Twist-3 contributions to wide-angle photoproduction of pions

We investigate wide-angle pi^0 photoproduction within the handbag approach to twist-3 accuracy. In contrast to earlier work both the 2-particle as well as the 3-particle twist-3 contributions are taken into account. It is shown that both are needed for consistent results that respect gauge invariance and crossing properties. The numerical studies reveal the dominance of the twist-3 contribution. With it fair agreement with the recent CLAS measurement of the pi^0 cross section is obtained. We briefly comment also on wide-angle photoproduction of other pseudoscalar mesons.

Hard Excluseive $Φ$ and $J/Ψ$ Photoproduction off a Proton

We study the photoproduction of the vector mesons $Φ$ and $J/Ψ$ off a proton in the kinematical regime of large energies and scattering angles within the framework of perturbative QCD. Our investigations are based on the hard scattering approach. This means that the hadrons are replaced by their valence Fock states and scattering on the partonic level is described by tree graphs in which the large transferred momentum is redistributed between the valence partons via the exchange of hard gluons. We find that the unpolarized photoproduction cross sections are dominated by Compton-scattering-like graphs in which the photon couples to the proton, whereas vector-meson-dominance-like graphs, in which the photon fluctuates into the heavy quark-antiquark pair which then exchanges two gluons with the proton, play a minor role. We give explicit predictions for unpolarized scattering cross sections and compare them with experimental data where possible.

Nucleon Form Factors to Next-to-Leading Order with Light-Cone Sum Rules

We have calculated the leading-twist next-to-leading order (NLO), i.e., O(alpha_s), correction to the light-cone sum-rules prediction for the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon. We have used the Ioffe nucleon interpolation current and worked in M_N=0 approximation, with M_N being the mass of the nucleon. In this approximation, only the Pauli form factor F_2 receives a correction and the calculated correction is quite sizable (cca 60%). The numerical results for the proton form factors show the improved agreement with the experimental data. We also discuss the problems encountered when going away from M_N=0 approximation at NLO, as well as, gauge invariance of the perturbative results. This work presents the first step towards the NLO accuracy in the light-cone sum rules for baryon form factors.

GPD sum rules: a tool to reveal the quark angular momentum

In deeply virtual exclusive electroproduction to leading order accuracy one accesses generalized parton distributions on their cross-over trajectory. Combining Lorentz covariance and analyticity leads to a family of GPD sum rules, guiding us to phenomenological concepts. As an example, we discuss the constraints from the JLAB/Hall A data on the GPD $E$. Its first Mellin moment is the anomalous gravitomagnetic moment, which is the unknown contribution to the quark angular momentum.

Towards a fitting procedure for deeply virtual Compton scattering at next-to-leading order and beyond

Combining dispersion and operator product expansion techniques, we derive the conformal partial wave decomposition of the virtual Compton scattering amplitude in terms of complex conformal spin to twist-two accuracy. The perturbation theory predictions for the deeply virtual Compton scattering (DVCS) amplitude are presented in next-to-leading order for both conformal and modified minimal subtraction scheme. Within a conformal subtraction scheme, where we exploit predictive power of conformal symmetry, the radiative corrections are presented up to next-to-next-to-leading order accuracy. Here, because of the trace anomaly, the mixing of conformal moments of generalized parton distributions (GPD) at the three-loop level remains unknown. Within a new proposed parameterization for GPDs, we then study the convergence of perturbation theory and demonstrate that our formalism is suitable for a fitting procedure of DVCS observables.

Deeply virtual Compton scattering beyond next-to-leading order: the flavor singlet case

We study radiative corrections to deeply virtual Compton scattering in the kinematics of HERA collider experiments to next--to--leading and next--to--next--to--leading order. In the latter case the radiative corrections are evaluated in a special scheme that allows us to employ the predictive power of conformal symmetry. As observed before, the size of next--to--leading order corrections strongly depends on the gluonic input, as gluons start to contribute at this order. Beyond next--to--leading order we find, in contrast, that the corrections for an input scale of few GeV^2 are small enough to justify the uses of perturbation theory. For $ξ> 5 10^{-3}$ the modification of the scale dependence is also small. However, with decreasing $ξ$ it becomes moderate or even large, in particular for the phase.

Quarkonia decays into two photons induced by the space-time non-commutativity

In this article we propose standard model strictly forbidden decay modes, quarkonia (QQ(1^{--}) = J/psi, Upsilon) decays into two photons, as a possible signature of the space-time non-commutativity. An experimental discovery of J/psi -> gamma gamma and/or Upsilon -> gamma gamma processes would certainly indicate a violation of the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Yang theorem and a definitive appearance of new physics.

The Standard Model on Non-Commutative Space-Time: Strong Interactions Included

This paper is a direct extension of our paper: "The Standard Model on Non-Commutative Space-Time: Electroweak currents and Higgs sector", hep-ph/0502249, now with strong interactions included. Apart from the non-commutative corrections to Standard Model strong interactions, several new interactions appear. The most interesting ones are gluonic interactions with the electroweak sector. They are elaborated here in detail and the Feynman rules for interactions up to O(gs^2 theta) are provided.

The Standard Model on Non-Commutative Space-Time: Electroweak Currents and Higgs Sector

In this article we review the electroweak charged and neutral currents in the Non-Commutative Standard Model (NCSM) and compute the Higgs and Yukawa parts of the NCSM action. With the aim to make the NCSM accessible to phenomenological considerations, all relevant expressions are given in terms of physical fields and Feynman rules are provided.

Signatures of the handbag mechanism in wide-angle photoproduction of pseudoscalar mesons

Wide-angle photoproduction of pseudoscalar mesons is investigated under the assumption of dominance of the handbag mechanism considering both quark helicity flip and non-flip. The partonic subprocess, meson photoproduction off quarks, is analysed with the help of a covariant decomposition of the subprocess amplitudes which is independent of a specific meson generation mechanism. As examples of subprocess dynamics, however, the twist-2 as well as two-particle twist-3 contributions are explicitly calculated. Characteristic features of the handbag approach are discussed in dependence upon the relative magnitudes of the invariant functions. Differential cross sections and spin correlations are predicted to show a characteristic behaviour which allows to test the underlying assumption of handbag dominance.

Hard exclusive reactions and the two-gluon components of eta and eta' mesons

The formalism for treating the leading-twist contributions of the two-gluon Fock components occurring in hard exclusive processes that involve eta and eta' mesons is reviewed. The calculation of the eta, eta'--photon transition form factor in next-to-leading order in alpha_s, as well as, the analysis of the g* g* eta' vertex and the electro- and photoproduction of eta, eta' mesons are presented. Applications of this formalism to other relevant quantities such as glueballs are also discussed.

Next-to-next-to-leading order prediction for the photon-to-pion transition form factor

We evaluate the next-to-next-to-leading order corrections to the hard-scattering amplitude of the photon-to-pion transition form factor. Our approach is based on the predictive power of the conformal operator product expansion, which is valid for a vanishing $β$-function in the so-called conformal scheme. The Wilson--coefficients appearing in the non-forward kinematics are then entirely determined from those of the polarized deep-inelastic scattering known to next-to-next-to-leading accuracy. We propose different schemes to include explicitly also the conformal symmetry breaking term proportional to the $β$-function, and discuss numerical predictions calculated in different kinematical regions. It is demonstrated that the photon-to-pion transition form factor can provide a fundamental testing ground for our QCD understanding of exclusive reactions.
