A mass transportation approach for Sobolev inequalities in variable exponent spaces

In this paper we provide a proof of the Sobolev-Poincaré inequality for variable exponent spaces by means of mass transportation methods. The importance of this approach is that the method is exible enough to deal with different inequalities. As an application, we also deduce the Sobolev-trace inequality improving the result obtained by Fan.

A Gamma convergence approach to the critical Sobolev embedding in variable exponent spaces

In this paper, we study the critical Sobolev embeddings $W^{1,p(x)}(Ω)\subset L^{p^*(x)}(Ω)$ for variable exponent Sobolev spaces from the point of view of the $Γ$-convergence. More precisely we determine the $Γ$-limit of subcritical approximation of the best constant associated with this embedding. As an application we provide a sufficient condition for the existence of extremals for the best constant.

Existence of solution to a critical equation with variable exponent

In this paper we study the existence problem for the $p(x)-$Laplacian operator with a nonlinear critical source. We find a local condition on the exponents ensuring the existence of a nontrivial solution that shows that the Pohozaev obstruction does not holds in general in the variable exponent setting. The proof relies on the Concentration--Compactness Principle for variable exponents and the Mountain Pass Theorem.

Multiple solutions for the $p-$laplace operator with critical growth

In this note we show the existence of at least three nontrivial solutions to the following quasilinear elliptic equation $-Δ_p u = |u|^{p^*-2}u + λf(x,u)$ in a smooth bounded domain $Ω$ of $\R^N$ with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions on $\partialΩ$, where $p^*=Np/(N-p)$ is the critical Sobolev exponent and $Δ_p u =div(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)$ is the $p-$laplacian. The proof is based on variational arguments and the classical concentrated compactness method.

A Free boundary problem for the $p(x)$- Laplacian

We consider the optimization problem of minimizing $\int_Ω|\nabla u|^{p(x)}+ λχ_{\{u>0\}} dx$ in the class of functions $W^{1,p(\cdot)}(Ω)$ with $u-ϕ_0\in W_0^{1,p(\cdot)}(Ω)$, for a given $ϕ_0\geq 0$ and bounded. $W^{1,p(\cdot)}(Ω)$ is the class of weakly differentiable functions with $\int_Ω|\nabla u|^{p(x)} dx<\infty$. We prove that every solution $u$ is locally Lipschitz continuous, that it is a solution to a free boundary problem and that the free boundary, $Ω\cap\partial\{u>0\}$, is a regular surface.
