Intertwining operators beyond the Stark Effect

The main mathematical manifestation of the Stark effect in quantum mechanics is the shift and the formation of clusters of eigenvalues when a spherical Hamiltonian is perturbed by lower order terms. Understanding this mechanism turned out to be fundamental in the description of the large-time asymptotics of the associated Schrödinger groups and can be responsible for the lack of dispersion in Fanelli, Felli, Fontelos and Primo [Comm. Math. Phys., 324(2013), 1033-1067; 337(2015), 1515-1533]. Recently, Miao, Su, and Zheng introduced in [Tran. Amer. Math. Soc., 376(2023), 1739--1797] a family of spectrally projected intertwining operators, reminiscent of the Kato's wave operators, in the case of constant perturbations on the sphere (inverse-square potential), and also proved their boundedness in $L^p$. Our aim is to establish a general framework in which some suitable intertwining operators can be defined also for non constant spherical perturbations in space dimensions 2 and higher. In addition, we investigate the mapping properties between $L^p$-spaces of these operators. In 2D, we prove a complete result, for the Schrödinger Hamiltonian with a (fixed) magnetic potential an electric potential, both scaling critical, allowing us to prove dispersive estimates, uniform resolvent estimates, and $L^p$-bounds of Bochner--Riesz means. In higher dimensions, apart from recovering the example of inverse-square potential, we can conjecture a complete result in presence of some symmetries (zonal potentials), and open some interesting spectral problems concerning the asymptotics of eigenfunctions.

Massless Dirac equation on spinor bundles over real hyperbolic spaces

We prove a sharp-in-time dispersive estimate of the Dirac equation on spinor bundles over the real hyperbolic space. Compared with the Euclidean counterparts, our result shows that the dispersive estimate differs between short and long times, reflecting the intuitive influence of negative curvature on the dispersion. Moreover, the well-known equivalence between dispersive estimates for Dirac and wave propagators in the Euclidean setting no longer holds in this context. This finding suggests that spinor fields are affected by the geometry at infinity of the manifold. As a key application, we establish an improved global-in-time Strichartz estimate, in the sense that there is no loss of angular derivatives and the admissible set is larger than previously known results in other settings.

Global-in-time Strichartz estimates and cubic Schrödinger equation in a conical singular space

In this paper, we study Strichartz estimates for the Schrödinger equation on a metric cone $X$, where $X=C(Y)=(0,\infty)_r\times Y$ and the cross section $Y$ is a $(n-1)$-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold $(Y,h)$. For the metric $g$ on $X$ given by $g=dr^2+r^2h$, let $Δ_g$ be the positive Friedrichs extension Laplacian on $X$ and $V=V_0 r^{-2}$ where $V_0\in\CC^\infty(Y)$ is a real function such that the operator $P:=Δ_h+V_0+(n-2)^2/4$ is a strictly positive operator on $L^2(Y)$. We establish the full range of global-in-time Strichartz estimates without loss for the Schrödinger equation associated with the operator $\LL_V=Δ_g+V_0 r^{-2}$ including the endpoint estimate both in homogeneous and inhomogeneous cases. A new finding reveals that the range of admissible pairs at $\dot H^s$-level is influenced by the smallest eigenvalue of the operator $P$. This additionally proves the conjecture in Wang [Ann. Inst. Fourier 2006] and generalizes the results of Ford [Comm. Math. Phys. 2010] and Baskin-Marzuola-Wunsch [Contemp. Math. 2014]. As an application, we show the well-posedness theory and scattering theory for the Schrödinger equation with a cubic nonlinearity on this setting which verifies a conjecture in Baskin-Marzuola-Wunsch [Contemp. Math. 2014].

