Parametrization for Cherenkov light lateral distribution function in Extensive Air Showers

The simulation of the Cherenkov light lateral distribution function (LDF) in Extensive Air Showers (EAS) was perfomed with the CORSIKA code in the energy range 10^13-10^16 eV for configuration of the Tunka-25 EAS array. On the basis of this simulation we obtained sets of approximating functions for primary protons, iron nuclei and gamma-quanta for zenith angles Theta<=20. The comparison of the calculated Cherenkov light LDF with that measured with the Tunka-25 array has shown an opportunity of primary particle identification and definition of its energy around the "knee".

Effect of muon-nuclear inelastic scattering on high-energy atmospheric muon spectrum at large depth underwater

The energy spectra of hadron cascade showers produced by the cosmic ray muons travelling through water as well as the muon energy spectra underwater at the depth up to 4 km are calculated with two models of muon inelastic scattering on nuclei, the recent hybrid model (two-component, 2C) and the well-known generalized ector-meson-dominance model for the comparison. The 2C model involves photonuclear interactions at low and moderate virtualities as well as the hard scattering including the weak neutral current processes. For the muon scattering off nuclei substantial uclear effects, shadowing, nuclear binding and Fermi motion of nucleons are taken into account. It is shown that deep nderwater muon energy spectrum calculated with the 2C model are noticeably distorted at energies above 100 TeV as compared to that obtained with the GVMD model.

Energy loss of muons and taus through inelastic scattering on nuclei

A hybrid model is used to describe the energy loss of very high-energy taus and muons in matter due to inelastic scattering on nuclei. The model involves soft and semihard photonuclear interactions as well as the deep inelastic scattering including the weak neutral current processes. For the lepton scattering on nuclei all important nuclear effects, the shadowing, anti-shadowing, EMC and the nucleon binding, were taken into account. Approximating formulas for the muon and tau energy loss portion by the inelastic scattering on nuclei in water are given for wide energy range up to $10^9$ GeV.

Charged lepton-nucleus inelastic scattering at high energies

The composite model is constructed to describe inelastic high-energy scattering of muons and taus in standard rock. It involves photonuclear interactions at low $Q^2$ as well as moderate $Q^2$ processes and the deep inelastic scattering (DIS). In the DIS region the neutral current contribution is taken into consideration. Approximation formulas both for the muons and tau energy loss in standard rock are presented for wide energy range.
