended" that detected not only in Sgr B2(N) and Sgr B2(M), or "compact" that only detected toward or near to Sgr B2(N) and Sgr B2(M). The "extended" molecules including glycolaldehyde (CH2OHCHO), methyl formate (CH3OCHO), formic acid (t-HCOOH), ethanol (C2H5OH) and methyl amine (CH3NH2), while the "compact" molecules including dimethyl ether (CH3OCH3), ethyl cyanide (C2H5CN), and amino acetonitrile (H2NCH2CN). These "compact" molecules are likely produced under strong UV radiation, while "extended" molecules are likely formed under low-temperature, via gas-phase or grain surface reactions. The spatial distribution of "warm" CH2OHCHO at 89 GHz differ from the spatial distribution of "cold" CH2OHCHO observed at 13 GHz. We found evidence for an overabundance of CH2OHCHO compared to that expected from the gas-phase model, which indicates that grain-surface reactions are necessary to explain the origin of CH2OHCHO in Sagittarius B2. Grain-surface reactions are also needed to explain the correlation between the abundances of "cold" CH2OHCHO and C2H5OH. These results demonstrate the importance of grain-surface chemistry in the production of complex organic molecules.

MG-VAE: Deep Chinese Folk Songs Generation with Specific Regional Style

Regional style in Chinese folk songs is a rich treasure that can be used for ethnic music creation and folk culture research. In this paper, we propose MG-VAE, a music generative model based on VAE (Variational Auto-Encoder) that is capable of capturing specific music style and generating novel tunes for Chinese folk songs (Min Ge) in a manipulatable way. Specifically, we disentangle the latent space of VAE into four parts in an adversarial training way to control the information of pitch and rhythm sequence, as well as of music style and content. In detail, two classifiers are used to separate style and content latent space, and temporal supervision is utilized to disentangle the pitch and rhythm sequence. The experimental results show that the disentanglement is successful and our model is able to create novel folk songs with controllable regional styles. To our best knowledge, this is the first study on applying deep generative model and adversarial training for Chinese music generation.

A 6.7 GHz Methanol Maser Survey II. Low Galactic Latitudes

We report the results of our systematic survey for Galactic 6.7 GHz Class II CH$_3$OH maser emission toward a sample of young stellar objects. The survey was conducted with the Shanghai Tianma Radio Telescope (TMRT). The sample consists of 3348 sources selected from the all-sky \emph{Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE)} point source catalog. We have discussed the selection criteria in detail and the detection results of those at high Galactic latitudes (i.e. $|b|>$ 2$^\circ$) in a previous paper (paper I). Here, we present the results from the survey of those at low Galactic latitudes, i.e. $|b|<2^\circ$. Of 1875 selected \emph{WISE} point sources, 291 positions that were actually associated with 224 sources were detected with CH$_3$OH maser emission. Among them, 32 are newly detected. Majority of the newly detected sources are associated with bright WISE sources. The majority of the detected sources (209/224 = 93.3\%) are quite close to the Galactic Plane ($|b|<1^\circ$) and lie on the inner spiral arms with positive LSR velocities. Detection rate and the color-color distribution of our detection are all matched with our anticipation. Combining with detections from previous surveys, we compile a catalogue of 1085 sources with 6.7 GHz CH$_3$OH maser emission in our Galaxy.

Carbon-Chain Molecules in Molecular Outflows and Lupus I Region--New Producing Region and New Forming Mechanism