Decay estimates for one Aharonov-Bohm solenoid in a uniform magnetic field I: Schrödinger equation

This is the first of a series of papers in which we investigate the decay estimates for dispersive equations with Aharonov-Bohm solenoids in a uniform magnetic field. In this first starting paper, we prove the local-in-time dispersive estimates and Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger equation with one Aharonov-Bohm solenoid in a uniform magnetic field. The key ingredient is the construction of Schrödinger propagator, we provide two methods to construct the propagator. The first one is combined the strategies of \cite{FFFP1} and \cite{GYZZ22, FZZ22}, and the second one is based on the Schulman-Sunada formula in sprit of \cite{stov, stov1} in which the heat kernel has been studied. In future papers, we will continue investigating this quantum model for wave with one or multiple Aharonov-Bohm solenoids in a uniform magnetic field.

Decay estimates for one Aharonov-Bohm solenoid in a uniform magnetic field II: wave equation

This is the second of a series of papers in which we investigate the decay estimates for dispersive equations with Aharonov-Bohm solenoids in a uniform magnetic field. In our first starting paper \cite{WZZ}, we have studied the Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger equation with one Aharonov-Bohm solenoid in a uniform magnetic field. The wave equation in this setting becomes more delicate since a difficulty is raised from the square root of the eigenvalue of the Schrödinger operator $H_{α, B_0}$ so that we cannot directly construct the half-wave propagator. An independent interesting result concerning the Gaussian upper bounds of the heat kernel is proved by using two different methods. The first one is based on establishing Davies-Gaffney inequality in this setting and the second one is straightforward to construct the heat kernel (which efficiently captures the magnetic effects) based on the Schulman-Sunada formula. As byproducts, we prove optimal bounds for the heat kernel and show the Bernstein inequality and the square function inequality for Schrödinger operator with one Aharonov-Bohm solenoid in a uniform magnetic field.

Heat kernel estimate in a conical singular space

Let $(X,g)$ be a product cone with the metric $g=dr^2+r^2h$, where $X=C(Y)=(0,\infty)_r\times Y$ and the cross section $Y$ is a $(n-1)$-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold $(Y,h)$. We study the upper boundedness of heat kernel associated with the operator $L_V=-Δ_g+V_0 r^{-2}$, where $-Δ_g$ is the positive Friedrichs extension Laplacian on $X$ and $V=V_0(y) r^{-2}$ and $V_0\in\mathcal{C}^\infty(Y)$ is a real function such that the operator $-Δ_h+V_0+(n-2)^2/4$ is a strictly positive operator on $L^2(Y)$.The new ingredient of the proof is the Hadamard parametrix and finite propagation speed of wave operator on $Y$.

A toy model for the relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell system

The global-in-time existence of classical solutions to the relativistic Vlasov-Maxwell (RVM) system in three space dimensions remains elusive after nearly four decades of mathematical research. In this note, a simplified ``toy model'' is presented and studied. This toy model retains one crucial aspect of the RVM system: the phase-space evolution of the distribution function is governed by a transport equation whose forcing term satisfies a wave equation with finite speed of propagation.

Dispersive estimates for two-particles Schrödinger and wave equations in the Aharonov-Bohm field

We study the dispersive behaviors of two-particles Schrödinger and wave equations in the Aharonov-Bohm field. In particular, we prove the Strichartz estimates for Schrödinger and wave equations in this setting. The key point is to construct spectral measure of Schrödinger operator with an Aharonov-Bohm type potential in $\R^4$. As applications, we finally prove a scattering theory for the nonlinear defocusing subcritical two-particles Schrödinger equation with Aharonov-Bohm potential.

Uniform resolvent estimates for critical magnetic Schrödinger operators in 2D

We study the $L^p-L^q$-type uniform resolvent estimates for 2D-Schrödinger operators in scaling-critical magnetic fields, involving the Aharonov-Bohm model as a main example. As an application, we prove localization estimates for the eigenvalue of some non self-adjoint zero-order perturbations of the magnetic Hamiltonian.

Reversed Strichartz estimates for wave on non-trapping asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds and applications

We provide reversed Strichartz estimates for the shifted wave equations on non-trapping asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds using cluster estimates for spectral projectors proved previously in such generality. As a consequence, we solve a problem left open in \cite{SSWZ} about the endpoint case for global well-posedness of nonlinear wave equations. We also provide estimates in this context for the maximal wave operator.

