Rigged Liouville space formulation for quasi-Hermitian Liouville operators

We discuss a super bra-ket formalism for quasi-Hermitian Liouvillian operators within the framework of rigged Hilbert spaces (RHS). An RHS in terms of the Liouville space, referred to as a rigged Liouville space (RLS), is reconstructed by exploiting the mathematical fact that the space of Hilbert-Schmidt operators is unitarily equivalent to the tensor product of Hilbert spaces. The obtained RLS endows a rigorous foundation of the construction for the super bra-ket and for the spectral decompositions of both Hermitian and quasi-Hermitian Liouville operators, which are characterized by the generalized eigenvectors in the dual spaces. Furthermore, within this framework, the non-Hermitian Liouvillian operator and its adjoint can be constructed symmetrically, with their symmetric structure preserved. As an application of our RLS methodology, we examine the Liouville operators corresponding to Hermitian and non-Hermitian harmonic oscillators and elucidate the differences between their spectral decomposition forms.

Sparse modeling study of extracting charmonium spectral functions from lattice QCD at finite temperature

We present charmonium spectral functions extracted from Euclidean-time correlation functions using sparse modeling (SpM). SpM solves inverse problems by considering only the sparsity of the target solution. To assess the applicability of the method, we first test it with mock data designed to mimic charmonium correlation functions. We demonstrate that while resonance peaks in the spectral functions can be reconstructed using this method, transport peaks are difficult to resolve without introducing further assumptions beyond sparsity. We then apply the method to charmonium correlation functions obtained from lattice QCD at temperatures below and above the critical temperature. The results are found to be qualitatively consistent with those obtained using the maximum entropy method, although the transport peak is not clearly resolved. This indicates that, even when relying solely on the assumption of sparsity, the method can capture some relevant features of the underlying physics.

Rigged Hilbert Space Formulation of Quantum Thermo Field Dynamics and Mapping to Rigged Liouville Space

The rigged Hilbert space, a triplet extension of the Hilbert space, provides a mathematically rigorous foundation for quantum mechanics by extending the Hilbert space to accommodate generalized eigenstates. In this paper, we construct a triplet structure for the thermal space arising in Thermo Field Dynamics with the aid of the tensor product formulation of rigged Hilbert spaces, a formalism that reformulates thermal averages as pure-state expectation values in a doubled Hilbert space. We then induce the rigged Liouville space for Liouville space of density operators from the triplet structure for Thermo Field Dynamics; the rigged Liouville space corresponds isomorphically one-to-one with that of Thermo Field Dynamics. This correspondence offers a unified topological foundation for quantum statistical mechanics at finite temperature and establishes a framework for future generalizations to open and non-equilibrium quantum systems.

Bogoliubov analysis of Higgs mode in trapped Fermi superfluids with spatial inhomogeneity

The Higgs mode is a key component in the spontaneous breaking of a continuous symmetry along with the Nambu-Goldstone mode, and has been studied extensively for homogeneous systems. We consider it for inhomogeneous systems, using the superfluid of harmonically trapped ultracold Fermi atomic gas. The Fermionic field operators are expanded in a complete set of wave functions corresponding to inhomogeneous situation. Within the Hatree-Fock approximation, we derive integral equations from the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations, which lead to the frequencies of the collective modes, including the Higgs and Nambu-Goldstone modes. The results show that the frequency of the Higgs mode equals twice the absolute value of the order parameter at the center of trap. This feature is robust against variations in the interaction strength, trap potential, and temperature. These results are consistent with previous theoretical and experimental studies.

Sparse modeling study to extract spectral functions from lattice QCD data

We present spectral functions extracted from Euclidean-time correlation functions by using sparse modeling. Sparse modeling is a method that solves inverse problems by considering only the sparseness of the solution we seek. To check applicability of the method, we firstly test it with mock data which imitate charmonium correlation functions on a fine lattice. We show that the method can reconstruct the resonance peaks in the spectral functions. Then, we extract charmonium spectral functions from correlation functions obtained from lattice QCD at temperatures below and above the critical temperature $T_{\mathrm{c}}$. We show that this method yields results like those obtained with MEM and other methods.

Quantum Reservoir Computing Using Bose-Einstein Condensate with Damping

Quantum reservoir computing is a type of machine learning in which the high-dimensional Hilbert space of quantum systems contributes to performance. In this study, we employ the Bose-Einstein condensate of dilute atomic gas as a reservoir to examine the effect of reduction in the number of condensed particles, damping, and the nonlinearity of the dynamics. It is observed that for the condensate to function as a reservoir, the physical system requires damping. The nonlinearity of the dynamics improves the performance of the reservoir, while the reduction in the number of condensed particles degrades the performance.

Sparse modeling approach to extract spectral functions with covariance of Euclidean-time correlators of lattice QCD

We present our sparse modeling study to extract spectral functions from Euclidean-time correlation functions. In this study covariance between different Euclidean times of the correlation function is taken into account, which was not done in previous studies. In order to check applicability of the method, we firstly test it with mock data which imitate possible charmonium spectral functions. Then, we extract spectral functions from correlation functions obtained from lattice QCD at finite temperature.