Using the new equipment of the Shanghai Tian Ma Radio Telescope, we have searched for carbon-chain molecules (CCMs) towards five outflow sources and six Lupus I starless dust cores, including one region known to be characterized by warm carbon-chain chemistry (WCCC), Lupus I-1 (IRAS 15398-3359), and one TMC-1 like cloud, Lupus I-6 (Lupus-1A). Lines of HC3N J=2-1, HC5N J=6-5, HC7N J=14-13, 15-14, 16-15 and C3S J=3-2 were detected in all the targets except in the outflow source L1660 and the starless dust core Lupus I-3/4. The column densities of nitrogen-bearing species range from 10$^{12}$ to 10$^{14}$ cm$^{-2}$ and those of C$_3$S are about 10$^{12}$ cm$^{-2}$. Two outflow sources, I20582+7724 and L1221, could be identified as new carbon-chain--producing regions. Four of the Lupus I dust cores are newly identified as early quiescent and dark carbon-chain--producing regions similar to Lup I-6, which together with the WCCC source, Lup I-1, indicate that carbon-chain-producing regions are popular in Lupus I which can be regard as a Taurus like molecular cloud complex in our Galaxy. The column densities of C3S are larger than those of HC7N in the three outflow sources I20582, L1221 and L1251A. Shocked carbon-chain chemistry (SCCC) is proposed to explain the abnormal high abundances of C3S compared with those of nitrogen-bearing CCMs. Gas-grain chemical models support the idea that shocks can fuel the environment of those sources with enough $S^+$ thus driving the generation of S-bearing CCMs.

A particular carbon-chain-producing region: L1489 starless core

We detected carbon-chain molecules (CCMs) HC2n+1N (n=1-3) and C3S in Ku band as well as {high-energy excitation lines including C4H N=9-8, J=17/2-15/2, 19/2-17/2, and CH3CCH J=5-4, K=2 in the 3 mm band toward a starless core called the eastern molecular core (EMC) of L1489 IRS. Maps of all the observed lines were also obtained. Comparisons with a number of early starless cores and WCCC source L1527 show that the column densities of C4H and CH3CCH are close to those of L1527, and the CH3CCH column densities of the EMC and L1527 are slightly higher than those of TMC-1. The EMC and L1527 have similar C3S column densities, but they are much lower than those of all the starless cores, with only 6.5% and 10% of the TMC-1 value, respectively. The emissions of the N-bearing species of the EMC and L1527 are at the medium level of the starless cores. These comparisons show that the CCM emissions in the EMC are similar to those of L1527, though L1527 contains a protostar. Although dark and quiescent, the EMC is warmer and at a later evolutionary stage than classical carbon-chain--producing regions in the cold, dark, quiescent early phase. The PACS, SPIRE, and SCUBA maps evidently show that the L1489 IRS seems to be the heating source of the EMC. Although it is located at the margins of the EMC, its bolometric luminosity and bolometric temperature are relatively high. Above all, the EMC is a rather particular carbon-chain-producing region and is quite significant for CCM science.

A SiO J = 5 - 4 Survey Toward Massive Star Formation Regions

We performed a survey in the SiO $J=5\rightarrow4$ line toward a sample of 199 Galactic massive star-forming regions at different evolutionary stages with the SMT 10 m and CSO 10.4 m telescopes. The sample consists of 44 infrared dark clouds (IRDCs), 86 protostellar candidates, and 69 young \HII\ regions. We detected SiO $J=5\rightarrow4$ line emission in 102 sources, with a detection rate of 57\%, 37\%, and 65\% for IRDCs, protostellar candidates, and young \HII\ regions, respectively. We find both broad line with Full Widths at Zero Power (FWZP) $>$ 20 \kms and narrow line emissons of SiO in objects at various evolutionary stages, likely associated with high-velocity shocks and low-velocity shocks, respectively. The SiO luminosities do not show apparent differences among various evolutionary stages in our sample. We find no correlation between the SiO abundance and the luminosity-to-mass ratio, indicating that the SiO abundance does not vary significantly in regions at different evolutionary stages of star formation.

A 6.7 GHz Methanol Maser Survey at High Galactic Latitudes

We performed a systematic 6.7 GHz Class \uppercase\expandafter{\romannumeral2} methanol maser survey using the Shanghai Tianma Radio Telescope toward targets selected from the all-sky \emph{Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE)} point catalog. In this paper, we report the results from the survey of those at high Galactic latitudes, i.e. $|b|>$ 2$^\circ$. Of 1473 selected \emph{WISE} point sources at high latitude, 17 point positions that were actually associated with 12 sources were detected with maser emission, reflecting the rarity (1$-$2\%) of methanol masers in the region away from the Galactic plane. Out of the 12 sources, 3 are detected for the first time. The spectral energy distribution (SED) at infrared bands shows that these new detected masers occur in the massive star forming regions. Compared to previous detections, the methanol maser changes significantly in both spectral profiles and flux densities. The infrared \emph{WISE} images show that almost all of these masers are located in the positions of the bright \emph{WISE} point sources. Compared with the methanol masers at the Galactic plane, these high-latitude methanol masers provide good tracers for investigating the physics and kinematics around massive young stellar objects, because they are believed to be less affected by the surrounding cluster environment.

