A Regularity Result for the Incompressible Magnetohydrodynamics Equations with Free Surface Boundary

We consider the three-dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations in a bounded domain with small volume and free moving surface boundary. We establish a priori estimate for solutions with minimal regularity assumptions on the initial data in Lagrangian coordinates. In particular, due to the lack of the Cauchy invariance for MHD equations, the smallness assumption on the fluid domain is required to compensate a loss of control of the flow map. Moreover, we show that the magnetic field has certain regularizing effect which allows us to control the vorticity of the fluid and that of the magnetic field. To the best of our knowledge this is the first result that focuses on the low regularity solution for incompressible free-boundary MHD equations.

Formation of aeroplane-like ZnO and tetrahexahedral Pt nanocrystals: systemic symmetry and symmetry breaking during nanocrystallization

Symmetries are so involved in crystallographic detail that it is indispensable when crystal cell or lattice is mentioned. For nanocrystals, however, many are 'systemic symmetries', meaning that the whole structures of nanocrystal particles are symmetrical from a different view. In that case, the development of the systemic symmetry is dictated by the law of symmetry breaking; that is, nanocrystallization does, to some extent, exceed current theories associated with crystallography.

Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking during Formation of ZnO Nanocrystals

Systemic symmetry is introduced into our work to investigate the symmetries of different ZnO nanocrystals. Result shows that systemic symmetries obey the law of spontaneous symmetry breaking during the formation of ZnO nanocrystals. A unitary formation mechanism of ZnO nanocrystals is proposed accordingly. Our results provide new insight into both crystallization and spontaneous symmetry breaking at meso-scale.
