Search for Dark Matter in 2HDMS at LHC and future Lepton Colliders

We investigate the phenomenological prospects of the Two Higgs Doublet and Complex Singlet Scalar Extension (2HDMS) in the context of dark matter (DM) and Higgs phenomenology. The 2HDMS provides an enlarged Higgs sector along with a DM candidate. In this work, we perform an exhaustive scan to find representative benchmarks which are consistent with all theoretical and experimental constraints. We choose benchmarks with light, intermediate and massive DM masses and in some cases, also accommodate the 95 GeV excess in $b\bar{b}$ and $γγ$ channels observed at the Large Electron-Positron Collider (LEP) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We focus on the relevant signatures at the LHC and at proposed future lepton colliders including electron-positron and muon colliders. Using a cut and count analysis, we show that while the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) may give a hint of new physics, future lepton colliders prove to be efficient discovery probes for the 2HDMS.

Vector Dark Matter in a $U(1)_X$ extended 2HDM

We investigate the possibility of having a vector boson dark matter in a $U(1)_X$ extended two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) setup. The gauge boson gains mass when a SM singlet complex scalar, which is charged under the dark $U(1)_X$ symmetry, acquires vacuum expectation value (\textit{vev}). This scalar acts as the connection between the SM sector and DM via the Higgs portal. An additional exact charge conjugation symmetry inhibits the mixing of this gauge boson with the photon, thereby confirming the stability of DM. On the other hand, 2HDM with Type I $Z_2$ restriction can offer a non-standard Higgs in the lighter mass range. This freedom allows us to accommodate dark matter mass in the (40-60) GeV regime where the direct detection constraints are strongest. We study the dark matter phenomenology of such a model while taking care of all possible theoretical and experimental constraints.

Reinterpretation and preservation of data and analyses in HEP

Data from particle physics experiments are unique and are often the result of a very large investment of resources. Given the potential scientific impact of these data, which goes far beyond the immediate priorities of the experimental collaborations that obtain them, it is imperative that the collaborations and the wider particle physics community publish and preserve sufficient information to ensure that this impact can be realised, now and into the future. The information to be published and preserved includes the algorithms, statistical information, simulations and the recorded data. This publication and preservation requires significant resources, and should be a strategic priority with commensurate planning and resource allocation from the earliest stages of future facilities and experiments.

Phenomenology of the dark matter sector in the 2HDM extended with complex scalar singlet

The two-Higgs-doublet model augmented with a complex scalar singlet (2HDMS) is a well-motivated candidate for Beyond Standard Model (BSM) Physics. We investigate the dark matter phenomenology of the 2HDMS with the complex scalar singlet as the dark matter candidate. We perform a study of the parameter space allowed by existing theoretical and experimental constraints from dark matter, flavour physics and collider searches. Further, we discuss a few benchmark scenarios to test the discovery potential for the 2HDMS at the HL-LHC and at future high-energy $e^+e^-$ colliders.

Prospects for supersymmetry at high luminosity LHC

Weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY) is highly motivated in that it provides a 't Hooft technically natural solution to the gauge hierarchy problem. However, recent strong limits from superparticle searches at LHC Run 2 may exacerbate a so-called Little Hierarchy problem (LHP) which is a matter of practical naturalness: why is m_{weak}<< m_{soft}? We review recent LHC and WIMP dark matter search bounds as well as their impact on a variety of proposed SUSY models: gravity-, gauge-, anomaly-, mirage- and gaugino-mediation along with some dark matter proposals such as well-tempered neutralinos. We address the naturalness question. We also address the emergence of the string landscape at the beginning of the 21st century and its impact on expectations for SUSY. Rather generally, the string landscape statistically prefers large soft SUSY breaking terms but subject to the anthropic requirement that the derived value of the weak scale for each pocket universe (PU) within the greater multiverse lies with the ABDS window of values. This {\it stringy natural} (SN) approach implies m_h~ 125 GeV more often than not with sparticles beyond or well-beyond present LHC search limits. We review detailed reach calculations of the high-lumi LHC (HL-LHC) for non-universal Higgs mass models which present perhaps the most plausible realization of SUSY from the string landscape. In contrast to conventional wisdom, from a stringy naturalness point of view, the search for SUSY at LHC has only just begun to explore the interesting regimes of parameter space. We comment on how non-universal Higgs models could be differentiated from other expressions of natural SUSY such as natural anomaly-mediation and natural mirage mediation at HL-LHC.

