Asymptotics of stability thresholds

We study asymptotic behavior of the stability thresholds of a big line bundle, and prove explicit bounds on the error terms. This answers Jin--Rubinstein--Tian's questions affirmatively. A key step in our proof is to show that the stability thresholds of a big line bundle can always be computed by quasi-monomial valuations. This generalizes Blum--Jonsson's result on the stability thresholds of an ample line bundle.

$\mathbb{G}_m$-Equivariant Degenerations of del Pezzo Surfaces

We study special $\mathbb{G}_m$-equivariant degenerations of a smooth del Pezzo surface $X$ induced by valuations that are log canonical places of $(X,C)$ for a nodal anti-canonical curve $C$. We show that the space of special valuations in the dual complex of $(X,C)$ is connected and admits a locally finite partition into sub-intervals, each associated to a $\mathbb{G}_m$-equivariant degeneration of $X$. This result is an example of higher rank degenerations of log Fano varieties studied by Liu-Xu-Zhuang, and verifies a global analog of a conjecture on Koll\'ar valuations raised by Liu-Xu. For del Pezzo surfaces with quotient singularities, we obtain a weaker statement about the space of special valuations associated to a normal crossing complement.

Complements and coregularity of Fano varieties

We study the relation between the coregularity, the index of log Calabi-Yau pairs, and the complements of Fano varieties. We show that the index of a log Calabi-Yau pair $(X,B)$ of coregularity $1$ is at most $120\lambda^2$, where $\lambda$ is the Weil index of $K_X+B$. This extends a recent result due to Filipazzi, Mauri, and Moraga. We prove that a Fano variety of absolute coregularity $0$ admits either a $1$-complement or a $2$-complement. In the case of Fano varieties of absolute coregularity $1$, we show that they admit an $N$-complement with $N$ at most 6. Applying the previous results, we prove that a klt singularity of absolute coregularity $0$ admits either a $1$-complement or $2$-complement. Furthermore, a klt singularity of absolute coregularity $1$ admits an $N$-complement with $N$ at most 6. This extends the classic classification of $A,D,E$-type klt surface singularities to arbitrary dimensions. Similar results are proved in the case of coregularity $2$. In the course of the proof, we prove a novel canonical bundle formula for pairs with bounded relative coregularity. In the case of coregularity at least $3$, we establish analogous statements under the assumption of the index conjecture and the boundedness of B-representations.

Patterns of primes in the Sato-Tate conjecture

Fix a non-CM elliptic curve $E/\mathbb{Q}$, and let $a_E(p) = p + 1 - \#E(\mathbb{F}_p)$ denote the trace of Frobenius at $p$. The Sato-Tate conjecture gives the limiting distribution $μ_{ST}$ of $a_E(p)/(2\sqrt{p})$ within $[-1, 1]$. We establish bounded gaps for primes in the context of this distribution. More precisely, given an interval $I\subseteq [-1, 1]$, let $p_{I,n}$ denote the $n$th prime such that $a_E(p)/(2\sqrt{p})\in I$. We show $\liminf_{n\to\infty}(p_{I,n+m}-p_{I,n}) < \infty$ for all $m\ge 1$ for "most" intervals, and in particular, for all $I$ with $μ_{ST}(I)\ge 0.36$. Furthermore, we prove a common generalization of our bounded gap result with the Green-Tao theorem. To obtain these results, we demonstrate a Bombieri-Vinogradov type theorem for Sato-Tate primes.

Counting Shellings of Complete Bipartite Graphs and Trees

A shelling of a graph, viewed as an abstract simplicial complex that is pure of dimension 1, is an ordering of its edges such that every edge is adjacent to some other edges appeared previously. In this paper, we focus on complete bipartite graphs and trees. For complete bipartite graphs, we obtain an exact formula for their shelling numbers. And for trees, we relate their shelling numbers to linear extensions of tree posets and bound shelling numbers using vertex degrees and diameter.

Heron triangle and rhombus pairs with a common area and a common perimeter

By Fermat's method, we show that there are infinitely many Heron triangle and $θ$-integral rhombus pairs with a common area and a common perimeter. Moreover, we prove that there does not exist any integral isosceles triangle and $θ$-integral rhombus pairs with a common area and a common perimeter.
