Fractional Compound Poisson Random Fields on Plane

We study a compound Poisson random field on plane and examine its various fractional variants. We derive the distributions of these random fields and in some particular cases, obtain their associated system of governing differential equations. Additionally, various weak convergence results are derived. Also, we introduce and study some fractional variants of the Poisson random field (PRF) that includes the space fractional and the space-time fractional Poisson random fields. We discuss various distributional properties for the fractional PRFs and obtain their time-changed representations. Lastly, we define and study some fractional compound Poisson random fields using the fractional variants of PRF.

On Elephant Random Walk with Random Memory

In this paper, we introduce the elephant random walk (ERW) with memory consisting of randomly selected steps from its history. It is a time-changed variant of the standard elephant random walk with memory consisting of its full history. At each time point, the time changing component is the composition of two uniformly distributed independent random variables with support over all the past steps. Several conditional distributional properties including the conditional mean increments and conditional displacement of ERW with random memory are obtained. Using these conditional results, we derive the recursive and explicit expressions for the mean increments and mean displacement of the walk.

On Erlang Queue with Multiple Arrivals and its Time-changed Variant

We introduce and study a queue with the Erlang service system and whose arrivals are governed by a counting process in which there is a possibility of finitely many arrivals in an infinitesimal time interval. We call it the Erlang queue with multiple arrivals. Some of its distributional properties are obtained that includes the state-phase probabilities, the mean queue length and the distribution of busy period etc. Also, we study a time-changed variant of it by subordinating it with an independent inverse stable subordinator where we obtain its state probabilities and the mean queue length.

Iterated Generalized Counting Process and its Extensions

In this paper, we study the composition of two independent GCPs which we call the iterated generalized counting process (IGCP). Its distributional properties such as the transition probabilities, probability generating function, state probabilities and its corresponding Lévy measure are obtained. We study some integrals of the IGCP. Also, we study some of its extensions, for example, the compound IGCP, the multivariate IGCP and the $q$-iterated GCP. It is shown that the IGCP and the compound IGCP are identically distributed to a compound GCP which leads to their martingale characterizations. Later, a time-changed version of the IGCP is considered where the time is changed by an inverse stable subordinator. Using its covariance structure, we establish that the time-changed IGCP exhibits long-range dependence property. Moreover, we show that its increment process exhibits short-range dependence property. Also, it is shown that its one-dimensional distributions are not infinitely divisible. Initially, some of its potential real life applications are discussed.

On Time-Changed Linear Birth-Death Process with Immigration at Extinction

We study an immigration effect in the time-changed linear birth-death process where the immigration occurs only if the population goes extinct. We call this process as the time-fractional linear birth-death process with immigration (TFLBDPwI). Its transient probabilities are obtained using the Adomian decomposition method. In a particular case, we discuss the accuracy of approximation for the obtained transient probabilities. Also, the first two moments of TFLBDPwI are derived. Later, we consider some particular cases of the TFLBDPwI and study their distributional properties in detail.

On Transient Probabilities of Fractional Birth-Death Process

We study a fractional birth-death process with state dependent birth and death rates. It is defined using a system of fractional differential equations that generalizes the classical birth-death process introduced by Feller (1939). We obtain the closed form expressions for its transient probabilities using Adomian decomposition method. In this way, we obtain the unknown transient probabilities for the classical birth-death process (see Feller (1968), p. 454). Its various distributional properties are studied. For the case of linear birth and death rates, the obtained results are verified with the existing results. Also, we discuss the cumulative births in the fractional linear birth-death process. Later, we consider a time-changed linear birth-death process where we discuss the asymptotic behaviour of the distribution function of its extinction time at zero.

Generalized Birth-Death Process on Finite Lattice

We consider a generalized birth-death process (GBDP) whose state space is a finite subset of a $q$-dimensional lattice. It is assumed that there can be a jump of finite step size in all possible directions such that the probability of simultaneous transition in more than one direction is zero. Such processes are of interest as their transition probability matrix is diagonalizable under suitable conditions. Thus, their $k$-step transition probabilities can be efficiently obtained. For GBDP on two-dimensional finite grid, we obtain a sufficient and necessary condition for the vertical and horizontal transition probability matrices to commute. Later, we extend these results to the case of $q$-dimensional finite grid. We obtain the minimum number of constraints required on transition probabilities that ensure the commutation of transition probability matrices for each possible direction.