Room-temperature addressing of single rare-earth atoms in optical fiber

Rare-earth (RE) atoms in solid-state materials are attractive components for photonic quantum information systems because of their coherence properties even in high-temperature environments. We have experimentally performed the single-site optical spectroscopy and optical addressing of a single RE atom in an amorphous silica optical fiber at room temperature. The single-site optical spectroscopy of the tapered RE-doped fiber shows nonresonant emission lines similar to those seen in the case of an unstructured fiber and the autocorrelation function of photons emitted from the fiber shows the antibunching effect due to the spatial isolation given by the tapered fiber structure. The ability to address single RE atoms at room temperature provides a very stable and cost-effective technical platform for the realization of a solid-state system for a large-scale quantum optical network and other quantum technologies based on a large number of spectral channels from visible to midinfrared wavelengths.

Rigged Hilbert Space Approach for Non-Hermite Systems with Positive Definite Metric

We investigate Dirac's bra-ket formalism based on a rigged Hilbert space for a non-Hermite quantum system with a positive-definite metric. First, the rigged Hilbert space, characterized by positive-definite metric, is established. With the aid of the nuclear spectral theorem for the obtained rigged Hilbert space, spectral expansions are shown for the bra-kets by the generalized eigenvectors of a quasi-Hermite operator. The spectral expansions are utilized to endow the complete bi-orthogonal system and the transformation theory between the Hermite and non-Hermite systems. As an example of application, we show a specific description of our rigged Hilbert space treatment for some parity-time symmetrical quantum systems.

Dissipation-relaxation dynamics of a spin-1/2 particle with a Rashba-type spin-orbit coupling in an ohmic heat bath

Spin-orbit coupling (SOC), which is inherent to a Dirac particle that moves under the influence of electromagnetic fields, manifests itself in a variety of physical systems including non-relativistic ones. For instance, it plays an essential role in spintronics developed in the past few decades, particularly by controlling spin current generation and relaxation. In the present work, by using an extended Caldeira-Leggett model, we elucidate how the interplay between spin relaxation and momentum dissipation of an open system of a single spin-$1/2$ particle with a Rashba type SOC is induced by the interactions with a spinless, three-dimensional environment. Staring from the path integral formulation for the reduced density matrix of the system, we have derived a set of coupled nonlinear equations that consists of a quasi-classical Langevin equation for the momentum with a frictional term and a spin precession equation. The spin precesses around the effective magnetic field generated by both the SOC and the frictional term. It is found from analytical and numerical solutions to these equations that a spin torque effect included in the effective magnetic field causes a spin relaxation and that the spin and momentum orientations after a long time evolution are largely controlled by the Rashba coupling strength. Such a spin relaxation mechanism is qualitatively different from, e.g., the one encountered in semiconductors where essentially no momentum dissipation occurs due to the Pauli blocking.

Polaron Problems in Ultracold Atoms: Role of a Fermi Sea across Different Spatial Dimensions and Quantum Fluctuations of a Bose Medium

The notion of a polaron, originally introduced in the context of electrons in ionic lattices, helps us to understand how a quantum impurity behaves when being immersed in and interacting with a many-body background. We discuss the impact of the impurities on the medium particles by considering feedback effects from polarons that can be realized in ultracold quantum gas experiments. In particular, we exemplify the modifications of the medium in the presence of either Fermi or Bose polarons. Regarding Fermi polarons we present a corresponding many-body diagrammatic approach operating at finite temperatures and discuss how mediated two- and three-body interactions are implemented within this framework. Utilizing this approach, we analyze the behavior of the spectral function of Fermi polarons at finite temperature by varying impurity-medium interactions as well as spatial dimensions from three to one. Interestingly, we reveal that the spectral function of the medium atoms could be a useful quantity for analyzing the transition/crossover from attractive polarons to molecules in three-dimensions. As for the Bose polaron, we showcase the depletion of the background Bose-Einstein condensate in the vicinity of the impurity atom. Such spatial modulations would be important for future investigations regarding the quantification of interpolaron correlations in Bose polaron problems.

Extracting non-local inter-polaron interactions from collisional dynamics

This study develops a novel experimental method of deducing the profile of interaction induced between impurities in a trapped gas of ultracold Fermi/Bose atoms, which are often referred to as Fermi/Bose polarons. In this method, we consider a two-body Fermi/Bose polaron collision experiment in which impurities and atoms interact only weakly. Numerical simulations of the quantum dynamics reveal the possibility to obtain information regarding the non-local induced interaction between two polarons from a measured profile of the polaron wave packet at several snapshots. This is because the potential of the induced interaction is well balanced by the quantum potential whenever the WKB approximation for the relevant Schrödinger equation is applicable.

Collisional dynamics of polaronic clouds immersed in a Fermi sea

We propose a new protocol to examine many-polaron properties in a cold atom experiment. Initially, polaronic clouds are prepared around the opposite edges of a majority gas cloud. After time evolution, the collision of two clouds exhibits various polaronic effects. To see how {\it collective} properties of many polarons with mediated interactions appear in the case in which the impurity and majority gases are composed of mass-balanced fermions with different spin components, we perform a nonlinear hydrodynamic simulation for collisional dynamics of two Fermi polaronic clouds. We found that the dynamics is governed by the impurity Fermi pressure, polaron energy, and multi-polaron correlations. In particular, shock waves occur in such a way as to reflect the many-body properties of polarons through the first sound of minority clouds. Our idea is applicable to other systems such as Bose polarons as well as mass-imbalanced mixtures.