Decay and Strichartz estimates in critical electromagnetic fields

We study the $L^1\to L^\infty$-decay estimates for dispersive equations in the Aharonov-Bohm magnetic fields, and further prove Strichartz estimates for the Klein-Gordon equation with critical electromagnetic potentials. The novel ingredients are the construction of Schwartz kernels of the spectral measure and heat propagator for the Schrödinger operator in Aharonov-Bohm magnetic fields. In particular, we explicitly construct the representation of the spectral measure and resolvent of the Schrödinger operator with Aharonov-Bohm potentials, and show that the heat kernel in critical electromagnetic fields satisfies Gaussian boundedness. In future papers, this result on the spectral measure will be used to (i) study the uniform resolvent estimates, and (ii) prove the $L^p$-regularity property of wave propagation in the same setting.

Global Strichartz estimates for the Dirac equation on symmetric spaces

In this paper we study global-in-time, weighted Strichartz estimates for the Dirac equation on warped product spaces in dimension $n\geq3$. In particular, we prove estimates for the dynamics restricted to eigenspaces of the Dirac operator on the compact spin manifolds defining the ambient manifold under some explicit sufficient condition on the metric, and estimates with loss of angular derivatives for general initial data in the setting of spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat manifolds.

Resolvent and spectral measure for Schrödinger operators on flat Euclidean cones

We construct the Schwartz kernel of resolvent and spectral measure for Schrödinger operators on the flat Euclidean cone $(X,g)$, where $X=C(\mathbb{S}_σ^1)=(0,\infty)\times \mathbb{S}_σ^1$ is a product cone over the circle, $\mathbb{S}_σ^1=\R/2πσ\Z$, with radius $σ>0$ and the metric $g=dr^2+r^2 dθ^2$. As products, we prove the dispersive estimates for the Schrödinger and half-wave propagators in this setting.

Dispersive estimates for 2D-wave equations with critical potentials

We study the 2D-wave equation with a scaling-critical electromagnetic potential. This problem is doubly critical, because of the scaling invariance of the model and the singularities of the potentials, which are not locally integrable. In particular, the diamagnetic phenomenon allows to consider negative electric potential which can be singular in the same fashion as the inverse-square potential. We prove sharp time-decay estimates in the purely magnetic case, and Strichartz estimates for the complete model, involving a critical electromagnetic field.

Generalized Strichartz estimates for wave and Dirac equations in Aharonov-Bohm magnetic fields

We prove generalized Strichartz estimates for wave and massless Dirac equations in Aharonov-Bohm magnetic fields. Following a well established strategy to deal with scaling critical perturbations of dispersive PDEs, we make use of Hankel transform and rely on some precise estimates on Bessel functions. As a complementary result, we prove a local smoothing estimate for the Klein-Gordon equation in the same magnetic field.

Restriction estimates in a conical singular space: wave equation

We study the restriction estimates in a class of conical singular space $X=C(Y)=(0,\infty)_r\times Y$ with the metric $g=\mathrm{d}r^2+r^2h$, where the cross section $Y$ is a compact $(n-1)$-dimensional closed Riemannian manifold $(Y,h)$. Let $Δ_g$ be the Friedrich extension positive Laplacian on $X$, and consider the operator $\mathcal{L}_V=Δ_g+V$ with $V=V_0r^{-2}$, where $V_0(θ)\in\mathcal{C}^\infty(Y)$ is a real function such that the operator $Δ_h+V_0+(n-2)^2/4$ is positive. In the present paper, we prove a type of modified restriction estimates for the solutions of wave equation associated with $\mathcal{L}_V$. The smallest positive eigenvalue of the operator $Δ_h+V_0+(n-2)^2/4$ plays an important role in the result. As an application, for independent of interests, we prove local energy estimates and Keel-Smith-Sogge estimates for the wave equation in this setting.

Strichartz estimates for the Klein-Gordon equation in a conical singular space

We study the Klein-Gordon equations with inverse-square potentials in the space $X$, proving in particular global-in-time Strichartz estimates in this setting.
