Computationally efficient orthogonalization for pairwise comparisons method

Orthogonalization is one of few mathematical methods conforming to mathematical standards for approximation. Finding a consistent PC matrix of a given an inconsistent PC matrix is the main goal of a pairwise comparisons method. We introduce an orthogonalization for pairwise comparisons matrix based on a generalized Frobenius inner matrix product. The proposed theory is supported by numerous examples and visualizations.

EP elements in rings with involution

Let $R$ be a unital ring with involution. We first show that the EP elements in $R$ can be characterized by three equations. Namely, let $a\in R$, then $a$ is EP if and only if there exists $x\in R$ such that $(xa)^{\ast}=xa$, $xa^{2}=a$ and $ax^{2}=x.$ It is well known that all EP elements in $R$ are core invertible and Moore-Penrose invertible. We give more equivalent conditions for a core (Moore-Penrose) invertible element to be an EP element. Finally, the EP elements are characterized in terms of $n$-EP property, which is a generalization of bi-EP property.

Existence criteria and expressions of the (b,c)-inverse in rings and its applications

Existence criteria for the $(b,c)$-inverse are given.% in terms of annihilators. We present explicit expressions for the $(b,c)$-inverse by using inner inverses. We answer the question when the $(b,c)$-inverse of $a\in R$ is an inner inverse of $a$. As applications, we give a unified theory of some well-known results of the $\{1,3\}$-inverse, the $\{1,4\}$-inverse, the Moore-Penrose inverse, the group inverse and the core inverse.

On one-sided (B,C)-inverses of arbitrary matrices

In this article one-sided (b, c)-inverses of arbitrary matrices as well as one-sided inverses along a (not necessarily square) matrix, will be studied. In adddition, the (b, c)-inverse and the inverse along an element will be also researched in the context of rectangular matrices.

The inverse along an element in rings

In this article several properties of the inverse along an element will be studied in the context of unitary rings. New characterizations of the existence of this inverse will be proved. Moreover, the set of all invertible elements along a fixed element will be fully described. Futhermore, commuting inverse along an element will be characterized. The special cases of the group inverse, the (generalized) Drazin inverse and the Moore-Penrose inverse (in rings with involutions) will be also considered.

Co-EP Banach Algebra Elements

In this work, given a unital Banach algebra $\A$ and $a\in \A$ such that $a$ has a Moore-Penrose inverse $a^\dagger$, it will be characterized when $aa^\dagger-a^\dagger a$ is invertible. A particular subset of this class of objects will also be studied. In addition, perturbations of this class of elements will be studied. Finally, the Banach space operator case will be also considered.