On the Multivariate Generalized Counting Process and its Time-Changed Variants

In this paper, we study a multivariate version of the generalized counting process (GCP) and discuss its various time-changed variants. The time is changed using random processes such as the stable subordinator, inverse stable subordinator, and their composition, tempered stable subordinator, gamma subordinator $etc.$ Several distributional properties that include the probability generating function, probability mass function and their governing differential equations are obtained for these variants. It is shown that some of these time-changed processes are Lévy and for such processes we have derived the associated Lévy measure. The explicit expressions for the covariance and codifference of the component processes for some of these time-changed variants are obtained. An application of the multivariate generalized space fractional counting process to shock models is discussed.

Fractional Poisson Random Fields on $\mathbb{R}^2_+$

In this paper, we consider a fractional Poisson random field (FPRF) on positive plane. It is defined as a process whose one dimensional distribution is the solution of a system of fractional partial differential equations. A time-changed representation for the FPRF is given in terms of the composition of Poisson random field with a bivariate random process. Some integrals of the FPRF are introduced and studied. Using the Adomian decomposition method, a closed form expression for its probability mass function is obtained in terms of the generalized Wright function. Some results related to the order statistics of random numbers of random variables are presented. Also, we introduce a generalization of Poisson random field on $\mathbb{R}^d_+$, $d\ge1$ which reduces to the Poisson random field in a special case. For $d=1$, it further reduces to a generalized Poisson process (GPP). A time-changed representation for the GPP is established. Moreover, we construct a time-changed linear and planer random motions of a particle driven by the GPP. The conditional distribution of the random position of particle is derived. Later, we define the compound fractional Poisson random field via FPRF. Also, a generalized version of it on $\mathbb{R}^d_+$, $d\ge1$ is discussed.

On the Superposition and Thinning of Generalized Counting Processes

In this paper, we study the merging and splitting of generalized counting processes (GCPs). First, we study the merging of a finite number of independent GCPs and then extend it to the case of countably infinite. The merged process is observed to be a GCP with increased arrival rates. It is shown that a packet of jumps arrives in the merged process according to the Poisson process. Also, we study two different types of splitting of a GCP. In the first type, we study the splitting of jumps of a GCP where the probability of simultaneous jumps in the split components is negligible. In the second type, we consider the splitting of jumps in which there is a possibility of simultaneous jumps in the split components. It is shown that the split components are GCPs with certain decreased jump rates. Moreover, the independence of split components is established. Later, we discuss applications of the obtained results to industrial fishing problem and hotel booking management system.

On the Generalized Birth-Death Process and its Linear Versions

In this paper, we consider a generalized birth-death process (GBDP) and examined its linear versions. Using its transition probabilities, we obtain the system of differential equations that governs its state probabilities. The distribution function of its waiting-time in state $s$ given that it starts in state $s$ is obtained. For a linear version of it, namely, the generalized linear birth-death process (GLBDP), we obtain the probability generating function, mean, variance and the probability of ultimate extinction of population. Also, we obtain the maximum likelihood estimate of one of its parameter. The differential equations that govern the joint cumulant generating functions of the population size with cumulative births and cumulative deaths are derived. In the case of constant birth and death rates in GBDP, the explicit forms of the state probabilities, joint probability mass functions of population size with cumulative births and cumulative deaths, and their marginal probability mass functions are obtained. It is shown that the Laplace transform of a stochastic integral of GBDP satisfies its Kolmogorov backward equation with certain scaled parameters. Also, the first two moments of the stochastic path integral of GLBDP are obtained. Later, we consider the immigration effect in GLBDP for two different cases. An application of a linear version of GBDP and its stochastic path integral to vehicles parking management system is discussed.

Generalized Counting Process: its Non-Homogeneous and Time-Changed Versions

We introduce a non-homogeneous version of the generalized counting process (GCP), namely, the non-homogeneous generalized counting process (NGCP). We time-change the NGCP by an independent inverse stable subordinator to obtain its fractional version, and call it as the non-homogeneous generalized fractional counting process (NGFCP). A generalization of the NGFCP is obtained by time-changing the NGCP with an independent inverse subordinator. We derive the system of governing differential-integral equations for the marginal distributions of the increments of NGCP, NGFCP and its generalization. Then, we consider the GCP time-changed by a multistable subordinator and obtain its Lévy measure, associated Bernštein function and distribution of the first passage times. The GCP and its fractional version, that is, the generalized fractional counting process when time-changed by a Lévy subordinator are known as the time-changed generalized counting process-I (TCGCP-I) and the time-changed generalized fractional counting process-I (TCGFCP-I), respectively. We obtain the distribution of first passage times and related governing equations for the TCGCP-I. An application of the TCGCP-I to ruin theory is discussed. We obtain the conditional distribution of the $k$th order statistic from a sample whose size is modelled by a particular case of TCGFCP-I, namely, the time fractional negative binomial process. Later, we consider a fractional version of the TCGCP-I and obtain the system of differential equations that governs its state probabilities. Its mean, variance, covariance, {\it etc.} are obtained and using which its long-range dependence property is established. Some results for its two particular cases are obtained.

