Serrin problems with vertical boundary behavior

We study Serrin-type overdetermined problems for a class of possibly degenerate elliptic operators under a vertical boundary condition forcing gradient blow-up. We identify the precise regime in which the problem admits a solution on a ball. In this regime, we prove rigidity: every solution domain is a ball, and the solution is uniquely determined by an explicit radial profile.

The prescribed mean curvature equation for $t$-graphs in the sub-Finsler Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$

We study the sub-Finsler prescribed mean curvature equation, associated to a strictly convex body $K_0 \subseteq \mathbb{R}^{2n}$, for $t$-graphs on a bounded domain $Ω$ in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$. When the prescribed datum $H$ is constant and strictly smaller that the Finsler mean curvature of $\partial Ω$, we prove the existence of a Lipschitz solution to the Dirichlet problem for the sub-Finsler CMC equation by means of a Finsler approximation scheme.

Existence and uniqueness of $t$-graphs of prescribed mean curvature in Heisenberg groups

We study the prescribed mean curvature equation for $t$-graphs in a Riemannian Heisenberg group of arbitrary dimension. We characterize the existence of classical solutions in a bounded domain without imposing Dirichlet boundary data, and we provide conditions that guarantee uniqueness. Moreover, we extend previous results to solve the Dirichlet problem when the mean curvature is non-constant. Finally, by an approximation technique, we obtain solutions to the sub-Riemannian prescribed mean curvature equation.

Area-minimizing horizontal graphs with low-regularity in the sub-Finsler Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$

In the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$, equipped with a left-invariant and not necessarily symmetric norm in the horizontal distribution, we provide examples of entire area-minimizing horizontal graphs which are locally Lipschitz in Euclidean sense. A large number of them fail to have further regularity properties. The examples are obtained by prescribing as singular set a horizontal line or a finite union of horizontal half-lines extending from a given point. We also provide examples of families of area-minimizing cones.

Pansu-Wulff shapes in $\mathbb{H}^1$

We consider an asymmetric left-invariant norm $||\cdot ||_K$ in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^1$ induced by a convex body $K\subset\mathbb{R}^2$ containing the origin in its interior. Associated to $\|\cdot\|_K$ there is a perimeter functional, that coincides with the classical sub-Riemannian perimeter in case $K$ is the closed unit disk centered at the origin of $\mathbb{R}^2$. Under the assumption that $K$ has $C^2$ boundary with strictly positive geodesic curvature we compute the first variation formula of perimeter for sets with $C^2$ boundary. The localization of the variational formula in the non-singular part of the boundary, composed of the points where the tangent plane is not horizontal, allows us to define a mean curvature function $H_K$ out of the singular set. In the case of non-vanishing mean curvature, the condition that $H_K$ be constant implies that the non-singular portion of the boundary is foliated by horizontal liftings of translations of $\partial K$ dilated by a factor of $1/H_K$. Based on this we can defined a sphere $\mathbb{S}_K$ with constant mean curvature $1$ by considering the union of all horizontal liftings of $\partial K$ starting from $(0,0,0)$ until they meet again in a point of the vertical axis. We give some geometric properties of this sphere and, moreover, we prove that, up to non-homogeneous dilations and left-translations, they are the only solutions of the sub-Finsler isoperimetric problem in a restricted class of sets.

Existence of isoperimetric regions in sub-Finsler nilpotent groups

We consider a nilpotent Lie group with a bracket-generating distribution $\hhh$ and an asymmetric left-invariant norm $\|\cdot\|_K$ induced by a convex body $K\subseteq\hhh$ containing $0$ in its interior. In this paper we prove the existence of minimizers of the perimeter functional $P_K$ associated to $\|\cdot\|_K$ under a volume (Haar measure) constraint. Our result generalizes the one of Leonardi and Rigot for Carnot groups.