Catalogue of High Protostellar Surface Density Regions in Nearby Embedded Clusters

We analyze high-quality stellar catalogs for 24 young and nearby (within 1 kpc) embedded clusters and present a catalogue of 32 groups which have a high concentration of protostars. The median effective radius of these groups is 0.17 pc. The median protostellar and pre-main sequence star surface densities are 46 M_{\odot} pc^{-2} and 11 M_{\odot} pc^{-2}, respectively. We estimate the age of these groups using a model of constant birthrate and random accretion stopping and find a median value of 0.25 Myr. Some groups in Aquila and Serpens, Corona Australia and Ophichus L1688 show high protostellar surface density and high molecular gas surface density, which seem to be undergoing vigorous star formation. These groups provide an excellent opportunity to study initial conditions of clustered star formation. Comparison of protostellar and pre-main-sequence stellar surface densities reveal continuous low-mass star formation of these groups over several Myr in some clouds. For groups with typical protostellar separations of less than 0.4 pc, we find that these separations agree well with the thermal Jeans fragmentation scale. On the other hand, for groups with typical protostellar separations larger than 0.4 pc, these separations are always larger than the associated Jeans length.

A Bayesian Joint model for Longitudinal DAS28 Scores and Competing Risk Informative Drop Out in a Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinical Trial

Rheumatoid arthritis clinical trials are strategically designed to collect the disease activity score of each patient over multiple clinical visits, meanwhile a patient may drop out before their intended completion due to various reasons. The dropout terminates the longitudinal data collection on the patients activity score. In the presence of informative dropout, that is, the dropout depends on latent variables from the longitudinal process, simply applying a model to analyze the longitudinal outcomes may lead to biased results because the assumption of random dropout is violated. In this paper we develop a data driven Bayesian joint model for modeling DAS28 scores and competing risk informative drop out. The motivating example is a clinical trial of Etanercept and Methotrexate with radiographic Patient Outcomes (TEMPO, Keystone et.al).

A spectral line survey of IRC +10216 between 13.3 and 18.5 GHz

A spectral line survey of IRC +10216 between 13.3 and 18.5 GHz is carried out using the Shanghai Tian Ma 65 m Radio Telescope (TMRT-65m) with a sensitivity of < 7 mK. Thirty-five spectral lines of 12 different molecules and radicals are detected in total. Except for SiS, the detected molecules are all carbon-chain molecules, including HC3N, HC5N, HC7N, HC9N, C6H, C6H-, C8H, SiC2, SiC4, c-C3H2 and l-C5H. The presence of rich carbon-bearing molecules is consistent with the identity of IRC +10216 as a carbon-rich AGB star. The excitation temperatures and column densities of the observed species are derived by assuming a local thermodynamic equilibrium and homogeneous conditions.

Widespread Presence of Glycolaldehyde and Ethylene Glycol Around Sagittarius B2

We report the detection of widespread CH$_2$OHCHO and HOCH$_2$CH$_2$OH emission in Galactic center giant molecular cloud Sagittarius B2 using the Shanghai Tianma 65m Radio Telescope. Our observations show for the first time that the spatial distribution of these two important prebiotic molecules extends over 15 arc-minutes, corresponding to a linear size of approximately 36 pc. These two molecules are not just distributed in or near the hot cores. The abundance of these two molecules seems to decrease from the cold outer region to the central region associated with star-formation activity. Results present here suggest that these two molecules are likely to form through a low temperature process. Recent theoretical and experimental studies demonstrated that prebiotic molecules can be efficiently formed in icy grain mantles through several pathways. However, these complex ice features cannot be directly observed, and most constraints on the ice compositions come from millimeter observations of desorbed ice chemistry products. These results, combined with laboratory studies, strongly support the existence of abundant prebiotic molecules in ices.

