The trianguline variety for reductive groups

We study the trianguline variety for split connected reductive groups. We generalize a theorem of Breuil, Hellmann, and Schraen about its local structure, establishing smoothness over the loci determined by various regularity conditions on the triangulation parameter, and normality at certain points outside of these smooth loci. Along the way, we prove a crystallinity criterion for $(\varphi,\Gamma_K)$-modules with $\mathsf G$-structure.

Deformations of pseudocharacters and Mazur's finiteness condition

We show that deformation rings $R^{\mathrm{ps}}$ of $G$-pseudocharacters of a profinite group $\Gamma$ are noetherian, when $\Gamma$ satisfies Mazur's finiteness condition. The proof proceeds by reduction to the case when $\Gamma$ is finitely generated, where the result was previously established by the second author. This enables us to extend our work on moduli spaces of $R^{\mathrm{ps}}$-condensed representations of a finitely generated profinite group $\Gamma$, to the groups satisfying Mazur's finiteness condition. We also show that the functor from rigid analytic spaces over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ to sets, which associates to a rigid space $Y$ the set of continuous $\mathcal{O}(Y)$-valued $G$-pseudocharacters of $\Gamma$ is representable by a quasi-Stein rigid analytic space, and we study its general properties. We expect these results to be useful, when studying global Galois representations.

Infinitesimal characters and Lafforgue's pseudocharacters

We associate infinitesimal characters to $p$-adic families of Lafforgue's pseudocharacters of the absolute Galois group of a $p$-adic local field by extending a construction of Dospinescu, Schraen and the first author. We use this construction to study the action of the centre of the universal enveloping algebra on the locally analytic vectors in the Hecke eigenspaces of the completed cohomology.

On local Galois deformation rings: generalised reductive groups

We study deformation theory of mod $p$ Galois representations of $p$-adic fields with values in generalised reductive group schemes, such as $L$-groups and $C$-groups. We show that the corresponding deformation rings are complete intersections of expected dimension. We determine their irreducible components in many cases and show that they and their special fibres are normal and complete intersection.

On local Galois deformation rings: generalised tori

We study deformation theory of mod $p$ Galois representations of $p$-adic fields with values in generalised tori, such as $L$-groups of (possibly non-split) tori. We show that the corresponding deformation rings are formally smooth over a group algebra of a finite abelian $p$-group. We compute their dimension and the set of irreducible components.

Symplectic determinant laws and invariant theory

We introduce the notion of $\textit{symplectic determinant laws}$ by analogy with Chenevier's definition of determinant laws. Symplectic determinant laws are a way to define pseudorepresentations for symplectic representations of algebras with involution over arbitrary $\mathbb{Z}[\frac{1}{2}]$-algebras. We prove that this notion satisfies the properties expected from a good theory of pseudorepresentations, and we compare it to Lafforgue's $\text{Sp}_{2d}$-pseudocharacters. In the process, we compute generators of the invariant algebras $A[M_d^m]^{G}$ and $A[G^m]^G$ over an arbitrary commutative ring $A$ when $G \in \{\text{Sp}_d, \mathrm O_d, \text{GSp}_d, \text{GO}_d\}$, generalizing results of Zubkov.

Deformations of $G$-valued pseudocharacters

We define a deformation space of V. Lafforgue's $G$-valued pseudocharacters of a profinite group $\Gamma$ for a possibly disconnected reductive group $G$. We show, that this definition generalizes Chenevier's construction. We show that the universal pseudodeformation ring is noetherian and that the functor of continuous $G$-pseudocharacters on affinoid $\mathbb{Q}_p$-algebras is represented by a quasi-Stein rigid analytic space, whenever $\Gamma$ is topologically finitely generated. We also show that the pseudodeformation ring is noetherian, when $\Gamma$ satisfies Mazur's condition $\Phi_p$ and $G$ satisfies a certain invariant-theoretic condition. For $G = \mathrm{Sp}_{2n}$ we describe three types of obstructed loci in the special fiber of the universal pseudodeformation space of an arbitrary residual pseudocharacter and give upper bounds for their dimension.