Revisiting the decoupling limit of the Georgi-Machacek model with a scalar singlet

We study the connection between collider and dark matter phenomenology in the singlet extension of the Georgi-Machacek model. In this framework, the singlet scalar serves as a suitable thermal dark matter (DM) candidate. Our focus lies on the region $v_χ<1$ GeV, where $v_χ$ is the common vacuum expectation value of the neutral components of the scalar triplets of the model. Setting bounds on the model parameters from theoretical, electroweak precision and LHC experimental constraints, we find that the BSM Higgs sector is highly constrained. Allowed values for the masses of the custodial fiveplets, triplets and singlet are restricted to the range $140~ {\rm GeV }< M_{H_5} < 350~ {\rm GeV }$, $150~ {\rm GeV }< M_{H_3} < 270 ~{\rm GeV }$ and $145~ {\rm GeV }< M_{H} < 300~ {\rm GeV }$. The extended scalar sector provides new channels for DM annihilation into BSM scalars that allow to satisfy the observed relic density constraint while being consistent with direct DM detection limits. The allowed region of the parameter space of the model can be explored in the upcoming DM detection experiments, both direct and indirect. In particular, the possible high values of BR$(H^0_5\toγγ)$ can lead to an indirect DM signal within the reach of CTA. The same feature also provides the possibility of exploring the model at the High-Luminosity run of the LHC. In a simple cut-based analysis, we find that a signal of about $4σ$ significance can be achieved in final states with at least two photons for one of our benchmark points.

Dark Matter Phenomenology in 2HDMS in light of the 95 GeV excess

The Two Higgs Doublet model extended with a complex scalar singlet (2HDMS) is a well-motivated Beyond Standard Model candidate addressing several open problems of nature. In this work, we focus on the dark matter (DM) phenomenology of the complex scalar singlet where the real part of the complex scalar obtains a vacuum expectation value. The model is characterized by an enlarged Higgs spectrum comprising six physical Higgs bosons and a pseudoscalar DM candidate. We address the impact of accommodating the 95 GeV excess on the 2HDMS parameter space and DM observables after including all theoretical and experimental constraints. Finally, we look into the prospects of this scenario at HL-LHC and future lepton colliders for a representative benchmark.

Minding the gap: testing natural anomaly-mediated SUSY breaking at high luminosity LHC

While the minimal anomaly-mediated SUSY breaking model (mAMSB) seems ruled out by constraints on Higgs mass, naturalness and wino dark matter, a slightly generalized version dubbed natural AMSB (nAMSB) remains both viable and compelling. Like mAMSB, nAMSB features winos as the lightest gauginos, but unlike mAMSB, nAMSB allows a small mu parameter so that higgsinos are the lightest of electroweakinos (EWinos). nAMSB spectra depend on the input value of gravitino mass m_{3/2}, where the lower range of m_{3/2} is excluded by LHC gluino pair searches while a higher m_{3/2} band is excluded by LHC limits on wino pair production followed by boosted hadronic wino decays. A remaining intermediate gap in m_{3/2} values remains allowed by present LHC searches, but appears to be completely explorable by high luminosity ugrades of LHC (HL-LHC). We explore a variety of compelling discovery channels that may allow one to close the intermediate gap in m_{3/2} values: 1. same-sign diboson +MET (SSdB) production arising from wino pair production, leading to same-sign dileptons plus MET, 2. trilepton production arising from wino pair production and 3. soft dilepton plus jet events from higgsino pair production, 4. top-squark pair production. From our signal-to-background analysis along a nAMSB model line, we expect HL-LHC to either discover or rule out the nAMSB model with 3000 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity.