Some Compound Fractional Poisson Processes

In this paper, we introduce and study fractional versions of three compound Poisson processes, namely, the Bell-Touchard process, the Poisson-logarithmic process and the generalized Pólya-Aeppli process. It is shown that these processes are limiting cases of a recently introduced process by Di Crescenzo et al. (2016), namely, the generalized counting process. We obtain the mean, variance, covariance, long-range dependence property etc. for these processes. Also, we obtain several equivalent forms of the one-dimensional distribution of fractional versions of these processes.

Generalized Fractional Birth Process

In this paper, we introduce a generalized birth process (GBP) which performs jumps of size $1,2,\dots,k$ whose rates depend on the state of the process at time $t\geq0$. We derive a non-exploding condition for it. The system of differential equations that governs its state probabilities is obtained. In this governing system of differential equations, we replace the first order derivative with Caputo fractional derivative to obtain a fractional variant of the GBP, namely, the generalized fractional birth process (GFBP). The Laplace transform of the state probabilities of this fractional variant is obtained whose inversion yields its one-dimensional distribution. It is shown that the GFBP is equal in distribution to a time-changed version of the GBP, and this result is used to obtain a non-exploding condition for it. A limiting case of the GFBP is considered in which jump of any size $j\ge1$ is possible. Also, we discuss a state dependent version of it.

Skellam and Time-Changed Variants of the Generalized Fractional Counting Process

In this paper, we study a Skellam type variant of the generalized counting process (GCP), namely, the generalized Skellam process. Some of its distributional properties such as the probability mass function, probability generating function, mean, variance and covariance are obtained. Its fractional version, namely, the generalized fractional Skellam process (GFSP) is considered by time-changing it with an independent inverse stable subordinator. It is observed that the GFSP is a Skellam type version of the generalized fractional counting process (GFCP) which is a fractional variant of the GCP. It is shown that the one-dimensional distributions of the GFSP are not infinitely divisible. An integral representation for its state probabilities is obtained. We establish its long-range dependence property by using its variance and covariance structure. Also, we consider two time-changed versions of the GFCP. These are obtained by time-changing the GFCP by an independent Lévy subordinator and its inverse. Some particular cases of these time-changed processes are discussed by considering specific Lévy subordinators.

Generalized Fractional Counting Process

In this paper, we obtain additional results for a fractional counting process introduced and studied by Di Crescenzo et al. (2016). For convenience, we call it the generalized fractional counting process (GFCP). It is shown that the one-dimensional distributions of the GFCP are not infinitely divisible. Its covariance structure is studied using which its long-range dependence property is established. It is shown that the increments of GFCP exhibits the short-range dependence property. Also, we prove that the GFCP is a scaling limit of some continuous time random walk. A particular case of the GFCP, namely, the generalized counting process (GCP) is discussed for which we obtain a limiting result, a martingale result and establish a recurrence relation for its probability mass function. We have shown that many known counting processes such as the Poisson process of order $k$, the Pólya-Aeppli process of order $k$, the negative binomial process and their fractional versions etc. are other special cases of the GFCP. An application of the GCP to risk theory is discussed.

Fractional Skellam Process of Order $k$

We introduce and study a fractional version of the Skellam process of order $k$ by time-changing it with an independent inverse stable subordinator. We call it the fractional Skellam process of order $k$ (FSPoK). An integral representation for its one-dimensional distributions and their governing system of fractional differential equations are obtained. We derive the probability generating function, mean, variance and covariance of the FSPoK which are utilized to establish its long-range dependence property. Later, we considered two time-changed versions of the FSPoK. These are obtained by time-changing the FSPoK by an independent Lévy subordinator and its inverse. Some distributional properties and particular cases are discussed for these time-changed processes.

Convoluted Fractional Poisson Process

In this paper, we introduce and study a convoluted version of the time fractional Poisson process by taking the discrete convolution with respect to space variable in the system of fractional differential equations that governs its state probabilities. We call the introduced process as the convoluted fractional Poisson process (CFPP). The explicit expression for the Laplace transform of its state probabilities are obtained whose inversion yields its one-dimensional distribution. Some of its statistical properties such as probability generating function, moment generating function, moments etc. are obtained. A special case of CFPP, namely, the convoluted Poisson process (CPP) is studied and its time-changed subordination relationships with CFPP are discussed. It is shown that the CPP is a Lévy process using which the long-range dependence property of CFPP is established. Moreover, we show that the increments of CFPP exhibits short-range dependence property.
