Duality, polarity and convolution in umbral calculus

In this paper, we revisit foundations of umbral calculus using a straightforward approach based on an explicit matrix realization of binomial convolution. We construct an umbral duality of Wronskian type for rational curves in echelon form, and connect it with an umbral version of the polarity pairing. Then we extend additive convolution to the umbral setting and provide an explicit inversion formula for the corresponding deviation terms. This enables us to derive analogs of Grace and Walsh representation theorems for finite differences.

Koszul complexes and derived intersections

The aim of this article is to provide a complementary understanding to some results of the second author using the machinery of Koszul complexes, and to explain how this approach can provide a new description of projective derived intersections.

Derived intersections and free dg-Lie algebroids

We study free dg-Lie algebroids over arbitrary derived schemes, and compute their universal enveloping and jet algebras. We also introduce derived twisted connections, and relate them with lifts on twisted square zero extensions. This construction allows us to provide new conceptual approaches of existing results concerning the derived deformation theory of subschemes.

Modèles géométriques attachés aux paires réductives

L'objet de cet article d'exposition est de présenter une introduction à l'article "The ext algebra of a quantized cycle" écrit en collaboration avec Damien Calaque, et d'expliquer plus généralement comment le dictionnaire entre théorie de Lie et géométrie algébrique, développé par Calaque, Căldăraru et Tu à la suite des travaux de Kapranov et de Markarian, peut être consolidé au sens où les énoncés géométriques ne sont plus seulement des analogues de résultats algébriques, mais en sont des extensions pour certains objets de Lie dans des catégories dérivées.

Formal moduli problems and formal derived stacks

This paper presents a survey on formal moduli problems. It starts with an introduction to pointed formal moduli problems and a sketch of proof of a Theorem (independently proven by Lurie and Pridham) which gives a precise mathematical formulation for Drinfeld's derived deformation theory philosophy, which gives a correspondence between formal moduli problems and differential graded Lie algebras. The second part deals with Lurie's general theory of deformation contexts, which we present in a slightly different way than the original paper, emphasising the (more symmetric) notion of Koszul duality contexts and morphisms thereof. In the third part, we explain how to apply this machinery to the case of non-split formal moduli problems under a given derived affine scheme; this situation has been dealt with recently by Joost Nuiten, and requires to replace differential graded Lie algebras with differential graded Lie algebroids. In the last part, we globalize this to the more general setting of formal thickenings of derived stacks, and suggest an alternative approach to results of Gaitsgory and Rozenblyum.

The purpose of the paper under review is to explain the main ideas and the main ingredients of the involved and delicate work of A. Eskin, M. Kontsevich and A. Zorich concerning the sum of the positive Lyapunov exponents of the so-called Kontsevich- Zorich cocycle acting on the first cohomology spaces of translation surfaces.

The Ext algebra of a quantized cycle

Given a quantized analytic cycle $(X, σ)$ in $Y$, we give a categorical Lie-theoretic interpretation of a geometric condition, discovered by Shilin Yu, that involves the second formal neighbourhood of $X$ in $Y$. If this condition (that we call tameness) is satisfied, we prove that the derived Ext algebra $\mathcal{RH}om_{\mathcal{O}_Y}(\mathcal{O}_X, \mathcal{O}_X)$ is isomorphic to the universal enveloping algebra of the shifted normal bundle $\mathrm{N}_{X/Y}[-1]$ endowed with a specific Lie structure, strengthening an earlier result of Căldăraru, Tu, and the first author This approach allows to get some conceptual proofs of many important results in the theory: in the case of the diagonal embedding, we recover former results of Kapranov, Markarian, and Ramadoss about (a) the Lie structure on the shifted tangent bundle $\mathrm{T}_X[-1]$ (b) the corresponding universal enveloping algebra (c) the calculation of Kapranov's big Chern classes. We also give a new Lie-theoretic proof of Yu's result for the explicit calculation of the quantized cycle class in the tame case: it is the Duflo element of the Lie algebra object $\mathrm{N}_{X/Y}[-1]$.

Parabolic automorphisms of projective surfaces (after M. H. Gizatullin)

In 1980, Gizatullin classified rational surfaces endowed with an automorphism whose action on the Neron-Severi group is parabolic: these surfaces are endowed with an elliptic fibration invariant by the automorphism. The aim of this expository paper is to present for non-experts the details of Gizatullin's original proof, and to provide an introduction to a recent paper by Cantat and Dolgachev.

Formality of derived intersections

We study derived intersections of smooth analytic cycles, and provide in some cases necessary and sufficient conditions for this intersection be formal. In particular, if X is a complex submanifold of a complex manifold Y, we prove that X can be quantized if and only if the derived intersection of XxX and Δ_Y is formal in D(XxX).

Variation of the holomorphic determinant bundle

In this paper, we prove that the Grothendieck-Riemann-Roch formula in Deligne cohomology computing the determinant of the cohomology of a holomorphic vector bundle on the fibers of a proper submersion between abstract complex manifolds is invariant by deformation of the bundle.
