Measurements of $π^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$ and proton yields from the surface of the T2K replica target for incoming 31 GeV/c protons with the NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN SPS

Measurements of the $π^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$, and proton double differential yields emitted from the surface of the 90-cm-long carbon target (T2K replica) were performed for the incoming 31 GeV/c protons with the NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN SPS using data collected during 2010 run. The double differential $π^{\pm}$ yields were measured with increased precision compared to the previously published NA61/SHINE results, while the $K^{\pm}$ and proton yields were obtained for the first time. A strategy for dealing with the dependence of the results on the incoming proton beam profile is proposed. The purpose of these measurements is to reduce significantly the (anti)neutrino flux uncertainty in the T2K long-baseline neutrino experiment by constraining the production of (anti)neutrino ancestors coming from the T2K target.

Dedicated $Δ$E-E detector system for searching long lived heaviest nuclei deposited in scintillators

We present a dedicated experimental setup which is currently used to search for long lived super heavy elements (SHE) implanted in catcher scintillators which were irradiated by reaction products of $^{197}$Au (7.5 A.MeV) projectile and $^{232}$Th target collisions during our experiment performed at Cyclotrone Institute, Texas A$\&$M University in 2015. The built-in novel measuring apparatus consists of $Δ$E-E detector pairs which are able to register $α$ or spontaneous fission (SF) decays of heavy reaction products deposited in the scintillators. Their unique feature is that the examined scintillators are at the same time $Δ$E part of each of $Δ$E-E detector while E part is a silicon detector. Our apparatus is dedicated to search for SHEs which have a lifetime of a year till tens of years. Results of commissioning tests of our setup are presented.

TOF-PET detector concept based on organic scintillators

In this contribution we present a new concept of the large acceptance detector systems based on organic scintillators which may allow for simultaneous diagnostic of large fraction of the human body. Novelty of the concept lies in employing large blocks of polymer scintillators instead of crystals as detectors of annihilation quanta, and in using predominantly the timing of signals instead of their amplitudes.

STRIP-PET: a novel detector concept for the TOF-PET scanner

We briefly present a design of a new PET scanner based on strips of polymer scintillators arranged in a barrel constituting a large acceptance detector. The solution proposed is based on the superior timing properties of the polymer scintillators. The position and time of the reaction of the gamma quanta in the detector material will be determined based on the time of arrival of light signals to the edges of the scintillator strips.