Persistent homology analysis of deconfinement transition in effective Polyakov-line model

The persistent homology analysis is applied to the effective Polyakov-line model on a rectangular lattice to investigate the confinement-deconfinement nature. The lattice data are mapped onto the complex Polyakov-line plane without taking the spatial average and then the plane is divided into three domains. This study is based on previous studies for the clusters and the percolation properties in lattice QCD, but the mathematical method of the analyses are different. The spatial distribution of the data in the individual domain is analyzed by using the persistent homology to obtain information of the multiscale structure of center clusters. In the confined phase, the data in the three domains show the same topological tendency characterized by the birth and death times of the holes which are estimated via the filtration of the alpha complexes in the data space, but do not in the deconfined phase. By considering the configuration averaged ratio of the birth and death times of holes, we can construct the nonlocal order-parameter of the confinement-deconfinement transition from the multiscale topological properties of center clusters.

Bose polaron in spherical trap potentials: Spatial structure and quantum depletion

We investigate how the presence of a localized impurity in a Bose-Einstein condensate of trapped cold atoms that interact with each other weakly and repulsively affects the profile of the condensed and excited components at zero temperature. By solving the Gross-Pitaevskii and Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations, we find that an impurity-boson contact attraction (repulsion) causes both components to change in spatial structure in such a way as to be enhanced (suppressed) around the impurity, while slightly declining (growing) in a far region from the impurity. Such behavior of the quantum depletion of the condensate can be understood by decomposing the impurity-induced change in the profile of the excited component with respect to the radial and azimuthal quantum number. A significant role of the centrifugal potential and the "hole" excitation level is thus clarified.

Bose-Einstein condensation of dilute alpha clusters above four $α$ threshold in $^{16}$O in field theoretical superfluid cluster model

Observed well-developed $α$ cluster states in $^{16}$O, located above the four $α$ threshold, are investigated from the viewpoint of Bose-Einstein condensation of $α$ clusters by using a field-theoretical superfluid cluster model in which the order parameter is defined. The experimental energy levels are reproduced well for the first time by calculation. In particular, the observed 16.7 MeV $0_7^+$ and 18.8 MeV $0_8^+$ states with low-excitation energies from the threshold are found to be understood as a manifestation of the states of the Nambu-Goldstone zero-mode operators, associated with the spontaneous symmetry breaking of the global phase, which is caused by the Bose-Einstein condensation of the vacuum 15.1 MeV $0^+_6$ state with a dilute well-developed $α$ cluster structure just above the threshold. This gives evidence of the existence of the Bose-Einstein condensate of $α$ clusters in $^{16}$O. It is found that the emergence of the energy level structure with a well-developed $α$ cluster structure above the threshold is robust, almost independently of the condensation rate of $α$ clusters under significant condensation rate. The finding of the mechanism why the level structure that is similar to $^{12}$C emerges above the four $α$ threshold in $^{16}$O reinforces the concept of Bose-Einstein condensation of $α$ clusters in addition to $^{12}$C.

Pion and $ρ$-meson screening masses at finite chemical potential in two-flavor lattice QCD with Wilson fermion

We investigate the real and imaginary chemical-potential dependence of pion and $ρ$-meson screening masses in both the confinement and the deconfinement region by using two-flavor lattice QCD. The spatial meson correlators are calculated in the imaginary chemical potential region with lattice QCD simulations. We extract pion and $ρ$-meson screening masses from the correlators. The obtained meson screening masses are extrapolated to the real chemical potential region by assuming some analytic function. In the real chemical potential region, the resulting pion and $ρ$-meson screening masses monotonically increase as real chemical potential becomes large.

Sign problem in $Z_3$-symmetric effective Polyakov-line model

As an effective model corresponding to $Z_3$-symmetric QCD ($Z_3$-QCD), we construct a $Z_3$-symmetric effective Polyakov-line model ($Z_3$-EPLM) by using the logarithmic fermion effective action. Since $Z_3$-QCD tends to QCD in the zero temperature limit, $Z_3$-EPLM also agrees with the ordinary effective Polyakov-line model (EPLM) there; note that ordinary EPLM does not possess $Z_3$ symmetry. Our main purpose is to discuss a sign problem appearing in $Z_3$-EPLM. The action of $Z_3$-EPLM is real, when the Polyakov line is not only real but also its $Z_3$ images. This suggests that the sign problem becomes milder in $Z_3$-EPLM than in EPLM. In order to confirm this suggestion, we do lattice simulations for both EPLM and $Z_3$-EPLM by using the reweighting method with the phase quenched approximation. In the low-temperature region, the sign problem is milder in $Z_3$-EPLM than in EPLM. We also propose a new reweighting method. This makes the sign problem very weak in $Z_3$-EPLM.