Inflation and Higgs Phenomenology in a Model Unifying the DFSZ Axion with the Majoron

The Two-Higgs-Doublet-Standard Model-Axion-Seesaw-Higgs-Portal inflation (2hdSMASH) model consisting of two Higgs doublets, a Standard Model (SM) singlet complex scalar and three SM singlet right-handed neutrinos can embed axion dark matter, neutrino masses and address inflation. We report on an investigation of the inflationary aspects of 2hdSMASH and its subsequent impact on low energy phenomenology. In particular, we identify inflationary directions for which the parameter values required for successful inflation do not violate perturbative unitarity and boundedness-from-below conditions. By analyzing the renormalization-group flow of the parameters we identify the necessary and sufficient constraints for running all parameters perturbatively and maintaining stability from the electroweak to the PLANCK scale. We observe that stringent constraints arise on the singlet scalar self coupling from inflationary constraints, i.e, $λ_S\sim 10^{-10}$. Further, we find that all theoretical and experimental constraints are satisfied if the portal couplings are typically in the range $(\frac{v}{v_S})$ and $(\frac{v}{v_S})^2$ (where $v, v_S$ refer to the electroweak and singlet scalar vacuum expectation value respectively). As a consequence, inflation is realized in a variety of field space directions in the effective single field regime. Finally we provide testable benchmark scenarios at colliders.

Searching for top squarks from the landscape at HL-LHC

Supersymmetric models with low electroweak fine-tuning are more prevalent on the string landscape than fine-tuned models. We assume a fertile patch of landscape vacua containing the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) as a low-energy EFT. Such models are characterized by light higgsinos in the mass range of a few hundred GeV whilst top squarks are in the 1-2.5 TeV range. Other sparticles are generally beyond current LHC reach. We evaluate prospects for top squark searches of the expected natural SUSY at HL-LHC.

Connecting Inflation and Low Energy Phenomenology in an Extended Two-Higgs-Doublet-Model

We investigate the Two-Higgs-Doublet-Standard Model-Axion-Seesaw-Higgs-Portal inflation (2hdSMASH) model consisting of two Higgs doublets, a Standard Model (SM) singlet complex scalar and three SM singlet right-handed Majorana neutrinos that can address the strong CP problem, dark matter, neutrino masses, baryogenesis and inflation. We identify inflationary directions consistent with successful inflation and theoretical constraints including perturbative unitarity, boundedness-from-below conditions and high scale validity upto the PLANCK scale. Further, we present representative benchmark points satisfying theoretical and experimental constraints potentially accessible at future colliders.

Natural anomaly-mediation from the landscape with implications for LHC SUSY searches

Supersymmetric models with the anomaly-mediated SUSY breaking (AMSB) arose in two different settings: 1. extra-dimensional models where SUSY breaking occurred in a sequestered sector and 2. 4-d models with dynamical SUSY breaking in a hidden sector where scalars gain masses of order the gravitino mass m_{3/2} but with gauginos and trilinear soft terms of the AMSB form. Both have run into serious conflicts with 1. LHC sparticle and Higgs mass constraints, 2. constraints from wino-like WIMP dark matter searches and 3. bounds from naturalness. These conflicts may be avoided by introducing minor changes to the underlying phenomenological models consisting of non-universal bulk scalar Higgs masses and A-terms, providing a setting for {\it natural anomaly-mediation} (nAMSB). In nAMSB, the wino is still expected to be the lightest of the gauginos, but the higgsinos are expected to be the lightest electroweakinos (EWinos) in accord with naturalness. We examine what sort of spectra are expected to emerge when nAMSB arises from a string landscape setting. We explore the LHC phenomenology of nAMSB models via higgsino pair production and wino pair production. We characterize the dominant LHC signatures arising from the remaining patch of parameter space which should be fully testable at high-luminosity LHC via EWino pair production searches.

Dark matter phenomenology in Z'2 broken singlet extended 2HDM

Many different approaches have been made to explain the nature of dark matter (DM), but it remains and unsolved mystery of our universe. In this work we examine a type II two-Higgs-doublet model extended by a complex singlet (2HDMS), where the pseudo-scalar component of the singlet acts as a natural DM candidate. The DM candidate is stabilized by a Z'2 symmetry, which is broken spontaneously by the singlet acquiring a vacuum expectation value (vev). This vev in turn causes the scalar component of the singlet to mix with the scalar components of the two doublets, which results in three scalar Higgs particles. Additionally we aim to include an excess around 95 GeV, which was observed at CSM and LEP and can be explained by one of the three scalar Higgs particles. After introducing the model, we apply experimental and theoretical constraints and find a viable benchmark point. We then look into the DM phenomenology as well as collider phenomenology.