Representation of asymptotic values for nonexpansive stochastic control systems

In ergodic stochastic problems the limit of the value function $V_λ$ of the associated discounted cost functional with infinite time horizon is studied, when the discounted factor $λ$ tends to zero. These problems have been well studied in the literature and the used assumptions guarantee that the value function $λV_λ$ converges uniformly to a constant as $λ\to 0$. The objective of this work consists in studying these problems under assumptions, namely, the nonexpansivity assumption, under which the limit function is not necessarily constant. Our discussion goes beyond the case of the stochastic control problem with infinite time horizon and discusses also $V_λ$ given by a Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation of second order which is not necessarily associated with a stochastic control problem. On the other hand, the stochastic control case generalizes considerably earlier works by considering cost functionals defined through a backward stochastic differential equation with infinite time horizon and we give an explicit representation formula for the limit of $λV_λ$, as $λ\to 0$.

Rare-Event Simulation for Distribution Networks

We model equilibrium allocations in a distribution network as the solution of a linear program (LP) which minimizes the cost of unserved demands across nodes in the network. The constraints in the LP dictate that once a given node's supply is exhausted, its unserved demand is distributed among neighboring nodes. All nodes do the same and the resulting solution is the equilibrium allocation. Assuming that the demands are random (following a jointly Gaussian law), our goal is to study the probability that the optimal cost (i.e. the cost of unserved demands in equilibrium) exceeds a large threshold, which is a rare event. Our contribution is the development of importance sampling and conditional Monte Carlo algorithms for estimating this probability. We establish the asymptotic efficiency of our algorithms and also present numerical results which illustrate strong performance of our procedures.

A Mean-field Stochastic Control Problem with Partial Observations

In this paper we are interested in a new type of {\it mean-field}, non-Markovian stochastic control problems with partial observations. More precisely, we assume that the coefficients of the controlled dynamics depend not only on the paths of the state, but also on the conditional law of the state, given the observation to date. Our problem is strongly motivated by the recent study of the mean field games and the related McKean-Vlasov stochastic control problem, but with added aspects of path-dependence and partial observation. We shall first investigate the well-posedness of the state-observation dynamics, with combined reference probability measure arguments in nonlinear filtering theory and the Schauder fixed point theorem. We then study the stochastic control problem with a partially observable system in which the conditional law appears nonlinearly in both the coefficients of the system and cost function. As a consequence the control problem is intrinsically "time-inconsistent", and we prove that the Pontryagin Stochastic Maximum Principle holds in this case and characterize the adjoint equations, which turn out to be a new form of mean-field type BSDEs.

Mean-field forward and backward SDEs with jumps. Associated nonlocal quasi-linear integral-PDEs

In this paper we consider a mean-field backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) driven by a Brownian motion and an independent Poisson random measure. Translating the splitting method introduced by Buckdahn, Li, Peng and Rainer [6] to BSDEs, the existence and the uniqueness of the solution $(Y^{t,ξ}, Z^{t,ξ}, H^{t,ξ})$, $(Y^{t,x,P_ξ}, Z^{t,x,P_ξ}, H^{t,x,P_ξ})$ of the split equations are proved. The first and the second order derivatives of the process $(Y^{t,x,P_ξ}, Z^{t,x,P_ξ}, H^{t,x,P_ξ})$ with respect to $x$, the derivative of the process $(Y^{t,x,P_ξ}, Z^{t,x,P_ξ}, H^{t,x,P_ξ})$ with respect to the measure $P_ξ$, and the derivative of the process $(\partial_μY^{t,x,P_ξ}(y), \partial_μZ^{t,x,P_ξ}(y), \partial_μH^{t,x,P_ξ}(y))$ with respect to $y$ are studied under appropriate regularity assumptions on the coefficients, respectively. These derivatives turn out to be bounded and continuous in $L^2$. The proof of the continuity of the second order derivatives is particularly involved and requires subtle estimates. This regularity ensures that the value function $V(t,x,P_ξ):=Y_t^{t,x,P_ξ}$ is regular and allows to show with the help of a new Itô formula that it is the unique classical solution of the related nonlocal quasi-linear integral-partial differential equation (PDE) of mean-field type.