Top squarks from the landscape at high luminosity LHC

Supersymmetric models with low electroweak finetuning are expected to be more prevalent on the string landscape than finetuned models. We assume a fertile patch of landscape vacua containing the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) as low energy/weak scale effective field theory (LE-EFT). Then, a statistical pull by the landscape to large soft terms is balanced by the requirement of a derived value of the weak scale which is not too far from its measured value in our universe. Such models are characterized by light higgsinos in the few hundred GeV range whilst top squarks are in the 1-2.5 TeV range with large trilinear soft terms which helps to push m_h~ 125 GeV. Other sparticles are generally beyond current LHC reach and the BR(b -> sγ) branching fraction is nearly equal to its SM value. The light top-squarks decay comparably via \tst_1 -> b\tchi_1^+ and \tst_1 -> t\tchi_{1,2}^0 yielding mixed final states of b\bar{b}+MET, t\bar{b}/\ \bar{t}b + MET and t\bar{t}+ MET. We evaluate prospects for top squark discovery at high-luminosity (HL) LHC for the well-motivated case of natural SUSY from the landscape. We find for HL-LHC a 5σreach out to m_{\tst_1}~ 1.7 TeV and a 95\% CL exclusion reach to m_{\tst_1} ~ 2 TeV. These reaches cover {\it most} (but not all) of the allowed stringy natural parameter space!

Dark Matter Phenomenology in 2HDMS

The constituents of dark matter are still an unresolved puzzle. Several Beyond Standard Model (BSM) Physics offer suitable candidates. In this study here we consider the Two Higgs Doublet model augmented with a complex scalar singlet (2HDMS) and focus on the dark matter phenomenology of 2HDMS with the complex scalar singlet as the dark matter candidate. The parameter space allowed from existing experimental constraints from dark matter, flavour physics and collider searches has been studied. The discovery potential for such a 2HDMS at HL-LHC and at future $e^+e^-$ colliders has been worked out.

Boosted jet techniques for a supersymmetric scenario with gravitino LSP

Search for compressed supersymmetry at multi-TeV scale, in the presence of a light gravitino dark matter, can get sizable uplift while looking into the associated fat-jets with missing transverse momenta as a signature of the boson produced in the decay process of much heavier next-to-lightest sparticle. We focus on the hadronic decay of the ensuing Higgs and/or $Z$ boson giving rise to at least two fat-jets and $\slashed{E}_T$ in the final state. We perform a detailed background study adopting a multivariate analysis using a boosted decision tree to provide a robust investigation to explore the discovery potential for such signal at 14 TeV LHC considering different benchmark points satisfying all the theoretical and experimental constraints. This channel provides the best discovery prospects with most of the benchmarks discoverable within an integrated luminosity of $\mathcal{L}=200$ fb$^{-1}$. Kinematic observables are investigated in order to distinguish between compressed and uncompressed spectra having similar event yields.

Identifying a Higgsino-like NLSP in the context of a keV-scale gravitino LSP

The presence of a Higgsino-like neutralino next-to-lightest sparticle (NLSP) and a keV scale gravitino ($\widetilde{G}$) LSP opens up new decay modes of the NLSP, mainly to a Higgs/$Z$ boson and the LSP. Besides, a keV-scale gravitino as a warm dark matter candidate salvages a relatively-light Higgsino-like NLSP from dark matter constraints. We focus on the prospects of observing at least one b jet and two opposite sign leptons with a large missing transverse momenta ($\geq 1 b$ $+$ $ \ell^+\ell^-+\not{\!\!E}_T$) signal at the LHC. A distinguishing feature of this scenario is the production of longitudinal $Z$ bosons in neutralino decays, unlike in the case of gauginolike neutralinos, where the $Z$ is mostly transverse. The polarisation information of the parent $Z$ boson gets reflected in the angular distributions of the decay leptons and in some other variables derived therefrom.
